  1. Nasty weather driving forces drivers to focus on driving, which is a distraction from playing on their phone like some are used to....driverless cars are needed for such useless drivers that shouldn't be on the road, IMO... I saw the 'moved from dry states' phenomenon when I lived in Colorado..so many people moved in the late 90s-early 00s from Texas and So Cal, had no clue how to drive in inclement weather. Having grown up driving in NE Ohio, I found Colorado's winter driving easier, since there usually wasn't ice but dry powder.
  2. That reminds me of the ice storm I got in on the belt line around Portland in 2005. I was visiting friends in Beaverton (hilly suburb on westside of Portland), staying at a hotel on the east side of Portland by the airport. Rather than drive over the hills of the city and back to the hotel, I thought it would be easier/safer in inclement weather to take the belt line freeway that looped around the south side of the city. Wrong. It took me 7 hours to drive the roughly 25 miles back to my hotel. Traffic was moving at under 10 mph most of the time, everything coated in ice w/ freezing rain coming down. White-knuckle low speed driving. The white FWD Grand Prix rental I had did well, never skidded.
  3. 4 cyl hybrids are for compact economy cars or midsize family sedans, out of place in a large luxury car.
  4. Meh, a turbo 4 in a big car like that isn't very compelling. And 340hp according to Wikipedia, not 449hp. The twin turbo V8 that is coming is going to be the hot ticket for CT6...
  5. Well, that was what the prototype was a few years ago...that would make sense also..depends on how much they want to invest. It could probably be on the same wheelbase as the 4dr. Something like this but with the new generation interior and front..
  6. Been freezing rain and sleet here all day... only went out to roll out then roll back in the trash and recycle bins. Days like this are when I really like working from home.
  7. I'll probably get an oil change and put on new wiper blades before the end of the year. I have an FCA recall letter I need to take care of also.
  8. Yeah, I just don't want to deal w/ old vehicle shit anymore. When I get to 100k I'll go for another CPO GC or other...
  9. Ya, 100k miles is my goal. Just got to 40k miles...took me 18 months to get there from 25k miles. I don't plan to go for 170k/17 years like I did w/ my old Jeep--the newer one is way more complex w/ the electronics, so it may be worse over 100k than the old one was.
  10. Given that I work from home and drive very little every week (sometimes a 200 mile road trip on the weekends), an EV could work for me. But not anytime soon...
  11. Just noticed the update to this thread and noticed the OP hasn't posted in a couple years..what happened w/ SAmedei?
  12. I think they will need a different brand name for the US...'Zotye'? Reminds me of the musician Gotye. This is the SUV equivalent of those cheap Chinese TV brands you see in Wal-Mart and other places for much less than the major TV brands..
  13. I doubt if they will do a regular cab, would sell maybe 5% of what a 4dr will....they have their priorities right..they know what will sell to Jeep customers. This is more of a novelty pickup--think of it as a Wrangler Unlimited with more cargo space. For a general purpose mid size pickup, that would be from Ram.
  14. I like that movie a lot also...a good Big 80s flick..saw 'No Way Out' again recently, hadn't seen it in probably 20 years..another good one.
  15. Was up at 4:30 am to do an airport run this morning. In the departures lane at the airport, saw a pointy black CTS-v wagon...those were so cool. Saw a 1st gen Olds Aurora on the freeway when heading home.
  16. An Eliminator w/ the Hellcat.
  17. Same price range as a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. The off road upgrades gets premium priced.
  18. The Jeep pickup seems almost as mythical as the mid-engined Corvette...talked about for years, rumored, prototypes sighted, but still nothing in production..
  19. Cool.. Ford really should offer the Ranger Raptor here, would be competition...and you know Jeep will have a Rubicon version of the Gladiator.
  20. Way cool...like the flying shots.
  21. Here's a radical idea..maybe some of the automakers with 4 dr coupes will do 2dr versions of them! That would be a game changer, like an Audi A7 2dr coupe or Mercedes CLS 2dr...
  22. Good question...I haven't heard anything concrete about future FCA products beyond MY 2019. From what I've read on Jeep forums, for instance, the next Grand Cherokee (WL) has been delayed until 2021. Maybe the next gen of Charger has been delayed also. Seems like 2020 will probably just be a carryover since 2019 is here already...
  23. Speaking of 2WD motorcycles, I remember reading about one a long time ago called the Rokon Ranger or similar...really rugged for off road...one Car & Driver article claimed it could climb trees...
  24. How many miles you have now? My old Jeep started really feeling it's age above 150k miles. The power windows and locks would randomly work, the airbag light would come on when I turned left, power mirrors quit..
  25. Speaking of 'off' settings on switches, one thing annoying w/ my Jeep is the radio has no on/off button. You can turn the volume all the way down to effectively mute it, but there is no off.
