  1. The 1LE option on a 6MT Camaro SS includes a matte black hood wrap, but I'm pretty sure there is no factory option for the whole car to be matte black. Probably a dealer installed option...it's trendy around here I've noticed...
  2. Enterprise is a 1/2 mile from my house, without having to go to the airport and pay the extra airport fees. I still use Alamo when I fly in somewhere, will give National a try on my next such trip..
  3. Interesting...I don't think I've noticed an EV on rental car lots..will have to see if my local Enterprise has any hybrids or EVs on the lot when I'm there Friday; I've reserved a CTS (or equivalent as they say) for my little weekend road trip to Fontana.
  4. Looks like the local Chevy store had a couple '14 Camaros out front, incl. one in Matte Black. Wonder if that is a factory option?
  5. I have a Toyota Camry Hybrid 2012 and it has the largest opening doors I have ever seen on a car; tall and wide and open real wide. It has more front seat space than my old Lucerne and it was really big. Two problems with this. 1) While it is big for many, I have tried the latest version of Camry and while roomy to a point, it is not for tall people as once I got the front seat so that I was comfortable, no one could sit behind me and I really do not like sitting partially reclined. 2) I support American jobs first before anything else and will buy from GM and Ford as long as they exist to support our country. So Toyota will always loose out. My 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid was made in Georgetown, Kentucky USA!!! Yes, plenty of American jobs with Toyota..a cousin of mine worked for them for 25 years in Kentucky.
  6. I'd love to see pics of Niki Lauda's Ferrari 312T (bottom of the page, left) and some of the LeMay cars.....have you been to the LeMay Museum yet? Sound like a great place and collection..
  7. Anecdotal, I do have friends that moved from a 3 series to an X5 when they had kids...the guy had a 3 series 4dr, wife had a Merc ML when they married...they had twins, then traded the 3 series on an X5, then later traded the ML on an Escalade ESV. The 5 series owners I know didn't trade 3-series on them...one went from a Pathfinder to a used 5 then a new 5, another went from a Grand Am to a Volvo 240 to a used 540 then a new 5 series wagon, then another 5 series wagon, now has an A7..
  8. It's a $75k compact luxury hybrid economy car. It will be interesting to see how it sells.
  9. If it looks half as good as the 2-door, then the question becomes "why buy a 3-Series?"... Well, it's for the same reason the 6 series Gran Coupe exists relative to the 5 series sedan. The regular sedan is the volume car, the Gran Coupe is the more stylish lower volume niche model.
  10. And of course, more body styles are coming..the 4 series Gran Coupe (4dr coupe) is coming...
  11. Interesting...lighter than I thought it would be..figured it would be more around 4000lbs.
  12. Saw a bright yellow '14 Corvette Stingray yesterday, first one I'd seen on the road...sharp, though not the color I'd choose (too flashy)...also saw a black '14 Camaro.
  13. Why is it ok for Audi to build their sports car, the TT, off a VW platform? And it is a FWD platform car with a transverse layout seeking Corvette pricing with power of a midsize sedan. So good! And the ELR is FWD w/ a transverse 4cyl...pretty lowly for that price point...
  14. Yeah, I think I'd probably be looking Boxster S or Cayman....or for a sedan/coupe, a CTS-v. I just can't see spending that much for a 4cyl.
  15. The dealers will probably tack on an extra $10k in 'market adjustment', so yes, it probably won't sell for MSRP...
  16. Didn't the GC get it back in '11 when it was redesigned? '14 was a mild MCE..
  17. No, a 5 w/ ios7.. R
  18. My work iPhone has been fine since updating w/ ios7..never seen a blue screen on an iPhone, thought that was a Windows exclusive.. My Mac Book Pro has been crashy w/ the 'Gray Screen of Death' lately, but I've traced that to firewall settings changes from using sshuttle to do VPN tunneling when at client sites. The bigger annoyance lately is Chrome on the Mac, which routinely locks up and prevents any mouse or keyboard inputs...so I've quit using Chrome and sticking w/ Safari and Firefox.
  19. Welcome back..congrats on winning some very cool gear.
  20. I'm surprised Rolls hasn't done a city car based on the Mini yet... Hmmm....maybe one way Fiat can get more volume in the US is to do a restyled 500 badged as the Chrysler 50..
  21. Instant collectible.
  22. The parking garage of one my company's clients put in 4 chargers back in June, they expanded to 8 a couple weeks ago because of demand...I've seen a mix of Volts (incl. a colleague's), a Leaf, a Tesla roadster and a couple of Tesla Ses using them... my colleague gets to work around 7:30, plugs in, then at lunch goes out and disconnects.. (though I've read that the charger provider is in trouble (Blink Network).
  23. Hardly...the Tesla owners I know tend to be successful, well educated tech industry people...not weird.
  24. In San Diego a few weeks ago I saw several diesel GLs being used to tow race car trailers. Some people had the monster crew cab duallie pickups, but many had SUVs. The most eclectic tow vehicle I saw was a 5dr '55 Suburban (4 doors on the right, 1 on the left).
  25. Yes, and for real-world use, 250 miles is plenty enough to go between charges.
