  1. Everything in this class will be a bit tight for bigger people..
  2. "We're going to use less camouflage testing" *uses full camouflage testing*
  3. I don't think efficiency is their concern but 1: the uniqueness of an EV 2: they so deliver power in an amazing fashion. Billionaires saving $1000 a year on fuel isn't their worry. If it was, they wouldn't be buying 250k cars(65 Series AMGs). They'd be buying something much cheaper.
  4. There's this feeling I have that anybody who's buying a 65 series AMG does not care about fuel economy with their $250,000 vehicle. Ahhhh-greed.
  5. What about that is a problem? A CUV that's FWD based for moms is right up the market's alley. I don't think the two leading luxury SUV sales leaders are complaining about their sales even the slightest... XT5 outsells the X5 by roughly 18,000 units YTD this year. http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2017/12/november-2017-ytd-u-s-suv-sales-rankings-top-106-best-selling-suvs-america-every-suv-ranked/ The top 5 luxury SUVs, in sales, are all FWD based and laughing at your statements. The RX might surpass 100,000 sales this year. X5 and GLC won't hit 50,000 and the GLE will just pass 50,000 units. I completely agree! there has to be differences because of the height of the body, stiffness for rollover prevention, AWD systems.. I'm just not sure what exactly.
  6. Alpha is also used for the Camaro which does generate some sales. Alpha is used under three vehicles and the ATS is coupe and sedan. Maybe it wasn't designed for SUV use? From reviews, it's definitely the most superior car platform in each of its respective uses.
  7. But sharing the platform already and amortizing costs between their volumes I bet they aren't crying themselves to sleep any time soon. There's no logical reason for them to work another platform for RWD CUVs. They're mommy-mobiles and no good reason to cater to the 1% who want a sporty CUV and battle it out over 1% of a small market already, luxury CUVs costing 60-100k. How many enthusiast buyers do you think there are? Of that %, of buyers, how many are in the market for SUVs? Then of that %, how many are looking to spend 60-100k+ on an SUV?
  8. Ah, gotcha. Makes sense. This is an option on much smaller and less luxurious vehicles.. My Escape had a panoramic roof and I don't think they're alone at this point. The F150, Edge, Explorer, and MUSTANG all have pano sun roofs. Everything Lincoln does as well, I think.
  9. There's no point in that though. What are the sales differences between FWD CUVs and RWD CUVs?
  10. Ehhhh It might be priced above it but it is definitely much much smaller than an Escalade. It isn't double an Escalade ESV Platinum unless you're buying a G65. ESV Platinum 4WD starts at 100k and a G Wagen starts at 124k and 142k for a G63. G65 and 4X4(Squared) are 222k and 227k, respectively. Those are priced way out there but they're pretty extreme in their own manners. Random, but when I was in Orlando last week I saw a 4X4(squared)! AWD EV Escalade would still lack what the Rovers do off road, it'd be a quick son of a B though! Just found out you can get Brembos on an Escalde! Way cool!
  11. Room above? How much bigger can an SUV get than an ESV??
  12. Yeah. the Bolt will do pretty well, I think. I'm excited to see what else they put out as they're supposed to have a handful more EV's come out in the next few years. I'm ready for an EV that looks good that isn't Tesla priced or maybe an "actual" SUV that's Escape-sized. It's still hard to believe they didn't go the compact SUV route in the first place with how big those sales numbers are.
  13. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's somewhat deceptive advertising.
  14. Yeah, especially considering it's a little larger and higher off the ground with, assuming more suspension travel, eating that power a little more. So it still wouldn't be GTI quick but I think it'd be a more attractive package.
  15. But not "out the door" because taxes are required.
  16. It is scammy when there is a lot more cash required to drive the vehicle "out the door". Just because in the dealership world it means "you still have things to pay for" doesn't mean that's what it means for any other retail product you buy. I know you included "before taxes" and that's why it doesn't make any sense to word it that way to me.. Out the door before additional fees. What's another retail product that is advertised that way?
  17. In IL we pay taxes at dealerships. The internet should know your tax rate based on your license's address. The only reason I didn't pay taxes when I bought my Escape in MO was they said they don't do out of state taxes, which made sense. That's not the most accurate way of advertising, imo. If it wasn't a tens of thousands of dollars purchased it would make sense. Add a low 6% sales tax on that $27,000 vehicle as it's a $28,620 vehicle. They'll do registration but won't do taxes... The best way to word that, imo, is "27k before taxes" or "27k before tax, title license" Not "out the door". It's a dealership type of thing to do. Same here in IL. And literally NO facet of retail advertises "out the door" pricing either. Dealerships are scammy and this is one reason why. Then it is also not 27k out the door if there's a trade-in so that's a stupid argument. A trade-in completely changes everything and an advertised price doesn't really mean a whole lot.
  18. MKT? What's that?
  19. I hate when dealerships word things like that.. It's not 27k out the door because taxes must be paid. It's just 27k with dealer fees.
  20. I know it's me being a little picky but I with this had the GTI's engine to go with the rest of the car. It seems like a pretty sweet vehicle. There's actually one of those in that underground parking lot here at work as well.
  21. Part of that problem is a double edged sword.. Be safer so they make wider, thicker pillars. But we want to learn how to drive better but we can't see out of these cabins anymore. My Escape had a wicked blind spot at the back because they had itty bitty rear windows but they sat up so high that a car could literally be below the window when I look back and miss it if I didn't use the mirrors as well. You used to just be able to turn your head and look with your own eyes now we almost have to use multiple things/systems to make sure we're clear. This would cover parallel parking and the curb as well. That works great with an SUV with some sidewalls on their tires but that can't be done in like any car. or one with lower profile wheels were there's less give in the tire and it might not be angled just right to go up on the curb.
  22. Yep, I've only done it a handful of times as well.
  23. I've always been able to parallel park my vehicles but I could see it being very useful on larger CUVs with wicked blind spots.
