RIP. Good ole 2WD... Or the jackass doesn't know how to engage 4WD. They definitely cheapened out on only 2 of the 4 rear wheels being powered.
-
Thanks-ish(not mine)! This was before the 20+ inch wheels were on AMGs so I wouldn't say it is any less capable than a G500/550. Once they were G63's I'd agree more with you. Regardless, this isn't going to do any wheelin'... If you look at the first picture, you can see there is a puddle of gasoline leaking out. I never really got an opportunity to check out the vehicle after the accident but I have to assume the frame bent and that is what really totaled it. That and with what it is, it isn't like a frame replacement for a Mercedes G Wagen would be a realistic repair job.

A couple months ago the fiance' got rear ended in her 2005 G500. Everybody was okay, that I know of. The rear-ender I think went to the ER but we never heard anything after. I don't believe it was anything serious. Anyway, it was enough to total her G500. For better or worse that thing is a tank. They were all sore the next few days, as with most any accident but for getting hit at about 40-50mph while standing still(they were waiting to turn left on a two-lane road) it held up almost as if it hadn't been smoked from behind. Well, she got an Outlander as a rental almost two weeks later. Their insurance company was being a huge pain in the @ss. Somewhat ironically, when I got in my accident the same company was extremely efficient and easy to deal with as a victim and making a claim against them, State Farm. It was alright, I never got to drive it as I wasn't the one who rented it or had my name on it and I never really needed to but I rode in it a couple times. It's an alright vehicle. There were 2-3 times in the two times I was in it thought that the transmission wouldn't upshift and I had to most it to "Sport" then back to "Drive" to get it up upshift. That was weird. Anyway, so the insurance company ended up totaling the vehicle. 234,000 miles and I would say it was only in "okay" shape at that point. They gave her $40,000 for that thing. I was expecting $20-25,000 after looking at them online. So that was a pleasant surprise. Bought for $55,000 and ten years and almost 200,000 miles later got $40,000 for it(bought used). So I know she is a huge Mercedes fan and likely wouldn't want anything else. I tried getting her to look at anything modern and SUV they offered for her. She ONLY wanted an SUV. She also ONLY wanted boxy.. you can probably see where this is going.. I really tried to get her into either a GLC or GLE as they are much better all around vehicles than a G Wagen. Well, her heart was already set on another G Wagen. She simply doesn't like how anything else looks. Well, she got another G Wagen. 2011 G55 AMG with 39,000 miles for $59,000. We had to make a trip to Chicago for it(about 4.5 hours each way). We rented a Buick Encore so we didn't have to take two vehicle home and I have a buddy who is a regional Hertz manager so we got the vehicle for only $78 after everything(insurance, prepaid gas, & taxes) which was considered two days but I believe we only had to pay for one. It is pretty much the same thing she had before but more badass. 5.4L Supercharged V8, 500hp/516tq. The thing scoots for such a big and heavy girl. I have the female vehicle and she has the manly vehicle, Hahaha I'll upload pictures in a comment. I actually don't have any pictures of the new one other than the ones I took off the dealer's page a day or two after she bought it. Accident + rental Encore(missing the grille emblem) The “new” G55 AMG. They’re screen shots so probably piss poor quality, sorry.

Very much so. I thought he was being a smartass until the post after it.. ??♂️

You can even tell you're tall from your pictures! It looks like the camera is at the height of the Tahoe! Are the V10's more rare than the diesels?

sales =/= best or worst vehicle Lincoln is currently fighting their sh!tty reputation that they built themselves over the last twenty or so years.
-
Where has the Prius touched you?
-
Plug-in hybrids are 100% the best way to go.
-
Because Lincoln is killing the interior department the last few things that have been released.

Tiny fraction of sales, ~7.5% and almost all of those are in the $100,000 bracket. Big whoop, indeed. You've come across as very angry.. Mercedes probably sells more AMGs(the real ones, not the C43 kind) than Cadillac sells vehicles.
-
Who cares how many they sell? We, as consumers, should welcome all variations and options available to us.

@surreal1272 woke up on the angry side of the bed this morning. You can disagree but you can also list the competition GM has to those listed vehicles.

GM as a whole, not just Cadillac. As Drew has made it clear GM as a whole supplies competition to the single branded Mercedes.

When has 370lb-ft in a compact car ever been considered "weak"? "However, it also generates higher amounts of torque between 1,000-2,000 rpm compared to the old engine. The most vigorous push comes as early as 3,000 rpm, the automaker promises, with the M139 shaping up to provide instant shove without the need to bury the gas pedal. And, since the engine torque is better distributed, you also get a driving feel more similar to that of a naturally-aspirated, big displacement motor." https://www.slashgear.com/how-mercedes-amg-made-the-most-powerful-turbo-four-cylinder-engine-in-the-world-08583089/

A45 AMG, another vehicle GM has no answer for in any of their brands. Smart to engineer it to be capable of being used pretty well across their lineup, if they choose.

IMO, it isn't so much about the 0-60 time being exactly what I do but it still lets you know how hard it does or does not accelerate. I don't go 0-60 pretty much ever but I know I'll pass people and looking at two different 0-60 times, I can tell which one will do the job with ease and which one I'll have to do with more planning and caution. I think that is what Ford keyed on when throwing their EcoBoost engines to the world. They're not some crazy powerhouse engine but when you go to test drive one you have almost all of your usable power in the low to mid range with those tiny turbos.
-
And yet none of those offer the options Mercedes does per vehicle. Again, for better or worse because they should and will trim the lineup because it is pretty absurdly large right now with some very slow selling vehicles.
-
I have literally never heard anybody say the CTS-V or ATS-V had too much power.. They changed the name because the company as a whole is all over the place. They're one thousand times more consistent than Cadillac has been over the last decade or two. What does GMC have to do with this? I already conceded the consumer truck market is all GM(comparing to Mercedes). I'm talking about the broad spectrum of options that Mercedes offers from the top to the bottom of their lineup that fills every niche in the middle(again, for better or worse).
-
Understandable why it would have had a ~50% growth that year then. Then we can say ~7.5% are real AMGs then.
-
Cool... ~23% of what Mercedes offers. That was written in 2017, fwiw. https://www.thedrive.com/sheetmetal/17048/amg-makes-up-10-percent-of-us-sales-for-mercedes-benz
-
How is one supposed to find how many of each model they sell? Mercedes claimed 10% of all sales were AMGs so that's about the best we can go off of. That's roughly 24-2500/year. Yeah, Cadillac is all over the place right now. They need to sort themselves out.

The same people buying GLA45's.. V-Sport is like me considering the AMG43's.. and M-Sports.. and S-Lines. They're nice vehicles with stout powertrains but they aren't true performance versions.
