  1. Yep, completely agree. I know damn well my Escape had a lot of plastic, too much if I'm being honest. But I think the "fixed" it by not making it glossy. When it got dirty it looked really bad so I had to keep up on it. Basically the whole damn center stack was glossy plastic and felt really cheap if you touched it(which you never do where it was at but that's besides the point). Just knowing all of these vehicles are so competitively priced they have to cheapen out somewhere. Let's just hope it is more subtle than others.
  2. It's roofline is ~5 inches higher than the compact class of cars. It's also low to the ground because of reduced aero drag. That ground clearance is likely due to a plastic piece sticking down 1-2 inches, like my Escape, Tahoes, and anything else that's "lifted". It's lateral grip is far less than my Focus..which isn't anything special. 0.77g for the Bolt and 0.89-0.90g for the Focus(non-ST or RS). MT's figure 8 numbers for acceleration, braking, and turning characteristics? Ford Focus: 26.7 sec Chevy Bolt: 27.6 sec And that's with it being MUCH slower accelerating because the Bolt does a 1/4 mile in 14.9 vs a Focus DCT in 16.3. It is hands-down quicker in a straight line but that's it. So if it handles worse than my Focus(with a decent margin, if it was much closer I could understand the "drive it before you knock it") then I don't really need to drive it to say that it is not a "driver's car". Compare it to a Miata? The pinnacle of "driver's car". 1/4 mile: 14.5 sec Lateral g's: 0.95 MT's figure 8: 25.4 sec All of these numbers are from MT to get a consistent source as other companies get different numbers for the same vehicle(for example, C/D is always quicker). It is good, very good... for a CUV.
  3. I don't think it matters which brand, if you're looking at any of the mainstream brands they will all fall into this category at some point. They're not luxury vehicles and there will be plastic cheapness. It's just where they make the plastic that's acceptable to each buyer.
  4. If only I could read... But still not fast. It's a quick car, quite quick. My Focus can go faster than 93mph but it likely(it won't) cannot get to 93mph as quickly. Also, w/o even driving it, I can tell you it is not a "driver's car". It's an economical statement not a driver's car. It does its intended job very well but a high rise CUV-like vehicle is not a driver's car. Your EV bias is showing through thicker than cold peanut butter right there. "holds corners far better than most autos"(paraphrased). GTFO with that.
  5. A Jeep Wrangler Unlimited(pictured) Sahara is 34k... or the 2 door Sahara is 30,400.. CHEATER!!! Get yourself in the 2 door "freedom edition" for 29,700.
  6. Are you drunk? or are you literally talking about sales numbers? Either way, you look wrong. BMW Cars: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, i3, i8, Z4 BMW SUVs: X1, X3, X4, X5, X6 Also, the sales numbers I saw show Mercedes selling more "light trucks" than cars. 25,583 cars 26,190 "light trucks" BMW cars: 23,271 BMW "light trucks": 17,309 Audi cars: 12,577 Audi "light trucks": 10,991 You're Wrong Link. Then where will the build their current lineup at?
  7. Two of those are incorrect... "quick" because it only goes 93mph and almost 3600lbs isn't light for a compact class vehicle. It's actually heavy for its size.
  8. YES! Throw some homage to #2 & #3! And would you look at that...the driver can see out of those cars as well. Weird. I completely agree with that entire post, @oldshurst442!
  9. Agreed. If only the Camaro would open up the sightlines I would almost guarantee I'd want one over a Mustang. The performance is undeniable and w/ my driving style the low end tw of the LT1 favors me more than the Coyote. You just can't see out of the damn thing. My buddy w/ a 5th gen offered to give me his keys when we were going from a restaurant to a bar a few weeks ago but he stated, "it'll be a bastard to try and park there" referring to the sucky parking lot we were going to to begin with and then how crappy the visibility is in his car. I said no thanks, for now. EVERYBODY else accomplished this. No reason they can't. You can evolve a body style without changing "just to change". Look at the Mustang for example, or that above pictured Lambo. Camaro existed in the 70's-2002 without this current design. Throw those some retro bones as well. You don't always have to mimic the originals to be retro. The 2002 Catfish Camaro looked nothing like the original but that's not bad.
