  1. I couldn't imagine paying $30k or more for a 4 cylinder. When I was younger, 4 cylinders were for cheap econoboxes. Times have changed, just very strange to see 4 cylinders--which were the very definition of 'low end'--- being in premium priced cars. At least they aren't FWD...
  2. It would make sense to have a compact or midsize CUV for Buick in the US, odd that they have a subcompact and a full size with nothing in between currently.
  3. In this era of time shifting w/ DVRs, streaming shows, etc TV commercials seem like a dying medium...about the only time I see tv ads is when I'm watching a live sporting event....otherwise, I fast forward through them...doesn't seem like a great investment.
  4. This one had manual seats, I found it hard to adjust the backrest--either was too vertical or too angled back. Coupled w/ a steering wheel that didn't telescope, I found I used the Italian style driving position... (arms straight out).
  5. Had a silver '13 Impala LT w/ 20k miles on it for this past weekend's rental in Colorado. Had a sunroof. Got my head sunburned driving w/ it open. Enjoyed going up in the high country where it is cool--50 degrees and windy at the top of Loveland Pass. Drove about 250 miles from Denver out along I-70 and back on Saturday. Used less than half a tank of gas. Plenty of power on steep grades. This was the 5th or 6th Impala rental I've had in the last 2 years..always a pleasant experience. Loveland Pass Summit (11,990 feet elevation) Dillon Reservior, Dillon, CO
  6. The phone that's getting buzz in my circles currently is the HTC One...a couple coworkers got them recently...seems pretty nice. I'm still happy w/ my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx despite it's issues (hanging, flakyness). I'm carrying an iPhone 5 for work, it's too small though.
  7. Of course they do..if the sales are too high, they would cut into sales of other models and lower the CAFE ratings...
  8. Figured it would be up there...about $2k less than it's only competitor, the Charger SRT8. 55hp less than the SRT8, though, but 45hp more than the R/T--for $15k more. Alas, w/ dealer gouge, these will probably be $60-65k for a while...
  9. Yes..I've got folders full of the last 10 years of maintenance/repair receipts for my sister's two Mercs...$1200 here, $2000 there, $4000 there....fun stuff.
  10. I've driven a couple of rental 2nd gen ('12) CTSes, one a 3.6 and one a base. Both were very nice, they seem like cars I could live with as a daily driver..very comfortable, fun on twisty roads. I do like the STS quite a bit also.
  11. Parts. Primarily stolen to provide parts for illicit repair shops, I've read.
  12. For me, I just can't warm to the Genesis and prefer to stick w/ a domestic brand. I've had experiences w/ older Mercedes and they seem to become money pits as they age (esp. w/ the electronics). A CTS, STS, or even a DTS are cars on my radar...as are the Chrysler/Dodge LX models...and even as an ancient as they are, I like the Panthers....
  13. 1st gen CTS or Avalanche?
  14. My Terrain has enough rear room to seat Shaq comfortably with room to spare. That's not a car... that's a CUV.
  15. Stop-start is old news, been available in some models for years.
  16. STSes are nice.I had a couple of them as rentals back in '10-11..had one for a week, seems like a very nice car to live with.
  17. Looked at but no... couldn't do it. You're the warmest so far though. 1st gen LaCrosse or it's Regal predecessor?
  18. I wonder if the RHD models have a different console w/ the parking brake and shifter positions reversed.
  19. I assume they use a console parking brake lever because it's cheap...nothing 'fashionable' about it..and a console pull lever is what the standard control is world wide in cheap midsizers.., since this is a world car, they standardize such controls.
  20. I like those cubbies.... looking at how narrow the center console area is, I can see how most cars in this class would benefit from a column shift and dash handbrake release, free up center console space...
  21. I'm assuming it's because the Malibu is a world model (and the Impala isn't), so it gets a face w/ the Chevy world model styling cues like the Sonic, etc...
  22. Definitely an interesting topic... I may have to replace my Jeep in the next year (145k but still going) and I'm thinking of something full size, low mileage, clean and used for around $25k....late model DTS, Town Car or Grand Marquis, Charger or 300 are on my radar..
  23. The millions of 3 ton light duty pickups on the roads have done far more road damage than a few electric cars will, I think... In time, as the electric auto grow, they will do far more damage than the light duty trucks. .... based on.... what? The short term is the large amount of Green House gas produced for each battery pack built. Longer term is the added weight as more and more auto's get built, that added weight will mount up and cause more wear and tear on the roads. Accidents will I think release more toxins and cause more delays due to the special mixture of the battery packs and the special cleanup equipment. I believeV I don't buy the added weight argument.. the added weight is minimal. Again, compared to the weight of existing trucks (light trucks, medium duty, semis, etc) the weight of cars is inconsequential.
  24. My comment wasn't a "low blow". I was guessing that he got him some powah!! GMCGUY74 I never took your comments as a low blow, I was more thinking the trade it in for the 4th gen Camaro or Accord as a low blow. J/K...was referring back to past BK threads...
