Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade
ccap41 replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
You could find one on a dealer lot for under 55k. I just went to autotrader and there are a plethora of GLC's in the 40-50k range to choose from(new). Most are in the 44-50k range though. The closest Mercedes has is the GLS. I definitely will not say it "doesn't measure up" as the goals of both vehicles are different. The GLS will have a more car-like drive(compared to a BOF vehicle), it offeres 4 or so engines to choose from, it's a little smaller(good or bad depends on the purchaser's needs). -

Well they do have the GLC which starts at $38xxx. I could see that as a hybrid coming in under 55k but it wouldn't be some performance model making 550hp. And a GLA...but that's bearly SUV. Just a lifted car, really. -
Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade

If you actually believe that MB plans on building a 550HP electric crossover for $55K, then that perfectly illustrates your problem with expectations of the competition, not to mention that is not even close to the price that it will go for. Seriously. Completely agree. There is no way MB would produce an SUV with a 550hp electric drive-train and it would only cost 55k. That's basically starting price of a GLE. -
To me, it does look like the trailing edge was moved marginally forward though.. It could also be that I WANT it to have moved forward so I'm looking at it with a skewed perspective. But I really don't see it moved back like you're suggesting. But looking at the body work behing the wheel and before the door suggests you are correct because it looks nearly identical 4-5 inches or so but with smaller wheels. This actually makes me think the whole car shrunk down some.
-
I had to look at them side by side but there is definitely something about the front end that doesn't look as impressive. I think some of it is wheel well/wheel size. The concept had larger wheels in what looked like larger wheel wells too. Even if you threw on larger wheels in this prototype they would fill the wheel well but still wouldn't be as large as the concept. The more I look at them the less I see the front overhang grow and I see more rear overhang grow but I think it looks worse than it is because of the wheels/wheel well size is different.

I think I figured out the one thing missing from this car..something that make it look a little too bland or something. The doors/side are very flat. There are no body creases that show flow or anything(the s-class is kind of what I'm basing this off of). Without anything on the doors they just look too large and bland. Other than that, I dig the looks.

Why are people so hesitant to pass on simple 2 lane highways? They'd rather just ride you bumper than pass. I've never understood this and it grinds my gears. This morning I had somebody close enough I couldn't see their license plate in my rear view mirror when there were multiple times they could have easily passed. Wouldn't even have been close or anything.

It's a lose-lose. If they used the LT1 you'd be all over them borrowing a Chevy engine. But they don't use a v8 and you ask for them to use a Chevy motor. -

Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade

What does the G-Wagen have anything to do with the Escalade ? 4 wheels, V8, 4WD...that's about it. Nowhere near the size of a GMT900. -
How do I check? Are they at the links?

Texas Plumber Sues Ford Dealer After His Truck Ends up in ISIS' Hands
ccap41 replied to ccap41's topic in The Lounge
THE DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha -
At the time of that incident (4 years ago), this guy was 40...he had a small stroke and got shingles from the experience. I ran into him about a month ago (I'm on a gig w/ a different client in the same office tower), he's still with the same company, got a 'battlefield promotion' from that incident and no longer does death march projects. He's lost a lot of weight, after his second in-cube heart attack in a two-year period. When I worked a major bank, in a 6 month period 3 guys in my department of 25 people had heart attacks...1 fatal (was 32), and two recovered and got 'battlefield promotions'. I quit shortly after that, got tired of 65-76 hr weeks and driving nearly 60 miles a day round trip. Corporate life can really take it's toll. I'm taking daily 500mg of a prescription anti-depressant so I can sleep... Holy $h!, man. I've never been that stressed nor worked those hours in my corporate life.. It's still young though.

Texas Plumber Sues Ford Dealer After His Truck Ends up in ISIS' Hands
ccap41 replied to ccap41's topic in The Lounge
First, I hope the dealer actually has nothing to do with ISIS. Second, The dealer deserves more than $1,000,000 for; 1: not doing what they said they would do upon trade-in. 2: selling a vehicle with another company's name on it, putting the guy's company's name and his own personal name essentially at risk due to negligence. What a POS dealer. He said he was attempting it but the dealer told him not to, they will do it for him. " While he tried to remove the company’s decal before the transaction, a salesman allegedly told him to leave it to the dealership to handle so as not to ruin the original paint. " -
"Once you trade in your vehicle to the dealership, you typically don’t have much power over where it ends up. And that’s usually not a problem, unless your truck ends up in an ISIS propaganda picture with your company’s decal still pasted on the doors. That’s exactly what happened to Texas plumber Mark Oberholtzer, who sold his company’s F-250 truck to a Ford dealer in 2013. While he tried to remove the company’s decal before the transaction, a salesman allegedly told him to leave it to the dealership to handle so as not to ruin the original paint. But the decal was never removed, and the truck was shipped off to Turkey before it somehow ended up in the hands of ISIS in Syria. Now, Oberholtzer is suing the Ford dealer for $1 million after his business suffered from some extremely bad publicity. ..." ..what..? Is this a real thing? I can lease a Cruze for less than my insurance payment?
-
I actually have a close friend who would work 5 12hr days weekly and would slam monsters all day(and his other eating habits were junk as well) and he actually had a stroke a few weeks ago. He was 21. He got stupid lucky. Small, small, small stroke but still a stroke at 21 years old. It also didn't help that he's an avid nicotine user, smokes a little, vapes a lot, chews some. Not a crazy amount of any of them but between all of them it's damn-near constant.

The minvan without sliding doors? lol Yeah, I always forget that because it doesn't seem to compete with anything, in my opinion at least. I passionately hate the Journey. It just seems so..awkward to me.. But would they be stealing their own sales from a Renegade or 500x though?(doubtful they'd steal 500x sales as there aren't many dealers around to steal from). I guess the same could be said for the Cherokee though...

How about something a little larger more Escape/Nox/CR-V-like instead of another Renegade/500x? I know Jeep has the Cherokee but that's the only SUV of that size FCA really has. It'd put a second, more luxurious, vehicle in that class. I'd assume it would more compete with the Terrain Denali or Escape Titanium.
