  1. I think it's clear Rj wants a more powerful and fun GM compact to replace his lively 2.4L ION. I see nothing wrong with that, per se. If he has driven the 1.4t Cruze and is dissatisfied, that is his right to communicate his displeasure. And he doesn't come in that often. I'd like to hear more Solstice stories while he waits for GM to wake the Cruze from its slumber (as long as they don't involve a guard rail). I myself feel that GM is repeating past mistakes with the Cruze, with no meaningful updates since launch, it is in danger of losing relevance in a very fast-moving compact market class. People are still buying Civics and Corollas. There is no Cruze coupe (yes, it's one of my broken records), no style updates... no hatch or wagon to stand out in the market. The diesel variant is most welcome, but this car could, and should, be so much more... it could be a modern Chevelle, in a way, with a host of variants under the Cruze nameplate. Instead, here in America, all we get is a sedan. Blah.

    thanks sir
  3. Electronic traction control on a 1974 Buick?????
  4. Some hibernate, some sit on ice floes. It is February, a chilly one this year (in these parts, at least). If you can "bear" it, let's get out there and spot some vehicular modes of transportation... right here!
  5. It has been a joy to watch the long history of China-Japan tension manifest itself in the automotive game. One can only hope it continues and deepens.
  6. I am not quite sure how a Kia Rio got photobombed into a thread about a future Cruze facelift. So help me..............I don't get it.
  7. Well I voiced my disappointment when it was revealed the new conventional automatic was not going to be available in the "Trail Rated" Patriot... then I remembered that the Patriot has no transfer case, that the "off road" mode is simply a component of the CVT and software to enhance traction. Every mention of a future Fiat-based Jeep by Chrysler executives includes the phrase "true Jeep" or "Jeep DNA". They fiercely defend the brand with their words, but the proof will be in the pudding. I am not saying that Fiat and their Iveco subsidiary cannot build a rugged off-road vehicle, but is it a JEEP? I am harboring some initial excitement for this new Cherokee. If it comes across as phony after a thorough introduction, then all bets are off.
  8. Well yes, Onstar comes with a fee, but how much does a nav system add to the price of a given car, it has a cost somewhere. Anyway, I don't care about Onstar or nav systems. I admit I have never used turn-by-turn in any of my GM vehicles. I am content without a smartphone, without any sort of nav system. Except for an in-car compass. I love those and find them extremely useful for the kind of driving I do. It's a small, important feature lacking in my Patriot, and it mystifies me why a Jeep ® brand vehicle wouldn't have one. It seems a natural to me. If nav is going to be a permanent part of new vehicles going forward, I'd rather it be something simple like the smartphone interface through the radio screen some of you are describing. That way when I don't use it I don't feel like I spent money for nothing.
  9. More and more, it's in the nicer cars though, whether we want it or not. I am proud of GM for being late to the game. Turn-By-Turn through Onstar is a fine way to integrate nav help in a vehicle, but "competitive pressures" forced them to start polluting their dashes with these crappy systems.
  10. COOL! Frank N. Furter!
  11. The Cherokee Nation ain't what she used to be, but she's still going on. Open mind here, trying. I am intrigued by the latest spy shots. Just the name will be enough for a lot of folks, I think. Current Grand is too expensive for off-road thrashing. The only rough-and-ready Jeep left is the Wrangler, even now. The outgoing Liberty had to be modified to be any kind of serious off-roader, with seriously restricted freedom in tire size choice without a lift, IFS, etc.
  12. I have concerns about the American brands in the equation.
  13. not an issue. sounds like simplification.
  14. ...and the much-deserved descent into hell continues...
  15. Perhaps it was a misguided attempt at political correctness.
  16. So reginald, you're thinking the name of the car is holding down the Forte?
  17. 50 Cent
  18. SHOOT, I forgot about the Rio... you know, I've always liked the European looks of the current Rio, and with Kia's warranty and the nice features... maybe I should look at one. With a manual transmission and mostly highway commute, I would hopefully beat the tested fuel mileage average. Off to Build&Price! EDIT: nevermind. They suck. No manual transmission available on the nicer trims. So thankful Sonic and Fiesta are available with a fun, manual transmission in LTZ and Titanium trims.
  19. OMG we've found your new car! How perfect is that?
  20. alrighty When I posted an interest in looking at '14 Fiestas on Facebook, my bro chimes in and says "CHEVY SPARK!"
  21. Well I wonder how much the Tesla's range varies with weather conditions. Unless it is a miracle Power Wheels that is impervious to summer heat and winter cold. I'll never trust an electric.
  22. I'll leave the poling of women to you, Mr. dfelt.
