  1. Sadly. I'm seeing that around here too....even sadder considering this is the motor city... One owner actually told me it woudn't make a difference anyways.- "once those people who own those classics die off, their kids will tear them up and make them F&F cars anyways" Dude is a moron, I swear. I think many of us will do what our dads did....
  2. Yeah, I'd fix it... What year is the Lumina? If it is in good shape otherwise (good body-no rust-nice on the inside)...it's better to have no payments..... Most of the Luminas I still see going aroud here are the 3.1s.... I saw a 99 Lumina LTZ (looked nice) but I think it had the 3.4..... Makes me wonder how long my dad's 3.4 in his 03 Venture will last... WMJ-did you see quite a few 02-04 Ventures in there?
  3. Ow! That sucks!
  4. Yep, sounds like BS to me.... Why would he go to all that trouble though?
  5. Hmmm.. Toss up for me-it' not as great as it could be-but much better than almost any current Pontiac....
  6. Sometimes it can hurt a little... You might laugh, but I felt bad for the late 1st gen Js....esp the RS and Z24 trims... My first car was a 87 Cavalier Rally Sport 2dr (just sounds cooler that way. ) Say what you will about them, but I loved that little car. It was a lot of fun to drive-and always good on gas. Though they are rare in our local junkyards now.. I was there once a spotted this 86 Z24...the engine died at 140k, but the body was in great shape-no rust at all. I really wanted to take that car home-but I couldn't afford it. Sadly, even though I had talked my dad into gving me the cash to take it home-it was already crushed....not even a week later... It was tough to take because finding 1st gen Js coupes in that great of shape/no rust are very hard to find.... When there are cars that you like there-it does make it tough.
  7. I'd say go for it-you might not run into this again... Worst come to worse-there are plenty of Foci out there..... You could even get a Focus beater (I saw a 00 with 110k on it for 2100..) Do it man!
  8. My parents have done that too...though I thought it was funny for some odd reason....
  9. It looks like for the first time in five years, I might actually have part of the dream cruise weekend off! (Sunday) I think it would be cool to meet up with of you guys! Now I just need a classic!
  10. Fleas?
  11. Oh yeah, it is hot here too....may be like this until the end of the week.... Chance of storms every day....
  12. Yep.... "It's getting in hot in herre take off all your....." :AH-HA_wink:
  13. Yep, with the synthetics it just takes longer for that to happen...
  14. Yes, but not that much....

    new job

Yep- so true. I too am looking for a better job. Hopfully I'll find one, and canI just work my current one part time. Stupid Michigan Ecomony.
  17. A buddy of mine just had the same problem on his Focus...I should let him know. I was thinking it was the starter too...
  18. Usually I change the oil at 3/3000... But since I live close to work-it can take a while to get to 3000 miles... I wait no longer than 6 months to replace the oil...just to be on the safe side....
  19. I think you be getting a new car soon, Walt. A co-worker of mine is having the same issues as your car. She's ripped GM, the Dealership, and the local customer service center a new one. Next week she gets a fully loaded 2007 kinda free. She trades in the G6, and only has to pay what she has left on the G6 (a bit over 2 years) Plus GM is paying ALL the maintenance for the first 2 years..... And a Red lobster Gift card from the dealership. So she is pretty happy. (she liked the GP, so it worked out better for her) Can't go wrong with trading in a 06 g6 GT w/ 48k for a brand new car. I hope things work out for you, Walt.
  20. Sometimes that's the way to be.
  21. All good looking cars....
