  1. " "Sales for the sixth generation Taurus are projected to be around 50,000 to 75,000 annually, as Ford planned a lower volume to avoid steep discounts/incentives. Previous iterations of the Taurus, which were classified as midsize cars, had sold 400,000 vehicles per year at their peak in the 1990s" Ford is easily meeting it's designed sales goals for the 2010+ Taurus. When Ford moved the Taurus up in the lineup in 2008, it was with the purpose of drastically reducing volume. You have to remember the plant its built in makes other models. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Taurus_(sixth_generation) When I was selling, my used car manager had been at the chevy store for awhile, this was back in like 08-10. He said the Impala majorly outsold the Malibu in the showroom at that time, even though the Impala was a fossil. That was in a time when what, 70% of Impala's sales were fleet? Ford was probably moving more retail units Fusion alone at the time than Malibu plus Impala. Both the Impala and Malibu were retail stinkers. So to suggest Ford was flopping is presposterous considering GM could hardly move any Impala or Malibu units even then in comparison, and with anything resembling profit. The fact that Ford could take a car like the Taurus and in a few short years move it from a 16k loss leader to a car that people would pay mid thirties for in the showroom is quite amazing. One could argue that GM is copying Ford in doing that. Ford is pleasantly happy to sell a few Taurus and MKS on a now old platform for big money (plus the Flex, MKt, etc.) on the side of selling what is now 300k Fusions a year. Ford basically schooled GM big time. New Impala is the only mid or large size chevy sedan that GM has been able to generate major showroom buzz with and make real money on in YEARS. Maybe since the 77 Impala / Caprice.
  2. it would be great here! the repressive govt regs need to go
  3. my old boss and buddy who gm's the chevy store is fetching 27 for impala LS right now. 10 months from now it will have bigger discounts and more rebates and will be able to be had for 24-25k. http://www.appleautos.com/2014-Chevrolet-Impala-1LS-Northfield-MN/vd/16363248 the 08-12 malibu rear seat is tight also....moreso in width. gm cannot do backseats to save it's life
  4. someone may want a hybrid, but not a toyota
  5. Everyone always forgets, GM's recipe up til just a bit ago has been $h!ty Impala + not king of the class Malibu = x sales. Ford has been buttload of Fusions + a handful of Taurus = probably about the same as GM. I really don't think Ford is all bent out of shape about actual Taurus sales as that platform is used more for the crossovers and now of course Ford don't care if they sell a Taurus or a Police Interceptor. It's still a unit. Hyundai sells buttloads of Sonatas and a handful of Azeras. Camry / Avalon, Altima / Maxima is a similar thing. There are customers that do like the added heft of the Taurus over of the Fusion. And some folks don't like the 3 window styling. Taurus also offers the TT v6. GM's total Malibu + Impala volume may go down if they don't keep fleeting the old model. Malibu won't sell well no matter how much incentives it gets, so at some point the new Impala prices will not sustain. You'll see new Impala LS's next summer with OTD prices around 23-24k. Probably comparable equipment wise to an OTD 21-22k Fusion.
  6. "International Series" was always my favorite!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO or was "Eurosport" my favorite? I am waiting for GM to come out with something called 'techline' trim.......
  7. Taurus sells very well in these parts. All the new cop cars are the Taurus and Explorers here now also.
  8. i was half heartedly joking. I am sure yours is a good buy since you take good care of it. A used car shop would probably get like 3 or 3500 for it in good condition.
  9. Yes, I was confusing it with the Quoris....... and congrats on the E! pictures! when they get it off the truck, hopefully unharmed in shipping. I'll give you 1200 for your Aurora, I don't care about the headliner!
  10. more than 22k, but i sht my pants yesterday as i actually saw a new Kia Cadenza in these fwd parts yesterday, with a new reg sticker on it. wait 11 months and you could prob get a new one for 25k! edit: never mind. i thought the cadenza was rwd but i guess it is front.
  11. how many miles on the Aurora now?
  12. http://www.harrystoyswi.com/2008-Cadillac-XLR/Used-Convertible/Milwaukee-WI/5152/2618790/Details.aspx too bad this caddy didn't have a rear seat and cost a bit less, it's a real looker.....
  13. meh. interior sort of interesting. roofline into tail and taillight swoop is interesting. doesn't really define the buick brand in any way...... Opel needs to butch up their designs a bit i think sometimes..... front is dull, too egglike, and the proportions are out of whack too...
  14. The guy we see at the donut shop every other sunday or so has a black Genesis, it's a nice looking rig. It does have a presence about it. The interiors I think they could have massaged a bit more ............ There really isn't a lot of RWD biased cars with v8 anymore, is there. Is an STSv out of the question?
  15. should fill a niche but Titans even if they update them will be somewhat ignored. The person who is looking for a Titan diesel will be a needle in the haystack. But give credit to Nissan for branching out this way.
  16. sometimes blu, its all about perception!
  17. congrats to you both. Encore is a nice ride and is a trendsetter. Let us know how well the intillink (SP) works and the gas mileage is what i am curious about. Love the interior seat color.
  18. looks ten years old. the car itself might be alright. Still, it's lacking something.
  19. lease a new mercedes for 10k miles a year, and keep your money in the bank. the Hyundai might be more reliable. The Mercedes is cooler. I suppose you wouldn't get an old G8 v8? Inifinitis aren't there M's and Q's and stuff too?
  20. one thing about the legacy and the outback to me that seem cheap, the seat sculpting. they are wide for Americans, but seem flat, lumpy and unsupportive, not shaped or contoured much. Just on first impression. How do the seats really feel?
  21. hilarious how BMW and Merc and now Jag are going to FWD and no one seems to cry foul about it.
  22. who gets the last laugh??? 4 speed manual!!!!!!
  23. Ahead of it's time I guess! I would love to get my hands on one and bring it over......
  24. I've driven the 2.5 but not the 3.6. I am certain the 3.6 would leave an entirely different perception. The Outback and Legacy can seem quite posh with the leather. With cloth and lesser trims, the cheaper dash plastic sort of shows off more. The seating is not car low and not crossover tall, it's kind of inbetween. If your frame of mind is you are driving a wagon, it seems tall. If you think you are driving a crossover, it seems lower than you would like. This vehicle was a huge step up for Subaru in size and feel and stuff. The Outback can feel a little slow in the steering and soft in the loafers but in comparo to a crossover its pretty good. The 2.5's get super mpg once the CVT winds down. I have a friend who told me once that 30 on the highway was no prob. I am keeping the Legacy sedan as a darkhorse in my mind as a possible future lease. This is exactly the kind of car that makes Subaru a Subaru and why they should continue to serve their niche well rather than diversify. I can see where in markets where AWD is not needed that maybe they consider offering a FWD Impreza and Legacy for example. Note to GM: that picture of the back seat is what real back seat leg room is all about. Hey GM why do none of your cars have this backseat leg room. Why can I get that on a 22k price Legacy?
  25. i tend to think more that if all the manufacturers thought it was a dandy idea to go back to low revving 2 valve motors they would.
