  1. Went for custard again tonight and saw a red '60 Chevy Impala convertible, a black '63 Bonneville convertible, and a white first gen Chevy II sedan delivery (cut and shut from a wagon) out enjoying a beautiful Ohio summer evening.. also saw a black '68 Chevelle ht, a dark blue w/ white stripe '68 Chevelle convertible, a silver blue '66 Mustang coupe, and a silver blue '69 Impala ht.
  2. Saw an article recently about how bad headlights are in general in vehicles nowdays, esp the standard lighting.
  3. On a nearby street being resurfaced, saw a strange street sweeper truck..had a Frieghtliner cab with two steering wheels! The driver was sitting on the passenger side. I guess having dual drive setups makes sense so the driver can sit on the curbside to watch curbs when sweeping.. A bit o' googling turned up pics of one..wild.
  4. Yeah, some of the more distant ones are. I know I have ancestors in the US going back to colonial days.
  5. She had the same thought about the 'killer gene'. And the interesting thing is there are close relatives in our Mom's family with schizophrenia and other mental illness issues. It makes for interesting research. I am related to William Shatner, by the way.
  6. Yes, but quite tastefully used. I love the 80s styling.
  7. I'd have to check my sister's notes, but all these guys are/were 3rd - 12th cousins, IIRC. Ted Bundy Gary Ridgeway (Green River Killer) Dennis Rader (BTK Killer) John Wayne Gacy Jeffrey Dahmer Henry Lee Lucas
  8. It is interesting to look into that.. my sister goes on genealogy kicks occasionally and has traced our family lineage back a long way...mostly English, but some French (Alsace) and Swiss, Scottish and Ulster Scots. A related activity is finding what famous or infamous people one is related to. I'm distantly related to multiple past and modern era presidents, entertainers, and strangest of all--some of the most notorious serial killers (all through my Mom's family).
  9. I don't know much about Tacoma, but I would like to visit the LeMay Car Museum.
  10. Though I know firsthand how old Mercedes can be money pits, I'd really love to have a mid 80s 500SEC or 500SEC AMG...love the hardtop styling.
  11. And the Encore GX also, wasn't clear if the US was getting both?
  12. Enclave is a sharp looking CUV...like this red.
  13. Do you have any comprehension of geography? It’s over 2000 miles. I wasn’t going to buy something in Ohio, ship or drive it to Az then drive it back to Ohio.. .I hadn’t sold the house in Az yet, had to move the dogs to Ohio and needed a new vehicle..my old Jeep had 170k and I didn’t trust it for the long drive that was looming in my future....I had had it 17 years, got my money’s worth. (I had bought it new, by the way.) No point trying to explain anything to you, you can’t understand. Different reality context..I had a unique situation...it works for me...
  14. And I didn’t downvote you because you said Quebec cars rust, but for your shitty attitude and the inaccurate assumptions you make. And your long, rambling incoherent posts.
  15. Yes, I bought a California car because I was living in Arizona. Arizona dealers get a lot of California vehicles. I needed it to drive cross country to my house in Ohio. Wouldn’t have made sense to buy it in Ohio...
  16. @oldshurst442 as an aside, do you ever have short, condensed responses? Too long and rambling. Anyway, yes life is hard in Canada and you have shitty winters and everything rusts. We understand that. You are just whining at this point. There was nothing smug or arrogant about my post; just stating facts. CPOs can be a good deal. Maybe Canadian car dealers don’t have CPO programs? I don’t know. I’m presenting facts as I know them in my reality context.
  17. I had an Uber X driver w a very clean 9-3 wagon recently. Neat looking cars.
  18. By buying a 3 yr old CPO from California w/ 25k miles I got a rust free pretty much spotless like new Jeep that had only trivial differences from a new one, at about $15k off the new price. New car smell isn’t worth that much for me. ( I have a very poor sense of smell anyway)
  19. Ah, good point... many do seem to be CJRD dealers nowadays (that's all I've seen in NE Ohio and the Phoenix area)...so they probably they don't need a Dodge version. Maybe Voyager is the strategy to replace the current Caravan... Dodge if it's around in 5 years will probably just be the Charger and Challenger, since the Durango will probably be replaced by the 3 row Jeep.
  20. The way I look at it, under $30k-40k, most anything new is a 4cyl FWD generic--just boring gray interior point A to point B transport..disposable appliances. I'd rather have something more substantial, comfortable, and nicer equipped for a daily driver, and don't want to spend $40-50k on a new vehicle. I'm not trying to impress anyone, I got what I wanted. I don't care what anyone else thinks, I like Jeeps. Grand Cherokees specifically. I wanted an American midsize 2 row RWD/AWD SUV, since I don't do FWD/AWD transverse engine CUVs. Not many choices. Had a good experience w/ my previous one, having a good experience w/ my CPO. Vintage stuff is nice to look at at a car show, but not something I want to spend time dealing with, and since I don't have extra garage space, vintage is out of the question.
  21. My next door neighbors have an older F150, and a Sienna and an Odyssey, both around 10 years old..now that their kids are both driving (one in high school w/ an FR-S, one in college w/ a Compass), I assume they will get something else eventually. Speaking of minivans, I wonder if they will eventually drop the Caravan or rebadge the Voyager for Dodge dealers. It's still selling...
  22. Well, it's not my truth, so I really couldn't care less what you think. I'd rather buy a used clean luxury car or SUV than a new 4cyl FWD shitbox w/ a CVT and despair gray interior.
  23. Bullshit..it's a bad investment to buy new, a depreciated 3 yr old vehicle with 25k is a much better purchase. I don't buy your Quebec argument either--are people too lazy there to keep their cars clean? We got a lot of salt and bad weather here in Cleveland also, yes cars are worn out here after 10 years also if you don't take care of them...but you can have a daily driver look great here if you keep it washed and get the salt off.
  24. Went out for taco Tuesday and custard...saw a variety of interesting cars---a very clean red C4 convertible, a sharp silver '67 Corvette coupe, a primered '63 Ford Galaxie boxtop w/ a healthy rumble, a bright yellow slammed '68-72 C10 longbed, an orange Hellcat Challenger, and a white wide body Hellcat Challenger.. Oddest sight was a black Audi Q7 sitting up on 4 jack stands in a driveway of a modest house...looked like the guy was doing a brake job. Also saw a sharp red '59 Edsel convertible, rolling in traffic, top down. Saw a house with a pale yellow '65 Mustang coupe in the garage and a blue w/ white top Lincoln Mark III in the driveway being polished.
  25. That is sweet...love the central courtyard.
