Industry News: The Great Disappearance of Affordable American Cars
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Volt powertrain and affordable haven't gone hand-in-hand yet. I don't see it coming too soon. -

Absolutely! I cannot imagine the kink in the hose this is causing automakers to sort through. I actually think sensing animals or humans crossing the road is easier to identify and avoid than the surface of the road or standing water.

I was actually recently just talking about this with somebody. I don't remember if it was here or with a coworker, lol. It's relatively easy to follow GPS, lines, cars, and even searching for people crossing roads but inclement weather sounds like a whole 'nother ball game. How will they handle snow and heavy rain??

The Audis don't really make sense as there are the S versions of both of those and an RS for the 7. Add those up and they're likely not on that list and it's all the same car. It's a shame about the 4C as it's a beautiful car but I completely understand why that's on the list and #1. Also, a lot of those aren't US exclusive. I know a lot of those luxury brands sell in Europe. I know the CT6 sells in China as well...not sure on those numbers. Yes. Yes. Yes. Their marketing is dog$h! outside of Cadillac.

From the little I've read on it, it seems like a more powerful Edge Sport.. It isn't exactly "sporty" or "ST" worthy. I also don't think a buyer of an Edge ST really wants a super tight suspension setup. If they did, they probably aren't buying an SUV..or a sporty one at that. I think something like that would be perfect for me. "Hello 45k? Where are you?"

I think every enthusiast is surprised there hasn't been a V-Sport or true V version of the Escalade already... GM has had plenty of different engines to drop in there then they just need to work on a break and suspension package. It seems like a obvious big money maker.

Do you want me to go to any forum for any car and LOOK for issues? I could probably find issues with your Escalade if I went to a forum and looked for them. Yes, Ford is taking care of the buyers of past models, at least. They extended the warranty, if the issue isn't fixed after three visits to a dealership they buy it back, they cover towing and repairs on it.. big fck up to let it get to that point.

The transmission issues were not on the ST cars and the gasket issue was RS only.

They made one LOOK sporty. They didn't actually make a sporty SUV. Absolutely but it should be compared to vehicles like the Grand Cherokee, Edge, 4Runner, and Murano.

Why do you take anything that isn't blind brand humping as an attempt to belittle them? Those are facts. There is less interior volume behind the driver's seat. That's weird to me for a vehicle this size and it's also weird to others here as well. Are they just attempting to belittle GM? Get pissy with them too. Looking at them in person does not change facts about a vehicle. That is why they are facts.

Mercedes- Benz Unveils the AMG GT and GT Pro for 2020: Comments
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in LA Auto Show
I like this. But I also really like the "basic" AMG GT. I just think it's a great looking car with AMG V8 noises. -
I wasn't relying strictly on CARGO volume but total volume behind the driver's seat, which includes the 2nd row of seats.

Yeah it doesn't really make sense to me. I understand the looks and everything attracting people but the interior volume just seems off.

Yes, you are correct. It's just comical how similar the interior volumes are.

Nope, not correct. Cram that in a GT350's body and I still don't care. If I'm buying a product like this I want the noises it makes as well. To me, that's part of what makes it awesome. I'm okay with the EV thing for commuter vehicles and whatnot but I don't want a pure EV sports car. No freakin way.

To take that even further.. Why buy almost anything with a luxury badge? There are an incredible amount of high end features available on non-luxury badged vehicles these days.
