  1. thats a purrty graph. all look almost the same. well, almost.
  2. damn you toyota!! hang your head in shame. you have dishonered us greatly. ok lets move on now. we still number one!! well, almost. but soon. ok? lets go forward now.
  3. out of that whole thing, maybe even ever that is the most concise and meaningful point youve made. and if i was to believe that, then i would say the review of the malibu is a clear indication of a warming up again. its hard to deny that point but at the same time its pretty evident the turnaround is well on its way. wish the same could be said for Ford...but even that too remains to be seen. i think a lot of people who were life long gmers or domestics in general that "switched" over felt like they were putting the family dog down. it wasnt what they wanted necessarily, just didnt really have a choice. these latest offering though are once again fodder...and maybe there isnt a true media bias, but its hard to look at a clear sky and say it isnt blue.
  4. i see it as process of elimination. you gotta talk about something, but you dont want to be biting the hand that feeds you either. all with a grain of salt...wonder if they plan on giving the awards for the "worst" japanese cars/trucks/anything with wheels we feel deserves an award. wanna play fair? pony up.
  5. ive seen so many contradictary reports about this car its almost laughable. most convertables...oh, it has flex, oh its suprisingly solid over the worst expansion bumps and ruts, oh this, oh, that, and the other thing...oh, blah blah blah. cry me a river. everyone who reviews anything has their own opinions. thats what they are paid to do, and good for them...doesnt make them, right. some are consistent, others bitch and moan for no reason or because they want everything to be as perfect as to what they envision perfection. big deal. and sometimes you find a critic who you can agree with. someone who time in and time out is on the money. and even then you dont always agree. and some feel as long as youre talking about it theyve done their job. thats my take.
  6. over 2.1. million. but its only july. plenty of time for anyone else to catch up, unless they keep up this pace. thats worldwide.
  7. as long as its fun, games, and humour abound... buickman: "if i dont sell a car in the next 15 minutes, im gonna club a baby seal! thats right, you heard me. a baby seal, so come on down to flint, and see Americas #1 buick salesman."
  8. all cars are overrated.
  9. toyota probably thought they had enough juice to get the laws changed.
  10. i knew people who held on to their betas because they swore theyd be back. even though it was a better system it wasnt accepted. i think pushrods are fine. if there was to be a comparison, beta would = ohc. it was supposedly a better system but just never caught on. i think reg thinks that ohv are more like laserdiscs. or maybe even 8 tracks. cassetes just suck and im glad thet are a thing of the past. http://www.autoblog.com/2005/12/08/autoblo...efinitive-rant/ i think everyone has their opinion, who is an "enthusiast" and sometimes engines like the corvettes make some people think twice but when the "average" consumer goes car hunting and the toyota or honda dealer starts telling the consumer their point of view then they become slanted. magz like cr dont help the cause either. you can find good and bad points in either application. i know what kind of engine i prefer.
  11. four people mustve clicked on it at the same, it had an overload and crashed. what a tease.
  12. clearly the long term benefits of any merger/aliance will benefit nissan/renault. ghosn not interested in anything less than a full merger with all the perks. so he says, for now. i dont doubt something good can come from this but like i read somewhere before gm isnt looking for a white knight to save them. especially if theyre going to have to give him the horse.
  13. maybe i should have asked how much money they saved instead of how much did they profit.
  14. hah, kind of like when you find the onion ring with your french fries. my cars been stalling out for no known reason lately while im driving or sometimes if i turn it off and run into the store it wont start for 5-10 mins. of course its over 15 yrs old and 100k but ill take a radio reboot anytime. the worst part is trying to explain it to someone.
  15. hot $h!. never thought about it like that in evolutionary terms. same as if an alligator or platypus had sat on an egg for however long only to find out it wasnt what they thought. or whatever is closest on the evolutionary scale. or if someone asked where did the first man/woman come from and you said a monkey. i think i dig what you are saying. so yeah basically an egg didnt appear from thin air. thats too bad. no gold star for you this time. walc: congrats on the car. havent seen any around here yet but it looks like a very nice ride. i know motor trend seemed like they liked it.
  16. Tenochtitlan is an example of ancient architecture.
  17. thanks for the math lesson. it was a joke. next up, vocabulary: do you know what pedant means? :AH-HA_wink: the square root of infinity is easy.
  18. and how did the egg get there? or more so, who kept the egg incubated then raised it and eventually turn into a delicious and tasty dinner? 1000? really? i didnt think our human computers could handle such an equation. are you sure about that?
  19. garlic and holy water. keep the bloodsuckers at bay.
  20. o.c., i know you had a rental cobalt that you were less than thrilled with, but is that whats coloring your perspective here? im not getting in the middle here i really dont think "superior" is exactly the case. and i especially certainly wouldnt go as far as to say "far superior". this site is usually pretty honest in my opinion. http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/new/rev...x.cfm/id/38695/ http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/new/rev...x.cfm/id/38637/ yes the civic is favored but its like the 3 series for small econo cars.
  21. thats the truth. thanks for the link but i wasnt around for it either. (maybe in a few years can update it to upn or wb, although i like dumont better).
  22. i know the weight differences are somewhat significant between iron and aluminum, but isnt iron an overall better engine. esp in a people mover/hauler big truck. at least as far as durability goes?
  23. cool, ok if thats the case. personally i wouldnt want a large sheet of glass over my head anyway. sure it makes for a nice view of giant hail falling from the sky but hey to each his own. reminds me of those "glass bottom boat" cruises.
  24. id guess it has to do more with style and trendiness. that and clever marketing/advertising. i always thought the jetta commercials for a while were geared in a particular way. im more curious to know about the most researched colors. ive seen numerous hot pink calibers and purple a3's and mazda miatas.
  25. you mean the investigation from sept of '05. what does toyotas sunroof have to do with that? is there a relationship in any way other than they are both made of glass?
