Kia to rival Audi TT with 2009 model
An Audi wannabe from Kia..hilarious. Kia has a reputation for cheap, disposable cars..kind of the Geo of this era...that's a pretty big leap to Audi..

Same drivetrain as the Aura, I assume? I wonder how they will differentiate this car from the Aura...

The dryness takes some getting used to..I have to use humidifiers at home...I'm more prone to nosebleeds here than when I lived in the Midwest...I love the sunshine. A friend of mine moved back to the NW (Portland) a couple of years because he & his wife found it too sunny and dry here. As far as cultural amenities, there is enough for my interests...plenty of live music (both local and national bands) and movie theatres.and the art museum has a new wing. Though it's definitely not a San Francisco or LA as far as the arts, etc. Lots of food choices in Denver, Boulder and the burbs, plenty enough to keep a foodie like myself happy..

Announced: Lexus LX570
So it's mileage will be competitive with the Escalade, it sounds like?

The Lucky Spotter's Thread
I saw a really clean yellow Mustang coupe in my sister's neighborhood in Phoenix when I was out walking the dogs Sunday..it was a 6cyl (4 lug wheels) and was missing the grille trim and had no backup lights, which makes me think it was an early '65 (aka '64 1/2 in some circles)... Saw a very clean '71 Caprice coupe, white w/ black vinyl top...not a lowrider either, but granny style with whitewalls and stock hubcaps. I've seen 3 Bentley Continental GTs since the weekend also...a black one in Phoenix, a silver and a blue one near my office yesterday... saw a silver Bentley Flying Spur sedan in Phoenix also...

LeSabre& Century
As far as vintage Buick names, my favorites are probably Electra, Invicta, Riviera. I couldn't see Skylark or Skyhawk working today, or Roadmaster..they sound old, IMHO.

I haven't had the experience of living in the NW or Minn., but I've found people here in Denver very laid-back and welcoming... I think it has a lot to do with the fact that so few people here were born here, most of the Coloradans in my demographic (30 something computer professionals) are transplants from the Midwest like myself, or from the East Coast, West Coast, or the Canadian plains (lots of Western Canadians here).

F**king Winter!
My brother bought a new '84 S-10 in silver... it was a pretty good little truck, very reliable..but after 15 Ohio winters, it had to have some bodywork..some rust on the cab corners, rear fender wells, etc.. similiarly, the salty Ohio/Michigan/Illinois winters did a number on my '88 Bronco II...I'm glad Colorado doesn't use salt on their roads.

Decision coming on $100K+ Caddy
I'd rather see Cadillac have a good $65-80k competitor for the LS.

F**king Winter!
I've lived there in the summer before..I can tolerate it...as long as I have good A/C at home, in the car, and at the office, and a pool, I can deal with it...much better than 98 degrees w/ 98 percent humidity like I dealt with in S. Florida and the Midwest, IMHO. I've thought of moving to Phoenix many times..I know the area very well, have family that I'm close to there, my company has people there, and after the last 3 months, I'm sick of winter, even Colorado winters (snow every week since Dec, and a few nights below zero)..and it would get me that much closer to California...

Why are you still an auto enthusiast?
I've been a general car nut since childhood with my Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Tomica, Corgi, etc. I still love Mustangs, which I've been around since childhood w/ my folks' '69 and my older brother always had 2-3 '60s and '80s Mustangs at a time. I've owned 2 Mustangs, will likely own more... I've read car magazines from childhood-I've had subscriptions to Road & Track and Car & Driver since age 7..and built model kits since then... My tastes in cars have expanded and changed (I love modern BMWs and Jeeps now), I'll still be fond of American iron from about 1965-1975...pony cars, muscle cars, land yachts of that era.

Hyundai to create its own luxury marque?
I wouldn't pay more than 25k for a Hyundai..they just still have a cheap image in my mind..over 30k and Asian, I'd go for an Infiniti or Acura...

Morbid curiousity: Which would you choose?
I'd go with the Maxima, esp. an SE w/ a manual. I've driven a friend's '02 several times and find it quite nice...I've had an '05 GP as a rental and wasn't impressed...

Just when you though EMO couldn't get any worse....
'Assfactor 4' is quite the band name...some kids I knew in high school had a hair metal band called 'Defecator'...great name. When I was in high school, some kids were into goth and industrial, and of course hair metal and punk...the Dead Kennedys had plenty of fans, as did hair bands like Motley Crue, Warrant, Ratt, Poison. I was more into post-punk..Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order, U2, Echo & The Bunnymen, Peter Gabriel.. some hard rock--AC/DC, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Guns and Roses-- and classic rock and blues, which I still love--The Who, Eric Clapton (saw him Sunday night in Phoenix w/ Robert Cray, great show), Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, etc.

Just when you though EMO couldn't get any worse....
Sorta related, sorta not..I feel old..I did a google on 'screamo' and found a Wikipedia entry on 'screamo' bands.. I've never heard of any of them.. Screamo article on Wikipedia

Heh-heh..the Canadian programmers I work with all are still doing PowerBuilder... they all went to the U. of Regina (except for one guy that went to McGill).

People say strange things
I have conversations like that with my mom on the phone all the time.. Mom: How's your work? Me: Work is busy..I just started a new project... Mom: The weather is so awful here...snow and cold.. Me: The weather has been snowy here.. Mom: This Anna Nicole news is so sad.. random context switching for about 20 min. twice a week...

Relaxation techniques....
Hmmm...is fart a noun or verb here? It feels like it's missing the verb... 'I really, really make a long hard fart' sounds better.. Flattus emission can be relaxing, though. It does relieve pressure..

Relaxation techniques....
This works for me...I like taking drives into the mountains..maybe 50-150 miles west from Denver... stroll along the main street of small towns..very relaxing..great Spring thru Fall.. I like doing this a lot also...in driving distance from home, I like going to central & Western Slope Colorado towns, places like Salida, Gunnison, Ouray, Silverton away from the resorts for some R&R. Or northern New Mexico. If I fly away, I like going to Northern Arizona, Sonoma County, Ca, or my old stomping grounds of Western PA/Eastern Ohio (great for fall colors).

Sweden plan would monitor e-mail
I'm sure the Homeland Security guys already monitor all of our email or are trying to...this is the kind of thing I could see the Republicans loving..

Small Government-Issued Tracking Chips
I'm against it, but I'm sure the Republicans would love something like this..the uses for it are endless.

Relaxation techniques....
To unwind, I like: A 1/2 hr swimming in the pool. A 1/2 hr or so in the jacuzzi. An hr or two relaxing on the sofa with a glass of wine or two, listening to some of my favorite CDs (lots of guitar puts me in a great mood--vintage Clapton, Pink Floyd, U2, etc) A good night's sleep (though I need sleeping pills to get it)

Cell phone use while driving - yikes
Yes, I used to do that all the time back when I had cars with single disc players..now that I have a 6 disk in dash and the iPod, it's something I don't need to do while driving...

Spring Ahead!
No time change here in sunny Phoenix...but I'll have to deal with it tommorow when I go home to Denver..will be nice having more daylight in the afternoons, but I'm not looking forward to more morning darkness...
