There is actual talk in japan of a high performance Prius, believe it or not. Not sure that would ever make it state side....but it would be unusual to say the least. Agree on the Golf entirely...prefer it over the Focus ST/RS and the Civic by far...- 32 replies

Cadillac News: 2018 Cadillac XTS Puts on A CT6 Face
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
This is a semantic discussion and I can see all sides. I have a love of the old land yachts...but was rather surprised when I ate at a restaurant with my parents in North Carolina with my parents. We went after a local car show.... Was surprised at how the imperials, Impalas, and Invictas of the day were dwarfed by modern large SUV's. I would say that dinosaurs still live...because Birds have a genetic and evolutionary link back to dinosaurs according to evolutionary biologists. the ahve just biologically descended to become something else... In the same way the Sedan Deville of 1974 has become the Escalade, and the Impala of 1968 has become the Suburban. ...or the language itself has evolved... in 1890 the word Gay meant happy and well dressed...not what it means today. Everything changes and evolves, from hair styles to fashion to housing choices to language... Full size car has historically had a lot of different meanings. Using the word one way does not preclude it being used another. -

I disagree...not completely my cup of tea...but not ugly in the sense you claim. I am warming up to it.- 32 replies

Right... because serious off roaders always want a hundred grand vehicle for serious off road work... My wife works with people getting financial aid. She routinely sees people graduating sixy grand in debt with an associate's degree from a community college. But you are not doing hard core off roading...the Escalade is perfectly capable in it's element.

Agree almost entirely with Olds... Malibu premier over CLA... Fusion Sport also... The last Mercedes products I really liked were from the 60s and 70s...fair to say the factory warranty on every last one of those things is long since expired.

Cadillac News: 2018 Cadillac XTS Puts on A CT6 Face

If we are going to talk dark days, there is a huge number of cars much darker during the 90s and early 2000s than anything Cadillac thought to build. The local Mitsubishi club does not recognize the final generation of Eclipse as a legitimate Mitsubishi but they recognize the Mirage...let that sink in for a moment. -
My Mini is much more reliable than my sister's Odyssey, my father's Highlander, my Nephew's Pathfinder, my neighbors F-150, my Brother in laws Pilot... Asian vehicles are wildly over rated in terms of reliability... He also thinks in terms of a zero sum game...he finds down talking Cadillac to be more uplifting of Benz than actually talking about Mercedes cars. Subaru has one exciting sedan and they sell more cars in the USA than Benz... But....it's not German!

If GM did some interesting things with the Trax it would get me into a show room.

Now that my children are growing up, I think me and the Mrs are going to ahve a lot of fun road tripping mine. I am enjoying our friendship on line by the way...we will (along with Frisky Dingo) have the Sport compact garages here at C and G.... ...and yes the room is fantastic...and the visibility... -

Yes, I got 18's also...and it is the R line....with the 2.0 from the GTI and nice 4 wheel disc brakes. Actually think this is going to be one of my favorite cars to own...I do not have the sunroof. It is wildly under appreciated for what it is... -

This is quite frankly insane. Local Ford dealers did the same thing when the two seat T bird was hot in the early 2000's....some of the same cars they wanted a ten thousand dollar markup for they ended up selling at a ten K discount when the market went soft. Local Ford dealers were asking 15 grand over sticker on the Focus RS when it came out... Aztec was just Gm trying to be innovative...plenty of BMW crossovers just as freaking ugly that are the darlings of suburban neighborhoods as tasteless consumers. I would be fine paying 25 or 27 k for it as a regular production automobile if I had more choice in terms of color and options. As it is, it is a very unique specialty vehicle....and one I would still pass up for other choices.- 32 replies

Cadillac News: 2018 Cadillac XTS Puts on A CT6 Face
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
I hope your not saying I have a double standard. the only real criticism I ahve of Benz is personal, they really do not appeal to me. I do not expect a John Cooper Works Mini Coupe to appeal to SMK either. To each his own. To expect every car maker to ahve a completely refreshed lineup all of the time is just madness. current Jetta is quite a few years old, local VW dealers are selling them hand over fist. Clarkson is an arrogant asshole who succeeds because he is an arrogant asshole. Bill O Reilly is the same way....Megyn Kelly is only successful because she has blonde hair and firm breasts... I don't really consider Clarkson competent to review automobiles nor do I consider O' Reily or Kelly journalists. Poorly chosen source IMHO. That being said....again...why am I as the import guy here the one not throwing Cadillac under the bus....1998 is almost two decades ago....how desperate are we to slut shame the domestics? -

I have had that thought...I absolutely love that car. The beetle we just bought should be paid for on a short term basis...and my 16 year old daughter is the last kid in school...she will be a junior this fall. My wife and I are looking forward to a few decades without children to worry about to travel and enjoy a few cars. Since we are now car pooling into work...a car like the Challenger which would eat up highway miles quite happily would be a dream come true. Fair enough...! -

...and Don't feel bad if people don't want to discuss them at some point. I love Mazda, Mini and Subaru...not exactly everyone's favorite brand around here.

You are handling this all wrong. Instead of slut shaming Cadillac for what they do and don't do... Start a Benz club using the Club feature here. We are all car guys...we would welcome a robust discussion of the AMG cars or the Benz F1 efforts... I can't speak for the other guys...but yeah I will happily learn about the actual cars if you want to discuss them.
