  1. Interesting how popular the Grand Cherokee is in this program. There are a BUNCH on dealer lots around here!
  2. It does just suck doesn't it, YJ? The world is now safe for the Sante Fe Crosssover. Meaning Hyundai can sell more cars because people will forget what a real car is like. Chris
  3. A white Cadillac just like the spray painted one showed up at (where else?) my local Hyundai dealer. Along with: Suburban in near perfect shape blue on blue extended cab Dakota 4wd Truck, nice A fullsize Dodge 4WD Ext. cab, maroon, clean Another Amazing Grand Cheorkee And too much else to mention. Hernnstein, the local Hyundai peoiple, claimed in Thursdays paper to have taken in over 80 cars. I believe it. Overflow lot is full, bact i full, side lot is full. One saving grace-a bunch of Honda Pilots and Isuzu Rodeos. Sadly, another nice 2 door Cutty also showed up on the dead line. All of those people...owners of a new Hyundai! Amazing. Chris
  4. Actually, I can see both Croc's and Satty's point of view. The biggest problem is that we don't do anything with the cars that come through Pick and Pull. We have a good "Pick and Pull" yard here on the south end of Columbus, and there are a couple of other good yards here I go to for parts. You would be amazed at the stuff that comes through there. Mildly damaged 4th gen LS1 cars, Aurora's, Allante's, Reatta's, FWD cuttry ragtops, some really cool stuff. I need another junkayrd thread for modern GM stuff. You guys would be AMAZED at the cars that get crushed.
  5. I could see the Renault thing happening. Chris
  6. Three things of interest....coming home from work last night. First of all... nice 78-79 Olds Cutlass, clean but not showroom clean, silver, decent. 88 Ford Mustang foxbody hatchback, nothing exceptional but not rusted, modded, or destroyed either. These cars have almost disappeared from the road around here. A Caprice wagon, Maroon, Yellow tribal style flames, with two lime green surfboards on top and 22" wheels...Oh...and a high rise cowl induction hood. Quite the odd car, but it almost half ass worked in a half ass sort of way. Oh, and make that 4. Really good looking Solstice...white...black top....nicely polished wheels. Chris
  7. A really nice one in black shows up at our local Autocrosses. Guy who drives it is a really nice guy. ...and actually I am going to have to disagree with you guys here. While there are Japanese cars I like, and while I am more open to foreign cars than most of the rest of the guys here... I more or less hate this car. Not in the same way I hate say Kia, but I just don't like it at all. Just my own subjective opinion, and I'll be happy if DF adds one to the fleet. But...ughhh. Dash and interior is terrible, IMHO. Chris
  8. For some unknown even to God reason I'm having faith GM will get this one right. However, VW and Hyundai are on the rise bigtime, Ford is bringing in two very good heavy hitters, (Focus and Fiesta) Chryco has Fiat pushing it to build excellent small cars, Honda and Toyota aren't going anywhere, Nissan will remain popular... It is going to be a very crowded field. And carmakers know the price of gas will never go down so they will continue to dump big bucks into this. So I wish them the best of Luck. And I have high hopes. If they get it right I may even buy one. But a whole lot remains to be seen. Chris
  9. Agrred, 'blu. We live right down the road from the Ohio Auto Auction, the larget auto auction in Ohio. There is a car lot at the corner where I stop and kick tires once in awhile. A twenty year old Cadillac is still held together better than a 2 year old Kia. Hyundai has made some progress, but if you ask me toyota and Honda have regressed, and Nissan "never was all that" to begin with. BTW, even a MUCH nicer cadillac than the white one with spray paint at my Local Hyundai dealer. Chris
  10. I don't hate our government so much as think the plan is misguided. Why does my local Lincoln-Mercury dealer have 2 CFC cars and my local Hyundai dealer is pushing 35-40? Lots of families that need new cars are going to get rid of a POS. Just hate to see something like a Roadmaster die... Chris
  11. 5 years of wage slavery to a bank at $409 a month in 60 not so easy..."easy payments..." Chris
  12. The Hundai Santa Fe is a POS. She will be sorry she did that methinks. Chris
  13. I know I sure would! Esp. if they still had the yellow for the sky redline... Chris
  14. Volvo's are damned good cars. Shame that one had to die. Chris
  15. Program is for 84 and up. And TED, thanks for the videos. Chris
  16. Glad to see things working out, mr Balthazar! Hopefully you and Mrs. balthazar can "break in" the new Malibu while it is in the garage and the boys are sleeping! (just kidding...sort of.) Good luck to you! Chris
  17. That or a Suburban either one. Drive past the local Hyundai dealer on the way home. They must have been busy last night. 5 (Yeah 5) additional 'burbans on the dead line, as well as a really nice Grand Cherokee. Grand Cherokee looked like it was six damn months old. It was a 2000 or something but the damn thing was just flawless. Chris
  18. I agree, Camino. It would be a boring world if we were all the same. Chris
  19. BTW, when you do paint the care, you may wish to take it to bare metal. It's what I did with my 55 Chevy, my 66 Mustang Fastback, and my 71 Chevelle. Use a good grade respirator and aircraft paint stripper. ...and invite a few buds over for beer. Took my about 3 days of work on each car to get them really good and clean. But it made all of the difference in the world in terms of final product. When/if I find my old Chevy truck I'm going to redo...it will be bare metal also. Good luck with her and keep us posted. Again, dude...nice looking ride! Chris
  20. Jeeps are made in Toledo Ohio. Sad to see so much built in my home state gone to scrap. I think everyone in Toledo should wear black given the number of good Jeeps killed. Chris
  21. This is without a doubt intentional. I mean, how other than being hit with near lethal force in the head would one ever find Acuras current lineup attractive? Chris
  22. As anyone can tell...I am very passionate about this. Why else would I have 25 or 30 posts in the other thread? However...I think for some people this program will do them a lot of good. Looking over the dealer lots, lots of vehicles in not great shape are getting crushed. Several really cool vehicles are getting crushed, like the 29K original mile 84 Cutlass I wrote about in the other thread. In real terms, as one of my old room-mates from Alabama once said "we're already screwed" We have lost perhaps a few thousand cars out of the 250,000 or so vehicles they will crush. The guys that will take this hardest will be the off road guys, as so many Jeeps are being lost. My wife has a relative that got his Jeep in JP magazine. The offroad guys have a whole different outlook on this. The other hobbyists I feel sorry for are the Circle Track guys and the Engene builders, as so many good V8 cores will be destroyed. Chris
  23. Hey YellowJacket Didn't notice the neat old CJ in the back-ground... Chris
  24. Exactly, 98 Regency. Since Hyundai is making so many sales, how happy will these people be at 70k miles when their crapbox falls apart and they owe 12k still on a 2k car? Chris
  25. This idiot traded his V8 Firebird for a Prius.... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31804730/ns/lo...ws-new_york_ny/ Chris
