First Impressions: 2020 Toyota Corolla: Comments
A Horse With No Name replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in LA Auto Show
Although there are passionate Prius owners...I know a few. And it has unique styling and features. The Corrolla is more of an appliance than my dryer. At least my Dryer, made by Speed Queen, is built from a long standing American company. Props to Dfelt for suggesting that. -
I have a real soft spot for this era of GM products.
-
I think I just found another car I would love to own....!
-
This is entirely hot. I will gladly give up GM trying to be everything to everyone with lots full of cars at deep discount if they can bring me this. Holy S#!% this thing is lustworthy. You know tuners will....where is that hellcat...here kitty kitty kitty....

A PERFECT CAR FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE CARS. -
Hmmmm...that 64 Wagon you posted a few years back...a Nomad...maybe a 40 Ford Woodie to bring a bit of diversity...I think I just found myself another dream car garage.
-
Exactly....Although it would be an awesome powertrain Option. Kind of like the l79 66 Nova that was supposedly faster than some of the Vettes they offered that year... No sane person could look at the new Regal and say that Buicks are just for Old people. No sane person.

First Impressions: 2020 Lincoln Aviator: Comments

Again, passion...why did they not offer this powertrain option? And the Corvair Yenko Stinger outran Shelby Mustangs....take THAT Ford...and this coming from a guy whose previous 66 Mustang Fastback was his favorite ever car. I would rock a rusty Vega without heat through a dozen Ohio winters before I would ever cheer for Dallas...

How can you fit in an Escort and not fit in any other passenger car, domestic or foreign? Ford must really work some powerful magic...maybe they should have loaned some of that magic to GM Agree completely. Look...I am not saying that it is a bad car. I am saying I would like to see GM take all of that wasted motion and use it elsewhere. How awesome would a new Riviera be? Build that in Lordstown, instead of importing the Cascadia from Poland or wherever. How about all of the vendors and suppliers who will be screwed....this is going to go far beyond 15,000 jobs. Especially if the replacement vehicles are built in Mexico, China, or wherever. You redeemed yourself in spectacular fashion.

I will fully give you that Ford is walking through the front door on this one. And the RS is indeed a sexy beast. Even I might be willing to cross party lines for THAT... Ohhh it is a dandy little car....it's just a division 1 College sophomore trying to play in the NFL. I never said it was a bad car....just that it was outclassed. Given the amount of financial good the Corvair did GM...the passion was the passion of two 15 year olds fooling around in the back seat of that 64 Bonneville. They were not sure what to do once the clothes came off, and things went downhill from there. Same with GM's small car offerings... We didn't say good, we insinuated passionate...see above response...

Agree. I actually see this as a good thing in many ways. Stop building cars you are not passionate about. GM has not been passionate about small cars in its 60 plus year history of building them. Saturn never made a dime for them. Corvair was a public relations disaster. Cavalier seems to have been un-sexy enough to induce involuntary celibacy into every owner who bought one, save one member here who owns one and has a son. Cobalt lacked the styling and finesse of its competition. The current Cruze falls light years behind the Mazda 3, Civic, Golf, Imprezza, and Hundai offering. Off topic again...I really like you...please...please...please tell me you are not a Dallas fan. Please.

....and Yet the Corolla still has a cult following, go figure. Civic and Mazda 3 will be on a short list for replacing the wife's car, Corolla will not. Will also be interested to see how quiet the new 3 is on the road, something previous 3's have not always excelled at. And i wish Honda built more Civic Si's. -
Blazer is by far the best looking of the above vehicles.

Dull conventional and boring, but some people want an appliance. Kudos to Toyota for being able to profitably build and sell a small car here in the US where GM could not. -
First Impressions: 2020 Kia Soul: Comments

I like that they offer a nice variety of packages and options. I can say the same about the Jeep Renegade. The automotive DNA inside of me that makes me like funky small cars makes me like funky small crossovers and SUV's. -
Agree with you here. Although I do kind of like both the Blazer and the Aviator. I have been feeling kind of hostile (or extremely hostile, to be honest) about our domestic OEMs...both the Blazer and aviator are a breath of fresh air IMHO. He is indeed free though not to like it for whatever reason. To me, I find the styling on the Blazer a major plus.

Not my thing, but they have done a heck of a nice job with the new variant. Should do well for them.
