It is $85,900 (staring price) and you do not know for a fact what it's interior is worth and much like the other thread, many cars (including Mercedes) do not have interiors worth the price tag of their cars. You definitely don't know what an optioned out Trackhawk is like so again, just more trolling by you. Do you think an optioned out Cayenne has an interior worth damn near $140K (and that is leaving off some options on their website) for the GTS model? The simple answer to that is "hell no".

Who gives two $h!s where the profits go? Do Daimler profits go anywhere else but Germany? Did they when they owned Chrysler? No. Furthermore, the difference in interiors is reflected in the difference in price. Point here is that you said that Benz finally gets competition for the performance SUV crowd when it was already there. Don't move the bar, yet again, to some BS about interiors and profits when that was not reflected in your original statement. And I quote, "At least someone is giving AMG competition in SUVs."

Literally everything you just said about the Vette can be applied to every German make, i.e. The huge price difference between an SL and an AMG SL with the same EXACT same interior. How many times do you have to be told this before you understand the fallacy of your argument?

I am the same way, as far as the OCD habit goes. Take this floating screen trend. It would drive me bat$h! insane to have to worry about the amount of dust that collects behind one of those, not to mention the ergomnic issues i would have with it. I'm not a clean freak but the dust drives me nuts while i live in the dustiest state in the country lol! So what's Mercedes excuse for their price jumps, when we are talking about the same performance jump (i.e. AMGs with the same interiors as the lower end models). You're just paying for racing performance there as well so why is it okay for Benz and not GM?

The fact that some feel like only the last 20 years of history is relevant in the car world, should tell you all you need to know. German interiors were $h! in the 80s, got a little better in the 90s (mainly BMW and Audi here) and then the others (Porsche and MB) caught up and started putting interiors that actually matched the outrageous prices of said cars. Benz and Porsche did not have interiors to write home about until the 2000s. Those who doubt this or have sudden amnesia to history should really do a few simple Google searches on the matter.

Start the Cruze hatch. That's what I would do anyway. Range and versatility (or extra cargo room) are always a plus.

It is rumored that the Bolt will find its way into several sedans and CUVs. CUVs would be the obvious first choice here but I hope they don't let the sedan market wither away by denying it the new tech.

And a Subaru and a Camaro are not direct competitors but here's the part you completely ignore. They are indirect competitors (the Regal and CLA) for reasons already mentioned a thousand times and it's a far more direct comparisons than comparing a Subaru to a Camaro. Whether you choose to accept that simple fact is your problem at this point. Throwing in a sedan to CUV comparison, on top of that, is deflecting and you know it. The Regal and CLA are more closely related than the Regal and Enivison. It should be pretty clear as to why that is, but honestly this is just utterly retarded. You want to keep on deflecting and moving the damn bar to the point where you no longer make any sense and have to make up imaginary scenarios. You do it every single time and quite frankly, it is time to move on from this imaginary non-sense. Now, can we get back to GM?

Excuses is all I'm reading for the fact that the Regal, which you insist the CLA does not compete with, beats the CLA. You try o compare a four door Subaru to a two door Stang yet can't understand why a four door FWD Regal gets compared to a four door FWD CLA. And "German build quality"? LMAO at that myth! A CLA in any trim is a bad example (yet fairly typical to me) of German build quality. Sorry but this dead horse has been beaten enough and this needs to get back to GM and not the overrated Benz. With the introduction of the A Class here, I give the CLA two years before it is scrapped for the very reasons you mention, which may be their plan to begin with. Can't have two bottom feeders in their "luxury" stable.

And the Camaro has a terrible interior, the Corvette has an average interior. And the CLA is both of those.

I've sat in a fairly loaded CLA and was very much unimpressed, given the $45K price tag that was on it. Have not sat in a new Regal but all reviews point to it being a huge step up from the now old Regal that beat the CLA.

So you admit that it does compete with it then? The fact that you have to use the emblem as the upsale proves the watering down of the car itself. It's clear that it has no other redeeming quality other than "it's a Benz" because it sure as hell doesn't beat the Regal in anything else.

Actually, according to several publications, it's not even as good as cars that you say it doesn't compete with, like the Regal. No one is comparing it to the E Class. That's all you and your made up criteria to deflect from the fact that despite its sales, it has not been a well reviewed car.

Except that the A Class, that the CLA is based off of, is also coming to our shores creating that GM like FWD redundancy. It's classic bottom feeding tactics by a company that calls itself "The best or nothing".

Volvo wants their profile back and Mazda wants their headlights back. That front end is just awful, a disturbing trend on more and more CUVs lately.

Exactly. Weird as it sounds, when I bought my Magnum back in '08, I actually cross shopped it with a loaded HHR because they both had cargo room in the back. Two different length cars but they were cross shopped so when I see the endless SMK remarks about literal dimensions (like it's the be all, end all of car shopping) I can't help but laugh a bit.

And none of that changes the fact that all the major publications compare the two as do car shopping sites. I do not understand your need to avoid the plain and simple truth. Maybe it's because the old Regal beat that same CLA in several comparos? How is introducing sub-$30K FWD cars (the price of the first year CLA) and having an even smaller FWD car "improving"? Where I come from, that's called diluting the brand.

Clearly the price difference doesn't matter and especially when the new Regal (which is mid-size, not fully size) easily crosses $30K and then some, putting it right in line with its FWD competition. You can paint it anyway you want but Benz most certainly is competing with Buick on this one.
