Cheap way forward?
Since I fix heating as well as AC and electrical, by all means, bring it on. Camino, I'd say get rid of the Tahoe ASAP, and if it comes down to it, I'd take a small personal loan, even though your opposed to doing so. Two grand for an extra nice plow truck (an additional two grand that is ) can be made up in a week or so of plowing..... My daughter (the older of the two you met in Philly) is getting ready to head off to college next year, she's going to be spending far more than two grand... Two grand is a minimal amount to borrow in terms of your livelihood and your ability to take care of yourself.

Roger Party, your GMC is ready!
Glad to know that these trucks are still this affordable, as so much other stuff has shot up into the stratosphere.

The Year Is: 1997
Hate to say this, but the answer for me is obvious. You guys know of my affinity for smaller roadsterish vehicles. I think a Viper would be a bit much, and I like the prowler so....yeah...the Prowler. Just wish that they had built it with a manual. Second choice would be a Mustang in the Cobra level o trim, third choice....would be the Viper, fourth choice would be the Firebird....

Some COE Love
It is a cool thread, but I couldn't look at it very long because everything was upside down. But seriously, a request...could we pump up the truck love around here a little bit...I am really enjoying it! Thanks for the link, Z!

Roger Party, your GMC is ready!
Which is why I said rat rod or fair weather cruiser. Although for guys like GMCTG and I, it is easier sometimes to sweat it our one moulding or one trim piece at a time, than to go for a fully restored truck. In my case, I have a few body shops willing to do Electrical/HVAC work in trade for body work, so I could swap favors and cut deals on THAT end of it. Also, I'd be perfectly happy with the old 350/350 setup, as long as the truck looked mostly original.... But I am liking this project. The trucks of this era are growing on me...I previously really liked the 48-55 ERA of GM truck better...but I am seeing what Roger likes in these.... What would really help is some advice on buying a project...what are these trucks really worth as projects, and what are they really worth done....

MIDSIZE SEDANS
Enjoy the race! Fullsize premium car is another matter, were I in another state of life, I could see owning a CTS or a 300...both really nice cars.

Roger Party, your GMC is ready!
Full resto would bankrupt a small third world nation, but making it a decent rad rod or decent cruiser is doable. I like this truck, and actually this thing is making me think....

What did your Chevy truck do today?
A bit funny with my Chevy work truck...was buying fuel at the end of a long day, and as the pump clicked off, I turned around and looked behind me...my wife was fueling the MINI at the other side of the same pump. I've always kind of considered her my soul mate...but perhaps our cars are also. Chevy truck clicked off at $77.66, MINI Clicked off at $44.33.... And as for hard scaping...that's tough work....

MIDSIZE SEDANS
Pretty Accurate, actually, the fusion is still the best of the bunch...however, the chances of my buying a midsize sedan are about the chances That Rick Perry will be the next democratic nominee for president....

I wish I was in a better position for a long term project, I would actually buy this myself. I have decided to cut my automotive bucket list to two vehicles, I would like to possibly still build a Factory Five Cobra, and I would really love a vintage truck. This pretty much takes the kit price of a Factory five and lops a zero off, making it muhc more do-able. NEAT project.... I am in a lot of lust over this one, actually.

Went to see this today
Makes sense... And that nicer Camino you posted, the already fixed up one for 11.5K, gives me hope I can own an older Chevrolet truck some day myself (or GMC).

Went to see this today
I Could never stand looking at it long enough to notice... Why buy something with the fuel economy and limitations of a full size truck, but none of the utility or benefits? They have been an excessively slow seller for Honda.

VW News: Introducing The 7th Generation Golf
I get a very different Vibe fromk VW, but I know a bunch of old air cooled VW guys, a bunch of TDI guys, and a bunch of guys who race and autocross cars like the GTI and GLI. The "granola" VW crowd isn't on my radar. But yeah, other than a MINI Coupe as a performance car, or a Miata as a Convertible, to me the Golf GTI and TDI are the ultimate small cars. I would actually rather drive a GTI than a C class benz or a 5 Class BMW....or a Lincoln, or a Lexus for that matter.

The Year Is: 1989
I would take the Jeep Wrangler, no questions asked. As Camino said, they can be a miserable vehicle in terms of ride quality and build quality, but they are a hoot in the summer with the top off. I still want one...
