Cadillac News: Cadillac ELR Pricing Set at $75,995
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
The dealers will probably tack on an extra $10k in 'market adjustment', so yes, it probably won't sell for MSRP... -
Didn't the GC get it back in '11 when it was redesigned? '14 was a mild MCE..

No, a 5 w/ ios7.. R

My work iPhone has been fine since updating w/ ios7..never seen a blue screen on an iPhone, thought that was a Windows exclusive.. My Mac Book Pro has been crashy w/ the 'Gray Screen of Death' lately, but I've traced that to firewall settings changes from using sshuttle to do VPN tunneling when at client sites. The bigger annoyance lately is Chrome on the Mac, which routinely locks up and prevents any mouse or keyboard inputs...so I've quit using Chrome and sticking w/ Safari and Firefox.

Industry News: Aston Martin Cans The Cygnet
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
I'm surprised Rolls hasn't done a city car based on the Mini yet... Hmmm....maybe one way Fiat can get more volume in the US is to do a restyled 500 badged as the Chrysler 50..- 7 replies

Biggest one day stock drop due to auto Fire in Seattle Suburb
Robert Hall replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
The parking garage of one my company's clients put in 4 chargers back in June, they expanded to 8 a couple weeks ago because of demand...I've seen a mix of Volts (incl. a colleague's), a Leaf, a Tesla roadster and a couple of Tesla Ses using them... my colleague gets to work around 7:30, plugs in, then at lunch goes out and disconnects.. (though I've read that the charger provider is in trouble (Blink Network). -

Hardly...the Tesla owners I know tend to be successful, well educated tech industry people...not weird. -
Cadillac News: 2015 Cadillac Escalade Live Reveal
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
In San Diego a few weeks ago I saw several diesel GLs being used to tow race car trailers. Some people had the monster crew cab duallie pickups, but many had SUVs. The most eclectic tow vehicle I saw was a 5dr '55 Suburban (4 doors on the right, 1 on the left). -

Yes, and for real-world use, 250 miles is plenty enough to go between charges. -
Cadillac News: 2015 Cadillac Escalade Live Reveal
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
MB does make a full size SUV, the GL is full size and the #1 selling full size luxury SUV. I see GMC Terrain in the front and sides with all those straight lines. Gl might have out sold the Escalade by just 2500 units, but it cannot pull a trailer like the Escalade and does not have as much interior space. Plus the maintenance cost on the MB compared to the Cadillac SUV is huge and I would go with Escalade which has a better reliability record. MB might have cutting edge tech, but the cost of keeping it functional is way higher. Course in this group, most have the disposable cash to pay when things break. M-B buyers also often lease so they are in and out in 3 years or so..they don't hold on to them until they get old and become money pits... -

Yep...all downhill from here. -
An Escalade Coupe de Ville with a long hood, 2dr body, short trunk on the LWB chassis would be cool...

I drive less than 10k miles per year, split between 2 cars... normal commute is less than 50 miles a day. If it's over 200 miles, I usually fly..(being in the middle of Arizona, there isn't really much within 300 miles or so that I would go to). -
Cadillac News: 2015 Cadillac Escalade Pics Leak Ahead Of Reveal

Interior looks great from the initial pics...love the wood and brown leather...looks like it would make a comfy commuter car, a quiet smooth place for the daily grind.. -

I see a slight resemblance to the Merc GL front end (GL is the full size, ML is the midsize, GLK is the compact), but it's still a pretty distinctive design. The Caddy grille is much larger. -

Audi News: Audi Q3's Arrival Into The U.S. Gets Delayed

Lame..they to get rid of the double standard and have one standard for cars and trucks. FWD CUVs aren't trucks. -

What's it matter? Car, CUV, same difference..something to do w/ CAFE ratings? -
They are afraid of getting burned by making a decision...rather let others lead then follow, seems like..

Agreed.. the GC diesel is a very appealing proposition to me. But I find Tesla exciting because they are not only a new American car company but also a Silicon Valley high tech company success story..and I'm still a techie first and foremost. Gas, diesel, electric, fuel cell, etc.. I think there are a lot of configurations that are going to be strong in the future..not necessarily limited to one fuel source/powerplant type... -

I think there are people on this site that are stuck in the past and have no interest or understanding of where the automobile is today and where it is going in the future...it's very much a traditional, conservative mindset, afraid of evolution and new technology. The future is going see a variety of energy sources and engine technologies...