  10. Looks really good, man! Did you relocate your head unit down there? How did you essentially make that fit down there and also make it look like it belongs down there because it looks like a clean, factory location. Well done. It also looks like you have to replace one of the dome lights to the "white" like the one closest to the camera yet! lol The white looks really good. Thanks! It was a blast. First vacation, that wasn't my annual "Bro Float", in probably 10 years. I'm too cheap and with still being in school there isn't a whole lot of available time. Much needed.
  11. I'm not arguing Mustang discounts at all, am I? YOU brought mustang discounts into this.
  12. A friend's son on FB got a 2016 1SS for 28k.
  13. Yep, agreed. Just take the loss.
  14. Hahaha yeah that's true... People will sue for anything. About the overheating issues.. I'd like to see how Ford actually worded their "fix it yourself". If they said it like that or if they said something that mentions 'a track package that as additional cooling was available and the owners chose to not get this.'
  15. On their website, building them, there is no Track Package option for the 2017's. So I will assume they added everything in the package and bumped the price up some because it is not 57k and it was like 48k in 2016(both base prices). But I also see the tech package is now "only" 3k compared to 7.5k. So they completely changed the packaging for 2017. It seems like they forced a lot of options on you and jacked the price up because of them. I'm not usually a huge fan of that. But I guess they "needed" to make the track package standard, because idiots. I just realized this talk is still in an Alfa thread.. lol
  16. That would only make sense. Spend 50k on a car but skip the 6.5k track package when spending 1k on track days and be surprised when it doesn't perform exactly as expected...on a track... Isn't them offering a track package in which it adds cooling devises telling that if you're going to track the car, buy that? I bet most, if not all, spent the 7.5k on the technology package though so they could have their infotainment screen "Sync" 'd to their phones while on track.
  17. Agreeeeed! Also, Agreed. lol Honestly, if I could see out of one of these it would be ahead of the Mustang on my list. It just performs so damn well and my driving style suits the low end grunt of the LT1 over the Coyote.
  18. It is a better car as a whole, EASILY. But we're strictly talking about exterior design/looks. That's why there really isn't much of a way to measure. There's usually a good sales bump for a new generation just because it's the new, hip thing and they look BRAND NEW. I also am not a huge sales-talk fan but new generations always create a decent bump in sales. The Gen5 outsold the Gen6 every year it was sold compared to the first year for Gen6. I agree. I think automakers need to spread the costs out longer than 5 years. Life cycles should be more in the 8 year range with a good refresh at the 4 year mark. Buuuuut competition always makes them do it sooner.
  19. How? How did they "technically" get it right? There's no measure of right or wrong other than people buying or not buying the product. That IS what they did. WE, enthusiasts, know the difference but I would wager $100 that average Joe and Jane couldn't pick one from the other on a drive-by. That was only a refresh not a whole new car, assuming you're talking about the 2015 refresh.
  20. Easy? Man, I had this up in the background at work for hours! Haha my hardest part was figuring what categories I wanted to spend money on.
  21. Is it a good thing though? Customers don't know what will look good in 5-10 years they just know what things look like now and what they're used to seeing. They didn't push anything The Camaro got focus groups...of Camaro owners.. and look what we got. The same thing and their sales haven't taken off like most do with a brand new car.
  22. Toyota Tacoma SR5 4X4, Access Cab. - Off-Road, 27-30k 2017 Tacoma GT350R Back road/track 65-70k Mercedes C300 w/ AMG wheels and a couple other small things to keep it under 50k - Long Distance GT Down to my 35-40k Daily Driver... I really enjoyed the size of my Escape but let's class it up a bit, MKC Reserve. 2.0T, AWD - 35-40k. (I couldn't squeeze a Black Label in here though...)
