  1. Because you want to turn this away from Alfa's problems, what issues did/does the 2.0 and 1.5 ever have? The 3.5 and 1.6 were both fixed after the first model year, right?
  2. You're picking one or two things here and there from Ford and GM while every Alfa ever has had problem after problem. THAT is the difference you're not grasping. Yes, Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Benz, Audi, and Nissan all have had issues on vehicles but the difference is you're picking just one or two vehicles per brand while over at Alfa you could list every car in their stable. Nobody is magically excusing Jaguar and Land Rover and we all continue to assume they have sh!t reliability even though who actually knows about their 2017 models, right?
  3. So we have some proof of them being unreliable already yet it's still a "wait and see"? Ford and GM have a much better LIFETIME reputation and CURRENT reputation than any Alfa ever made for reliability whether it's the engine/trans or electronics.
  4. LOL @ "However, in other areas, Alfa Romeo seems like a stuck record, its needle unable to play past a reputation for poor quality. One Giulia was wheeled off like an A&E casualty after the infotainment system failed. Another I drove had an engine warning light screaming for attention from the instrument binnacle, and the cruise control refused to switch on. A third car tested suffered a frozen infotainment system, which could only be brought back to life by stopping the car and switching the ignition off and back on, and at times some air vents stopped blowing air whilst others continued." I don't think I've read about a BMW, Benz, or Audi that the vents stopped blowing air...on a brand new car... And the ATS doesn't sell.. They screwed the pooch and with abysmal sales it shows. I love the ATS but obviously it isn't a homerun in the market.
  5. So go buy an Alfa. Put-cho money where yo mouth is! You can be the first person in the history of humans to buy a reliable Italian car.
  6. So? That doesn't excuse it for being sh!t. Yeah, there have been A LOT of people who don't like the DTC in them. But that has nothing to do with Fiat, Alfa, or FCA as a whole. Sounds like a little side step action.. I'd assume the EX would not have a limited slip but they might have "torque vectoring" what uses the brakes(like Ford does..*rolls eyes*) because it's much cheaper. Except the company that "okays" everything.
  7. Well, apparently they have a reputation to build because I'd never seriously consider a Fiat or Alfa until there are POSITIVE reliability reports out for them. Has Italy EVER made a car that people said was reliable? I've talked to two people on a private Facebook group that they were constantly in the shop with their 500's. Literally, once every month MAYBE two months until they got rid of them they were in the shop for something not working. They loved them when they worked but they never worked.
  8. Those are snips from multiple websites. Again, I don't think most of their faults are in the engine or transmission.
  9. As far as I know, it isn't a single engine or transmission issue its everything else that breaks and goes wrong on them. Have you not been in or seen a loaded Camry then? Saying the base model has different(lower quality) interior materials than the top of the line spec'd cars is one of the most obvious things ever stated. Golfs are the same way. "S" does not have the same interior as a GTI or R.
  10. "Consumer Reports does not recommend any Fiat models." "All Fiat Chrysler brands finished in the bottom third of the rankings, with Fiat coming last," Consumer Reports wrote in a statement. " "The reasons why most FCA products are at the bottom of our Ratings is mostly due to poor reliability and sub-par performance in our testing. Only the Durango is recommended," " "with unresponsive touchscreens, dysfunctional multi-use controllers," "I'd be sick of posting about Jennifer Lopez/Fiat disaster if it didn't keep being hilarious. The latest update? The Fiat 500 she wasn't actually driving broke down during filming. This is getting too easy." I'm with @Stew on this one. The AMG motors just sound freakin NASTY! I love them so much. They are enough to easily persuade me from an ATS-V to a C63.
  11. Uhhh no sh!t..? What kind of statement of obvious is that? Other than the DCT what transmission issues are they having? Yeah, I'm fine with assuming an Italian car is unreliable until they prove otherwise. If it makes me an asshole, so be it. It isn't like Fiats have been reliable since their return so why would I think the same mother company, and Italian, would all of a sudden make something better? Once they do, great! I don't want Alfas to be shet quality but until they prove themselves...most will believe their past reputation and Italian reputation which aren't good. Fiat = unreliable Italian = unreliable Past Alfas = unreliable What are they giving me to have faith in them?
  12. Sure, go ahead. But it's a widely known issue with Italian made cars that aren't made to the greatest quality even if they are superb cars when driven. Ignition issues isn't the same as just making an all around low quality vehicle where knobs, plastics, and otherwise shet just fails, vehicles that are joked about for being in the shop more than driven. Watch any car show about Italian cars and maintenance and reliability will be joked about. It's a thing. And transmissions failing before 100k miles isn't the same as 17 trips to the shop for miscellaneous bullshet that has stopped working.
  13. Assuming an Italian company will have bad reliability is just going with their own track record of making...unreliable vehicles... The sentence, " That Italian car is so reliable." has never been said, ever, by anybody.
  14. GM(or anybody else) could always use the Jeep brand regardless of what product they could produce themselves. But I completely agree with everything else you said. They simply don't really make competitive products anymore. They have a few niche items like the Hellcats and SRT Grand Cherokee that everybody seems to love but outside of those the rest is old(save for the van, Cherokee & now Compass) or is a Fiat... Jeep is the only thing I would want to buy from them.
  15. Oh I definitely think VW is capable of making any vehicle great that they want to. It might be bland..but great.. lol
  16. While I agree.. Ram and Jeep as names carry a ton of weight that even if VW made a better product it would take sooooo long before it overtook Jeep/Ram in sales.
  17. Turbo V6? Aluminum? ..Are we looking at another Ferd here..?
  18. And I guarantee they will brag to their friends they smoked a V8 "off the line" Hahaha
  19. Quirky looking can be cool, I get that. But this just looks over done and like they tried to just do more things just to do more things. It's like they already riced it out from the factory.
  20. Similar boat as the Focus RS but the RS at least gives you AWD. They seem to sell well enough. FWD doesn't put power down in a straight line as well either. So how many Civics are riced out and street race? A LOT.
  21. Efficiency, I'd assume. When those transmissions are in full lock you're getting 100%(theoretically) from the engine whereas CVTs are belts and whatnot stretching and giving losing more power to the wheels. More power loss = more efficiency loss. This is just my theory on them. Similar to DCT vs torque converter as well.
  22. How much different can a coupe be shaped? The BMW doesn't have any shoulders over the wheels whereas the VW does. Like @Stew said, the BMW's curls in itself(ingress) on the side where the VW curls out and over the top.
  23. I think you're just saying that because of the color because those are two very different front ends. Nothing other than the number of openings on the bottom of the fascia are even remotely similar.
  24. That's actually a really good point. Almost every Wrangler I see now has a hard top and while there are some in the summer months with the top off it really is not all that often. I hadn't thought of that.
  25. So you just thought they were full of shet when they said march 2018?
