True, they were a midsize B-body. Basically an update of the '71 B-body, which included the Coronet, Charger, Road Runner, GTX and Satellite. '75 was a restyle w/ more formal rooflines for regular 2drs and various re-namings in the following years. The Charger SE and Cordoba were Chrysler's answer to the Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Regal, Cutlass Supreme, Elite and Cougar XR-7 in the growth years of the midsize personal luxury coupe..

Saw a few old Beetles and VW vans buzzing around in So Cal over the last few days...along w/ several other cars you don't see elsewhere, like '70s Datsun 510s, '70s Datsun Lil Hustler pickups, '70s-80s RWD Toyota Corollas, an Initial-D spec Toyota Trueno (w/ the paint job, wheels and graphics as in the Manga). Whilst cruising around Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, etc for a few hours yesterday I saw lots of uncommon and unusual (McLarens) cars...

Functional...the plastics seemed ok...had some faux stitching on the dash pad. Cup holders worked ok, decent sized glove box and several cubbyholes. Outward visibility was good.

I was in So Cal the last few days for the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix Indy Car race weekend, so it was only appropriate my rental car was a Camry. Had a white Camry w/ a black & gray two tone cloth interior. Drove about 150 miles around Long Beach and Orange County over the last few days. I had a choice of a Camry or Altima Friday night at Hertz, and I realized I'd never driven one so what the heck... Impressions: Nothing memorable. The car was perfectly functional, comfortable, smooth, quiet but really didn't leave much of an impression. Big trunk. Power seemed adequate for accelerating up the notoriously short So Cal on-ramps to the various freeways I used. It left so little of an impression I didn't even take a photo. It must have been a base model, I did notice the left side of the dash had several plugs where switches would be and it had manual seats, surprising to see these days. No nav that I noticed, but it did have a touchscreen for audio functions. To sum it up: plain vanilla, but just the way American consumers like it.

Saw a dark blue McLaren MP4-12C yesterday and a dark blue Acura RLX--first one of those I'd seen, didn't realize it was on sale yet. Also drove past a McLaren dealer (Newport Beach, CA), first one of those I'd seen.

Alfa Romeo Aims For 300,000 Sales By 2016 :Comments
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Reader Reviews
Sounds overly ambitious..haven't they been talking about bringing Alfa back for 15 years or so now? I'll believe it when I see it... -
Industry News: Subcompact Sales Slide Despite High Gas Prices
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Too small, too noisy. I can't stand cramped, noisy 4 cyl cars. I try and avoid anything smaller than a midsize in a rental, would never buy a FWD compact or subcompact appliance.- 14 replies

I'll have to try National...what I like about Alamo are the self-checkin kiosks and pick your own car...(but those aren't usually at California locations where I'm usually going).

Interesting..didn't realize Enterprise was related to National and Alamo. I usually use Alamo when I travel, and Enterprise for local rentals. My neighborhood Enterprise always has a nice stock of Cadillacs and GMCs, which is probably coincidental, but they are across the street from the local Cadillac/Buick/GMC and Chevy dealers...

GM to hire 1000 for Chandler Innovation Center
Robert Hall replied to Robert Hall's topic in General Motors
Looking at the job postings they've placed so far, there appears to be a lot of good stuff in my niche (enterprise software engineering and architecture, esp. w/ Java and other web technologies). There are several positions here I'd apply for if I was looking. http://jobs.gm.com/search/?&q=&title=Filter%3A%20title&location=Filter%3A%20city&date=Filter%3A%20date&locationSearch=arizona -
I see plenty of older Burbans around, mostly the '92-99 style and fewer of the '73-91 style...

Major car companies, i.e. Toyota, Honda, Ford, and GM love that sort of vehicle. Yes, that's what the masses want. Functional appliances...we have to remember car enthusiasts are maybe only 1-2% of the buying public, most consumers go w/ whatever appliance is top rated by Consumer Reports. That's just the way it is..

Finally found what I was looking for last year
Robert Hall replied to Camino LS6's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
Roof needs painted, but otherwise looks straight and solid for a 19yr old truck. -

Wants to disable the auto locking system - searching for a locksmith
Robert Hall replied to incheyenne's topic in Buick
Not sure why you would want to disable it. One thing I've noticed in GM rentals before that I would like to disable is the auto-unlocking feature..very annoying. -
GM News: Spying: 2015 GM's Full Size SUV Lineup
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
They should offer the Escalade in SWB and LWB (like now) plus extra LWB and Pullman versions... -
I like wagons...it's too bad Dodge doesn't still offer the Magnum...would love to see a 2nd gen Magnum. I'd rather have a wagon than a weak FWD-based CUV or minivan.

It grew on me...at first I didn't like it because the tail is so high and the deck so short, but now I love the design...

Seems like a ripoff of the Tesla roadster...Lotus Elise based?

It will be interesting to see where they go styling wise w/ an ATS coupe...whether they go for a more sedan-like roofline or go for fastback drama ala the current CTS coupe. I'd also love to see a high drama 4dr coupe---a 4dr w/ the fastback roofline like the current CTS coupe and frameless door glass..

Vehicle: Volkswagen Beetle TDi (2013)
Robert Hall replied to ocnblu's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Speaking of cluelessness at dealers, I'll never forget the time back around 1990 I took my Mustang GT into a Ford dealer for service, and the service tech sent a young guy to bring it from the lot into the garage and he couldn't drive a manual....slipping the clutch, stalling the car, grinding gears... -
Didn't realize the new Impalas were out yet...haven't seen one. I saw a sharp white '64 Cadillac 4dt ht w/ wire wheels and a sharp red '66 Olds 88 2dr ht.
