  1. Greece is on my to-do list..haven't been there yet. I've been to Italy twice, in 2003 and 2004. I loved Rome, Florence and Venice--what a unique place..I was only there for a day, want to go back and stay longer. Didn't go into Naples, went around it (drove from Rome to Pompeii to Sorrento, down the Amalfi Coast (loved it) to Salerno and then back to Rome. I want to go back to the Amalfi coast, spend more time in Positano and go to Capri. As far as northern Italy, I liked Milan for a big city, but my favorite places were probably the lakes--Como and Maggiore..beautiful with the Alps close by...I took a few boat rides around Lake Como and Lake Maggiore..I really liked the town of Stressa on Lake Maggiore. I want to back and explore more in the Alps as well as Tuscany.
  2. Sweet. 445 lbs sounds pretty light for a DOHC V8. Should be a cool powerplant.. I wonder what a used '08 M3 will go for in '10.
  3. I'm not that familiar with current Saabs, but I liked the old pre-GM 900 (turbo, convertible, etc) and 9000 back in the '80s-90s..they had a certain quirkiness and intellectual cool about them (I always associated them with lefty academicians, which was part of their demographic, I believe). I had a fair bit of seat time in my sister's 900 Turbo that she had in Boston in the '90s and it was a pretty sweet drive (though not as fun as the 300ZX Turbo she had before the Saab).
  4. A deal with Proton would give GM more plant capacity and market share in Asia (and potentially eliminate/absorb a Chevywoo competitor in Europe).
  5. Ahh, yeah..forgot about the 4.3.
  6. I can relate... I left Michigan at 25...I left grad school at the U of M and moved to Chicago then on to Colorado. That was 1997. The Michigan job market in my field (software engineering) looked weak then, I can only assume it is worse now.
  7. Most people don't care about the long term consequences of global warming..they are content to live for today and let their children or grandchildren 20-50 years down the road deal with a ruined, uninhabitable world... 'fu*k the future'.
  8. Hey..that sounds like an idea the deranged guy from the UK would have come up with...I don't recall his handle (Andy?), but he was on here a couple of years ago with outrageous ideas like a 4-cyl Corvette...
  9. Looks good...I like the two-toning...on a light colour like silver, the darker bottom trim reduces the vertical thickness, makes it look less tall. It's nice to see a crossover with some side sculpturing, so many of them are too slab-sided.
  10. Maybe a different decklid, taillights, and bumper. Whoopie.
  11. Yes..I didn't realize the Freestar was still in production..
  12. Probably. In modern times, I'd say Ford's 4.0L.
  13. Hmmm....I'm going to be on vacation that week..may have to take my laptop (wasn't planning to).
  14. Where's the Suburban SS, Express SS, and Kodiak SS? I'm looking forward to those debuts!
  15. Interesting..seems like they would be a pretty hard car to flip, as wide as they are.
  16. I have that brochure somewhere stashed away..that is the ad spread that got me excited about Dodge Challengers when I was a kid in the late '70s..I remember the '71 T/A pic showing a yellow car w/ black top and raindrops on it, IIRC.. the R/T was shown in purple in a 'Vanishing Point' like desert scene..
  17. We had green bagels at work yesterday... I had a couple of pints of Harps at the pub last night.. I'm 1/4 Irish, so I should celebrate it.. Watched a U2 video last night and have listened to U2 and Van Morrison all day..
  18. I could see older cars using 15 inch wheels..my '87 Mustang GT has 15s.. 15 inch wheels look great on '60s muscle cars, IMHO.
  19. True..lots of people do dumb things that make no rational financial sense..there are people that RENT wheels, after all.
  20. I like the V10s..they look like the wheels on the Charger and Magnum R/T.
  21. Sounds like quite the bargain...a 2000 C5 for under $20k? Wow..
  22. COlroado has a law about using the far left lane for passing only on freeways outside of the metro areas, aimed at the 'left lane bandits'. One exception to the slower-than-speedlimit rule I follow is in bad weather..I will slow down well below 55 if the roads are snowy and icy and with poor visibility. Though I drive an SUV, I'm not one of those reckless $h!bags that blast along in the left lane at 70 mph in snow and ice then roll over in the median...
  23. I'm going to Maui the first week of April... after the snow and nastiness of the last 3 months, I need some sun and sand again (was in Honolulu in Dec).
  24. Interesting.. I wonder if part of the problem is not air bags, but the proliferation of FWD cars with very little crush space between the front wheelwell and driver. It seems many FWD cars have very little space between the wheelwell and interior (bad design, IMHO).
  25. Heh-heh..she does seem like fun..though my favorite songstress is Tori Amos..been a huge fan since the mid '90s..the voice, the looks, the piano/organ skills...
