  1. cr's cover story is titled the "ethanol myth" apparently they discovered that it wont solve the worlds energy problems, but do admit its better for the environment. i guess anything to dissuade people from buying domestic e85 flex fuel capable cars is part of their agenda now too. for comparison; only a couple of nissans and a benz are capable.. as most here already know the mileage trade off is fairly modest. 2-4 mpg at least. and it seems highway mpg suffer the most. that and its hard to find for the majority of the country.
  2. there are still people who dont ride in a german built car because of the war. pearl harbor will always illicit strong emotion, same as say 9/11 always will. but to hold a grudge? im not sure. everbody suffered and dont hesitate to think that if they had the bomb first san fransiscco or la or seattle would have been leveled. they already had plans to use bio and chem weapons on the w. coast. it was war and no ones hands were clean. on the lighter side of grudges.... This is the transcript of the ACTUAL radio conversation of a British Naval ship and the Irish, off the coast of Kerry, Oct 95. Radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations. 10 - 10 - 95: IRISH: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the South, to avoid a collision. BRITISH: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the North, to avoid a collision. IRISH: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision. BRITISH: This is the Captain of a British navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course. IRISH: Negative. I say again, You will have to divert your course. BRITISH: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER HMS BRITIANNIA. THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE BRITISH ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS, AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, I SAY AGAIN, THAT IS 15 DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER- MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP. IRISH: We are a lighthouse. Your call.
  3. Ladies and gentlemen, we've just lost the picture, but what we've seen speaks for itself. And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves. its just part of a commercial and the magic that is the movies. its on gms homesite.
  4. this is especially good for all those people who want to get a car that they need to last them because they drive so damn much. most people, average drive 10 -12k per year. but those on the fence who wont even look in gm's direction because they commute long and far now have a rather convincing reason.
  5. oh, great answer by the way. it was the lighting.... preproduction sounds more plausible. still funny nonetheless.
  6. that still doesnt account for the asymetry of the 4 buttons under the hazard flashers...towards the left. or the horrendous wear and smudginess of the buttons. it probably is preproduction. and its f@#king filthy. they shouldve at least hosed it down first. gave it a little cleaning. ya know tidy er up. who cares though, dodges still look meaner if thats what your after. and thats the "characteristic" theyre most after it looks to me. the chevies look the best and when theyre finally on the road i have no doubt whatsoever that will be validated. its a classy looking truck and got the goods to walk the walk.
  7. chill biscuit. i just wouldnt cndemn a car because of one experience. i had a uhaul toyota that i swore i was gonna die in. and i only backed it up! i wouldnt damn all toyotas because of it. although, i guess i could.
  8. toyota tries way too hard. and people fall for it right now. just wait though. every single toyota product looks dated. theres no timeless - ness about them. at all. and thats sad.
  9. gas prices are down. a lot of people think its gonna stay that way. i heard closer to two $ than three. i dont doubt it, its pretty clear we dont want to pay more than 3 bux a gallon. so f them. f that. i could go on.
  10. i cant believe you still go on about the rental cobalt you once had. it may we3ll have been a hunk of $h! but it was a rental with 12,000 miles on it. the important part being a rental. one crappy source doesnt make for that compelling of an argument. but other than that whats the problem. weve all had $h!ty rentals. some worse and some much worse than others. who knows what the hell happens to these cars. abuse. go check out a new one or used new one. or new used one. and theres been a clean recall record so far as far as i know. nothing like this. Component: Vehicle Speed Control: Accelerator Pedal Defect Summary: CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE PEDAL WERE NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED AND MAY COME LOOSE AT THE FLOOR MOUNTING. Consequence Summary: IF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS NOT INSERTED PROPERLY, THE PEDAL CAN COME LOOSE FROM THE PEDAL STOPPER CAUSING THE THROTTLE TO BECOME STUCK INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. Corrective Summary: DEALERS WILL RESET THE PEDAL OR REPLACE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 14, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009. its a pretty damn good selling car as it is of now anyway. so it does compete.

