  1. Interesting that Optima is off this much. It is about due for a serious refresh I think.
  2. They have stopped some of the bleeding at MINI but they are taking on water as fast as troubled Volkswagen as an overall car maker. This might bolster the idea that every luxury car maker will have to make some serious adjustments to current market forces.
  3. Looking at cars in a dispassionate sort of way is really difficult when you love them. I struggle with that all of the time.
  4. Of the above, love the M4 and Raptor!
  5. A lot of students are graduating with a crap ton of debt and living at home also. That is not helping matters here. not the main cause, but it would be a substantial number of sales if people did not have high College debt and could find decent jobs.
  6. So, we have been having some good discussions here, some a little bit heated, some that bring a lot of light to the subject. to lighten thing sup a bit we bring you Dream car garage, Snap On truck edition. My old boss from several years ago used to love to scuba dive. He found an entirely intact Snap on truck full of tools off of a bridge on a fairly deep river that was a tributary to lake Michigan. Cold water kept the tools in decent shape, he was able to actually turn several of them back in to Snap On for exchange. Guy from Snap On was like "wow, this is some unique stuff, tools we have not sold since the 1950's." This is your chance to let the little kid in you out and break things for no good reason. Assume that a car carrier with 5 new cars is going to go off the same bridge. For the sake of discussion, we will assume the truck driver managed to swim free and that fluids have been somehow drained from the vehicles in question so we are not polluting the water as much. You may pick up to 5 cars, but they need to be from 5 different automotive manufacturing groups. You cannot "RAM" a Fiat 500 into the river bed. nor can you afFORD to sink both a Mustang and an F-150. Mazda, Subaru and Toyota often work together but we will consider them separate. So if your yen is to sink some cars bought with yen....have at it. Assuming you are tasked with sinking 5 MY 2016-2017 cars, what do you sink and why? We will also include a stack of the really crappy lumber that even Lowes or Home depot would throw out, so if the fish want to build an actual dream car garage for your less than ideal dream cars.... My list- #1. Dodge Journey-my neighbor to the right of me was a very loyal buy American kind of guy....until he owned a Journey that was completely a PITA. He now drives Asian cars and swears he won't be back to domestics. #2. Nissan Maxima-i am really tired of sedans that advertise as sports sedans that ahve nothing sporty about them. #3. Kia Soul-Despite some members here who really like them, I find this perhaps the least interesting and most appliance like new car on sale today. #4. Mitsubishi Mirage, just because.....it is an utter crap box. #5. Smart car....there is nothing redeeming about this vehicle at all!
  7. Glad their is some F type love here, to me it is one of the most unique and likeable premium cars.
  8. Corolla Sedan doing well, one of their better products. Prius sales will remain slower as long as fuel remains cheap. Interesting that Camry is loosing sales here. Tacoma is up, not surprising in the least. Lexus sedan market is in the toilet like everyone else.
  9. interesting that A4 is up so much.
  10. Could well be. I think given the low prices in the sued car market, the sued market is now fairly flooded with lease returns and late model trades. Interesting to see what is selling well and what isn't. And I did read something somewhere about big money on the hood of the RAM.
  11. I have a soft spot for the Evora also.
  12. And will continue to. With all of our heated talk in the luxury car segment around here, I wonder how Audi will be affected 5 years down the road? What developmental projects are being cut or slashed? VW/Audi seems to be behind in battery technology, one wonders if they will fall further behind due to less of an R and D budget.
  13. What happened to the car market that everything fell on its face like this?
  14. They have suffered far more than they should have. And yes, the TDI is a fantastic product, especially if you are 2015 or newer with the eA288 motor.
  15. Acura car sales are in the toilet big time. Down big into double digits....
  16. Or power a Pinto hybrid with them...twice the bang for the Buck!
  17. They are bleeding and need to stop the bleeding. The Golf is not selling well, and the Beetle si a dead vehicle rolling. .
  18. F type and Hornet are both wonderful!
  19. They need to catch up to GM, Toyota , Tesla, and Ford with battery technology.
  20. Glad you liked it. And thanks for putting up with a bunch of old 50's and 60's stuff on my other lists...I am in a vintage frame of mind as of late!
  21. Oh no, please do. If you can provide marketing information or brand perception information that is part of an actual third party marketing survey, I am open to changing my mind if that is presented. I by no means am the final arbiter of what makes a Luxury car. Cool, thanks for sharing. Look at the center stack and compare it to the Acura center stack. you will see what I meant when i said that I found the Lincoln more user friendly. What do you do at Ford? Sadly that Started as an NSX I think.
  22. A bit of stupid Acura humor to lighten up the thread....we now take you back to dashboard plastics.
  23. http://www.autoblog.com/2016/11/01/v...hip-next-year/ Dieselgate has its costs.
