  1. Maybe they should adopt a more aerodynamic design instead of the blocky bloated look...
  2. It's a bit more than 'difference of opinion'...the Kochs and other climate change denying right wing filth represent an existential threat to all of humanity. They are anti-future and anti-American.
  3. Was at a bar at the top of the Hilton downtown after the symphony last night, came out and there was a brown Escalade and a black CT6 parked nose-to-tail. Alas, my Uber X driver's car was less impressive (Mitsubishi Outlander...previous drivers yesterday had a Dodge Journey and the crazy Asian guy had a previous gen Toyota Highlander---driving 60-65 mph weaving in and out of traffic on a 45mph limit boulevard..) . Took a few pics out of the windows of the bar--too cold to go out on the deck. Will have to go back in warmer weather..
  4. Anecdotally, I know my local independent repair shop ordered an alternator for my sister's Cadillac from Amazon when it was in the shop a couple months ago, they said it was cheaper and faster than sourcing it other ways.
  5. It's really too bad they didn't go the path Ford seems to be going w/ the new Bronco for the Blazer...
  6. Crazy pricing. A base Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 is $32.9k. V6 standard.
  7. Of course he's a flight risk...I'm surprised Renault didn't send a corporate jet to remove him. Corrupt sleazeball. Probably has cash stashed in the many cities around the world where he has apartments..
  8. Gray cold afternoon out...spotted a dirty red C7 Corvette coupe w/ the personalized plate 'IIIIIII' (7 'I's)
  9. I got weird results from those...Louisville, Ky, Charleston, SC and Memphis. Which is very odd, as I don't have a Southern accent. My parents were from Kentucky, my brother was born in Louisville. I really don't have an Upper Ohio Valley accent (I don't say warsh) or a Cleveland accent (I don't say 'ruff' for 'roof') either. Lived in NE Ohio, S Florida, SE Michigan, Colorado and Arizona. But I do say ‘soda’ and pronounce Aunt as ‘ant’...probably got that from my folks. Funny thing is, I've had coworkers when I lived in Colorado ask if I was from California because of my accent/lack of accent. (and my tendency to refer to freeways w/ 'the' like 'The 480').
  10. Funny that they are saying how hard it for them to do an EV, considering their corporate siblings Audi and Porsche are just about there. Just take the eTron GT or Taycan, put on some squared bodywork, mesh grille, quilted seats and lots of wood, and instant Bentley EV. Seems inefficient that each brand within VWAG would be developing their own EV technology and platforms, seems like the dirty bits would be shared across the brands, as they do now with ICE platforms and powertrains.
  11. Not particularly a fan of unions, but I loathe management scum, tend to side w/ workers than the MBA shit-for-brains running things. I prefer being an hourly independent consultant/hired gun.
  12. There wasn't a link, but I found this test, an old article from the NYT. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/upshot/dialect-quiz-map.html?_r=1
  13. Non-union plants? I don't know how much of a labor cost difference there is, but there must be some difference.
  14. Good to see workers fight back..don't know if it will be effective or not. GM (and other manufacturers) would move all production to 3rd world cheap labor locations if they could get away with it, they have no interest in local manufacturing, they just want to churn out product as fast and cheaply as possible. They couldn't care less about the workers; only the profits for the shareholders and bonuses for incompetent, corrupt executives.
  15. Those stairs would kill me.. even having 6-8 steps at most w/ a split level (4 distinct levels, 4 sets of stairs) is killing me now..
  16. Heh-heh... I'm glad I'm not still in the IT sweat shop Wells Fargo was in Chandler, AZ 10 years ago when I was there. On a team of 25 people, one died of a heart attack at age 35 and 2 others (45 and 58) had heart attacks in a 6 month stretch. The last two had their laptops in the hospital so they could keep working while ill (though they were off their usual 65hr a week output). 3 years there was enough for me.
  17. Only worked w/ one French Canadian. He was interesting...introduced me to poutine. I worked with quite a few Canadians from Regina, Saskatchewan in Denver...great bunch...they were a work hard, party hard crew... Took some time to get used to JAAA-va instead of 'JAH-va' and Zed instead of Z... along w/ Western Pizza, Kokanee beer, Canadian Mist, etc...
  18. Yeah, they have enough small crossovers already...
  19. Isn't that the formula for the CH-R now? And there is the Corolla hatchback now also.
  20. Interesting...would look good in a log cabin or lodge..
  21. Interesting..thought I read it was torn down...
  22. That's pretty cool...
  23. Alfa, Maserati and Fiat are dead brands walking, can't see a point in investing further in them, though they probably will. As far as a GM I6, I don't see it happening. They have the DOHC V6s which works fine for RWD and FWD applications. The Atlas died with the old GM--the plant that built it and the plant that built the GMT-360 long closed/demolished, the tooling probably long scrapped or landfilled. Part of the legacy of that decade of failure for GM. I don't expect major new ICE engine families from GM in the future, as Mary Barra has stated GM's future is EVs and AVs..
  24. I assume GM killed the Altas 6 because they killed the GMT-360 platform. No midsize RWD SUVs, no straight 6. They couldn't have used it in the FWD/transverse CUVs and cars they've built over the last decade. V6s made sense as they can be used in RWD and FWD transverse engine platforms. As for the next Camaro, I assume it will be on whatever the CT4 (ATS replacement) is on...
  25. A good concealment for me recently occurred. In the front row at the symphony last Saturday night, trapped gas was released during the standing ovation at the end of the performance. Like Mr AHWNN, I enjoy partaking in spicy food, especially Asian curries. I have to temper my enjoyment of such food with the real possibity of violent magma flows from my rear end—the heat of a 1000 suns burning my sphincter and delicate tissues, sometimes accompanied by violent nausea. Copious use of Imodium and Pepto Bismol helps prevent such toxic eruptions. Perhaps the most powerful emission I had was once whilst walking in London, standing at a viewpoint overlooking the river, hours and hours of trapped flatulence (after the 10 1/2 hr flight from Phoenix, train trip into the city, etc.). There were a couple of people standing a foot or so behind me before, after I turned and they had moved probably 12-15 feet behind me. I didn’t intentionally cut loose then, but it happened.