    camry craze

theres no camry craze. its the status quo from toyota... the next car to eat into camry sales can be termed a "craze"...such as the 300's for example are a craze. if the malibu and impalas of the next gen are a success, then thatd be considered a craze. this is just more of the same. no shock here.
  12. way to overgeneralize there frankie. if you are going to challenge peoples criticisms maybe this isnt the best line of work for you. you should at least have your facts before you start clicking away. it was oldsmobile, a subsidiary of the gm company.. it was the ealry 40's and it was a 4 speed auto. the first. mopar had one earlier but it wasnt a true auto, more of a semi that hunted between 2 lower and 2 upper gears....the best i can tell everything else is your opinion, and you are entitled to that...no matter how wrong you may be. how lazy have journalist become, or at least of the website variety.
  13. its all a a double edged sword. it takes more than one person to make a difference even if it is the president. besides if he said i love ford and/or chevy. theyre the greatest trucks and cars in the world....how many people would solely stop buying them because he said that. or at least raise awareness. the product has to speak for itself. would you care if a guy that you knew was a retard said something about anything and that it was good or bad? would you take his word for it? thats why they say any press is good...or any publicity is good publixcitiy. however it goes. you be the judge. just to go on a little further, the fact gm was number one for so long and they lost, it could so happen to anyone else. they were the best for a reason and if they keep at it they will be there again while the others faulter. all with a grain of salt. time will tell. you be the judge. and if it really is about politics then tell your congress people. let them know because they want your vote and the majority wins. what if every senator was aware of the situations and the inherent complexities... and that their political life was at stake? what then? i dont want to get too wordy about this but sometime i worry about the future of this country. and i usually dont say things like that.

    Pictures!

thats not what you want. the pictures dont lie. dont settle. its a big world out there.
  15. if they couldnt have both the tranns and the hybrid available at the same time, id tend to think the hybrid first would be the better decision...these are pretty remarkable trucks unregardless ...i think thats right. the chevy website has a very nice page about the new trucks...check it out if ya can....chevy.com, you should be able to figure out the rest from there. 200% increase in tortional stiffness...thats all im gonna say. wow.
  16. those are some nice pictures there flybri... the one on the front page i can see the lines of the profile and the wayhe door handles line up, not to mention the swirling reflection of the other car on the lot. gorgeous. and it shows up as purposelful and eyecatching design to me. in a good way. i have no doubt this will be a competant car. one that will go tet a tet with anything and everything else in its class.
  17. metallica/gnr was the first concert i went to...giants stadium. someone threw a lighter at axl rose hit him in the balls and he left the show in middle of a song. just left the band and crowd hanging. a couple weeks later there was riots at another show...metallica went on first and they were pretty damn good....i missed faith no more that night...that would piss me off for a while. they were such an underrated band and mr.bungle there has one of the best voices.... a big influence on my music.....anyway, metallica was much better while they were drinking. they picked newstead so they obviously like him... les claypool also auditioned. and justice was the first cd i ever bought...and subsequently the first i lost(but not the last).... their sound became too homogonized after that and kirks playing got way to technical. it always was but much more so in my opinion. i always thought he lacked a certain passion or soul in his playing. very generic. ive since sold all my metallica cds except master and killem all(i think)...they made their choice and cant say as i blame them. pretty good find, although i thought the cd was good as is...slightly over produced but not as much as lightning.
  18. whats this chip on the shoulder for honda? theres so many great looking and performing cars out there that dont start with an "h" its not the end all be all of automodum...g-dd-mn i hope not.
  19. people who dont care dont know. its sad when you ask some basic questions like how many miles do you get? or when was the last time you changed your spark plugs. reality is perception sometimes.
  20. the quote you supplied was signed by richard wagoner. the guy in charge. pretty obviously someone is taking responsibilty.
  21. gas over here is 3.25/3.3/9. cant forget those 9/10ths of a penny. bastards. id gladly pay 2.69 or whatever for e 85. even if it gets a little less mpg. the trade off is performance and not supporting those greedy ass oil sons a bitches. well worth it, in my humble opinion.
  22. i dont know, but either way its pretty clever. the title alone: "how i got my video camera" i want to believe this ones real, but deep down theres something telling me its a little fishy...like that guy would just happen to be driving around with a gun on him...not completely buying that... not bad though. kidve entertaining.
  23. maybe, but itd have to get pretty bad for that to happen. i dont think its plan "a" the dealers around me over here are all combined anyway. cadillac/ hummer. chevy/pontiac/cadillac... theres gotta be a way to keep it going.
