i haven't been in or drove Brooklyn Decker and Jennifer Lawrence but at least i think its alright to speculate about preferences based on photos............ Never heard of them...porn stars or reality TV stars or something? Anyway, so if this new Malibu is an MY 2013 and it's only April 2011, it sounds like the 2012 MY is going to be shortened for the Malibu? Production will begin in early Calendar Year 2012 so the 2012 MY Malibu will probably be truncated and only made through the end of 2011.

It's close, Exterior is close, but the Malibu is more bold and unique. Interior is also close, but the Regal interior isn't awash with too many contrasting colours (two tone seats with a third, contrasting stitching and lighting colour). Design also seems more sorted even though I don't really like the seats in the Regal, not as much thigh support as my Impala even. Malibu has more power in the base model, but the Regal comes with more kit standard no doubt. If money were no object I'd pick the Regal, however narrowly... but the pricing is a factor- if you can get a LTZ Malibu for less than a Regal 2.4 and the LTZ Malibu has a 2.0T with more power, well then. So in short I like them both.

In a sense it is higher quality. Less energy, brighter, and last far longer. They also come on quicker which alerts you to a stopping vehicle in front of you quicker.

GREAT color combo on that unit and the price/mileage combo just cannot be beat... distance and logistics are a bit of an issue. Not practical to drive the 2600 miles from Philly to Alberta There is good news, however. I've gotten a nibble on a WTB ad I posted in the Calgary classifieds for a 1994 Brougham with Prestwick Cloth seats (not so common an option in the USA but most Canadian cars have them I've found). 120k miles, but I don't know what color it is or what condition it is- or even what the guy wants for it. Just left a message with more questions and hopefully I can check it out this week.

The NVH reduced by lighter connecting rods is likely negated by the composite intake. NVH was why the series III 3800 switched back to an alloy intake, isn't it. Durability was also a factor IIRC. The composite intake on the 3800 SII was prone to cracking.

Lucerne is dead, along with the HV V6 at the end of this model year, along with the HV V6 in the Impala.

It's really an awesome ride... but you've got to swap out the "ram" with the logo in your avatar.

2014 Chevrolet Impala -- Another Car GM should Build
vonVeezelsnider replied to dwightlooi's topic in Chevrolet
It's the clock-clock-clock from the Direct Injection system. At higher speed it becomes a Gggggrrrrrr. I am not sure if it's the injectors themselves or the high pressure fuel rails and accumulators vibrating from the closure pulses from the injectors. Eitherway it is decidedly coarse... the 3.6 DI V6 I drove in a rented Camaro was noiser, coarser and less refined than the 2.4 liter 4-potter in the Malibu -- significantly so. yet in the Enclave, Acadia, and CTS, it's smooth... so clearly GM knows how to quell the sound. It's worse in colder weather too I've seen... -
Did they confirm 35 mpg? I read there was no official EPA estimate or rating yet. Only the legendary Sonata does 35 mpg. IIRC they said "better than 35 Highway"

My bet says yes...

If the woodgrain is that much better I might switch out the woodgrain in my car for the new stuff.

2014 Chevrolet Impala -- Another Car GM should Build
vonVeezelsnider replied to dwightlooi's topic in Chevrolet
IIRC they're working on a 3.0TT engine, maybe it'll get that. -
I can concur on this point as well... Quality-wise Cruze > Focus
-
I believe they offered a ragtop too (IIRC?)

I hear body shops have a hard time finding that set of parts these days and it's about $75 per body panel to buy from GM, so my thinking is based on the way the finish degrades it might almost be better to have them removed, re-vacuum plated by somebody professional and put back on the car.

April Update: I was hoping to be well into searching by now but I still can't consider out of province cars because the weather isn't cooperating. We just got a couple of feet of snow a couple days ago some more yesterday. Highways still not as good as I hoped. One has been posted in the last little while in-province but it was a 1993 with 60'000 miles that somebody wanted 10'000 dollars for. Still looking... I could kick myself though for not buying the 110k mile one that was for sale in town last summer, a triple blue (Dark Adriatic Blue) with the tow package and chrome wheels for only $5k. Hindsight is 20/20 I have picked up some more NOS parts... Including two sets of NOS Door/Ignition keys and one set of the Black GM Logo ones (all the keys have the same resistance and you can reprogram the Passkey module to accept a different resistance). Also picked up a 5.7L V8 badge for the trunk which I think is missing on the stock one. Got a new, never used 80s-style hood ornament alarm system which can be wired to the horn. It involves a large and more solid spring for the hood ornament unit that can't be cut easily by a would-be thief, probably won't even bother wiring it, the spring attachment is what's really worth it. Decided that I'm just going to go ahead and get myself as complete a set of NOS Ornamentation for the car as I refurbish it, and as of now there are only a few exterior trim bits that I need to find in new form. Two "Brougham" badges for the sail panels with the vinyl top mounting pegs, a trunk "Brougham" badge, and two of the "Fleetwood" badges to go in the front door rub strips. In addition a new trunk lock bezel gasket for the new trunk lock bezel. Have resisted going to the dealer to see if they have access to any of these parts as of yet as the cheaper find is clearly on eBay. Hopefully the Stainless Steel/Chrome will be in decent shape on whatever I get so it doesn't have to be refinished. Some pictures of what I've picked up

I would argue that only the Impala got six and therefore only the Impala should get six in the future. Caprice got 6 as well. So did the Biscayne and BelAir in '59 and '72. Celebrity and Lumina... the precursors to the Malibu also had 6 at times. For some reason I always forget the Caprice, I don't really think of the pathetic Lumina and Celebrity at all really lol...

Did A Chevrolet Volt Cause A Garage Fire?
vonVeezelsnider replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
You know, on the surface of it, I'd be looking more closely at the Suzuki Samurai that the owner made into a homebuilt EV as a cause before the Volt... -
What new 2011 vehicle do you wish you could own?
vonVeezelsnider replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
There are a few... Probably the LaCrosse CXS or a Volt are the number ones though.
