  1. Cadillac, like Subaru, Mazda, Porsche, Lotus, and the like successfully build and sell cars because they are not everything to everyone. Subaru has zero interest in building a diesel dually and Porsche is not whoring itself out by building a cheap entry level sedan like the CLA of Benz. Sports car is out of character for Cadillac, see what I wrote above.
  2. Next you will be wanting them to sell sewing machines.
  3. It is like 33 grand and they are expecting to sell them out. Also, I would damn sure drive this before I would drive a C class.
  4. I have to agree with Balthazar here. When you can build a Cadillac hot enough to turn on a hard core sport compact fan like myself you are doing something right.
  5. As far as a DCT, it is coming. Bought the TDI from one local VW dealer and the Beetle from another...both are seeing a much lower take rate for manual transmission vehicles.
  6. Or God forbid have options and interesting colors so you can get what you want. VW, Ford, Honda, Subaru, Fiat, Mazda...all are very good at keeping production of sporty small cars restricted to keep profit High. You can get a nice All track for 30k, they can surely sell a Golf R for less than 40 grand and make a profit. But the other side of me likes lower production because it keeps resale value up in the used market and keeps cars like this profitable so car makers want to build them. We're I to get a Type R Civic I think I would want black because it would tone down the excess.
  7. I may ahve to come up and assist you with that, you bought dinner last time, i owe you one...
  8. See I do like the Fox body Mustangs in particular and mustangs in general. Saw a nice Fox body Mustang convertible out cruising when i was out with my wife last night...
  9. Cmicasa-I do not fault Cadillac on product other than concerns over electrical issues that we discussed previously. Correct me if I am wrong but I think their problems are more in terms of marketing and public perception than product. ...and one editorial comment. It is a sad day in mudville when I as the import guy on the forum give Cadillac a more fair shake than a lot of GM fans....just sayin...that attitude from the 2009 post you referenced has not changed with some people...
  10. Actually most people I know find the Civic very modern and very attractive. It certainly beats the Frumpy Corolla, the dated and awkward Focus, and the awkward Forte. I wish them success at this, I actually despite my sarcasm really kind of like the R and the SI. It's just that from a personal standpoint there are cars in this segment I would rather own personally.
  11. ...and this is where I am....everything is decent...nothing whatsoever other than the mustang or the f series truck wins out over the competition for me on any kind of a real basis. My newest daily driver was a 1985 Ford Mustang...we bought it as a late model used car back about 1990 or so...every ford I ahve owned has been eligible for Historical plates for the better part of a decade or better. But I would agree, Jeep has multiple orders of magnitude better emotional appeal than anything Ford builds as a SUV IMHO. Honestly for a jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with the right off road package and in the right color...I don't think Ford builds a product outside of the GT I would rather own.
  12. I have issues with Ford motor company itself for whatever reason...here in Columbus we ahve Germain Ford which might be one of the most professional dealerships in all of Columbus. Nothing but positive to say about them. Although i went in there a few years back with one of my friends to drive a particular Ford performance product...friend was one of my SCCA buddies who loves to drive fast...salesman said give her all she's got, drive as fast as you want....I think the salesman's face went purple when the car took a freeway on ramp at triple digit speeds...
  13. The seven people who actually live in the united States and want a Taurus are pretty much pissed, actually.
  14. Just build something capable of time travel and you will be all set... Yes seriously anything goes, you can have concepts...
  15. ...and for a hundred grand it is one hell of a bargain...
  16. I have a friend from College who has never gotten married and her life has not worked out the best in some ways....she drives a Sentra...I weep a little bit every time I even look at a picture of her car...
  17. Park it in the driveway next to your grand daughters boyfriends hotted up 2047 Toyota 86 from the other thread.....yes you can haz concepts... I love the Baja from that Era....thanks for posting that...this brings back memories...!
  18. Your grand daughter can go to prom with her future (as yet unborn for a few decades) boyfriend in the hotted up Toyota 86 that finally comes out...
  19. I wonder what the depreciation curve is on the TT RS vs the Cayman. If you have any real world information I would be honestly curious. I kind of forget about the TT, but I really like it. Sorry, meant to type used 911....but I would gladly spend an additional ten grand to get a 911 over the Demon.
  20. One can go back eight or nine years here and find people whining about rear wheel drive vs front wheel drive. One of the women in my wife's department at work bitches on a regular basis about a co worker who drives a Ford Mustang because no one in Ohio should drive rear wheel drive cars because they will kill themselves and the winter and just because...rear wheel drive. The anti Ford guy in me is quite happy to see Lexus, Cadillac, Mercedes, Acura, BMW all posting better numbers than Lincoln.
  21. If you are somehow implying the majority of people entering these discussions are somehow in their right mind I have oceanfront property in Minnesota to sell you.
  22. That, A Cayman, or any number of other cars. 85K will also buy a truly nice 911....
  23. This actually is very similar to my initial list...and I actually think this is one of the best lists so far to date. Interested in what the other guys come up with.
