  1. I cannot stand the arrogance of Toyota (tangent) and I cannot stand the arrogance of Elon Musk. His arrogance and dismissive attitude toward long established automotive entities absolutely breaks any hope at a deal with me. It's not even the fact that electric cars don't excite me, it is one man's attitude that ruins it. There is a possibility, however remote, I could see myself in a Bolt... because it's humble right down to its brilliantly familiar and friendly name, and I am sure it will get the job done without self-aggrandizing, and it's a tall hatch, which is nothing if not practical and versatile.
  2. This thread has veered seriously off-topic. Who the hell cares about Tesla?
  3. Thanks for putting this up, Moltie. Last month's thread didn't get a lot of participation, so I was hesitant to put one up this month. Maybe December will be better.
  4. Nah Thed, I don't live in Florida. Yes dfelt, 60-ish dude wrecked it, he was at fault. I don't think it was hoonage, however.
  5. Don't know if this helps... we just fixed a 2016 Miata. Dude had 20 miles on it when he wrecked it on the way home from dealership.
  6. WANT ONE!!!
  7. I can say something congratulatory: GO TRANSIT!
  8. Model X is a foolish farce compared to this. This is for real earth people.
  9. That C-pillar is the only area that irks me a little bit. The concept used the derivative, ubiquitous triangular quarter glass that is on seemingly EVERY CUV out there, where the production version has the MINI (coupe)/Datsun "floating roof". Overall though, I think it's pretty handsome in a class of complete duds.
  10. Breaking news: Lincoln brings back the Continental coupe for 2018, seen here completely without camo. Also, this will be the first Lincoln with their latest "family face". Nice! (disclaimer: this is a JOKE. It's not real. I hope.)
  11. Very nice. Better than the concept version!
  12. It is only suggested to be a downgrade if a Ford is NOT EQUIPPED with it.
  13. DUDE THE PRODUCTION VERSION IS GORGEOUS! IT HAS BEEN SPIED IN FULL PRODUCTION TRIM AND IT IS BY FAR THE BEST LOOKING FULL ELECTRIC CAR BY FAR!!!
  14. I went and configured a Sport Touring like last week. These are nice.
  15. I happened to walk by the TV in our waiting area at work this morning and sawr an ad from Ford touting over $10k in savings on the F-150. I had to adjust the lump of aluminum foil on the rabbit ears to make sure I heard that right.
  16. But the metric you mentioned in your original post on this was: Also, you have me wanting to go over to Fuelly to see what kind of real-world MPG ppl are getting, say, in a 3.5 EB F-150 v. a 5.3 and 6.2 Chevy/GMC. If it was overall sample, then that would include N/A 3.5L/3.7L V-6's, the a fore mentioned 5.0L and 6.2L. That is why I went one step further and actually looked at specific engine pkg's. Understandable. My fault. When I went over there, I hit "browse vehicles", then I punched in the two trucks consecutively. That's when I realized it had to be more than anecdotal that a gamble on aluminum construction and turbocharged small displacement engines was not worth the investment.
  17. Darn it, here we go again. This is off-topic. I did say what metric I compared. It was overall model, F-150 v. Silverado 1500. And even with the vaunted aluminum bodywork and + or - 70% Ecoboost share... the Ford has not performed as advertised, with a BIG sample to evaluate.
  18. Thanks for the tip. I went over to Fuelly and looked at the overall average for the Ford F-150 and the overall average for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for the last several years, and although with the advent of Ecoboost the Ford has improved, it still is not as good as Chevrolet, a company that continues to rely on the excellent smallblock V8 for the vast majority of their pickups. And with the upgrade to the six-speed transmission across more trucks in 2014, Chevy's smallblock continues to defy Ford engineers' assertion that a turbocharged V6 is a better way to go in a pickup truck.
  19. A turbocharged 6 inherently produces fewer emissions than an n/a V8? Just a side question, I am genuinely interested in knowing the real answer. Also, you have me wanting to go over to Fuelly to see what kind of real-world MPG ppl are getting, say, in a 3.5 EB F-150 v. a 5.3 and 6.2 Chevy/GMC.
  20. ....and yet drew has no problem with blu's constant fight causing jabs at Ford. Wings, this post you quoted has some positive remarks about Ford and their vans. And you have to agree that dropping the Ranger and the reasoning they gave was off the mark. Plus I think it is a valid point I brought up about the new Ranger, without denegrating the F-series.
  21. Well I hope it's as good as you say. History is not on Ford's side if their previous attempts at turning a Taurus into a successful Continental are any indication. I would love to eat my words because I think a REAL, AMERICAN STYLE luxury car (in addition to the 300C) is sorely needed. I think Cadillac is trying too hard to be European in some areas. I am rooting for Lincoln to succeed, but each new opportunity is squandered with less than stellar product. So far I don't feel the magic is there in this new Continental, and if I am right, it may be time to say goodnight to another long cherished American automotive brand.
  22. Hmmm... and Renault is in bed with Datsun, and Chevy sells the Datsun NV200 here in the U.S. as the City Express... Which, BTW, I have seen like ZERO City Express vans around here on the road, and only very few NV200s... the Transit Connect RULES the tiny van market. We won't mention the ProMaster City...
  23. I believe the problem is, GM's fullsize van in Europe is a joint venture, they don't have their own design like FCA (horrible FWD POS) or Ford (Transit, much nicer) so they may not have the authority to commit to the fullsize van market here with their European fullsize vans. I hope they don't hand the market over completely to Ford here in the U.S. On the other hand, Ford is caught with their pants down here in the U.S. in midsize trucks. When they dropped the Ranger, they had the audacity to state that the FIESTA would take over as the vehicle of choice for Ranger customers... they held the completely erroneous notion that Ranger customers were more interested in a CHEAP VEHICLE than an actual small pickup truck... everyone can see how that panned out. Fiesta sales aren't exactly taking up the slack... and I don't see any aftermarket Fiesta Ranchero conversions yet. Another point: how will Ford market their Aussie Ranger here with a tried-and-true steel body, next to their aluminum F-series? They would sound like hypocrites.
