Cheers or Jeers: 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Woodie
Robert Hall replied to wildmanjoe's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
Nope, and that 4.0 sure looks like a Jeep straight 6 in the pic.. Other than the aftermarket woodie trim, appears to be in clean shape for a 1st gen GC. -
Hopefully a new 4 cyl Mustang won't be as dreadful as the last time Ford put a 4cyl in the Mustang. 6 years with one left me with permanent distaste for 4 cyl engines.

Cheers or Jeers: 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Woodie
Robert Hall replied to wildmanjoe's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
Hmmm...in '93, they did make a woodie version of the GC branded as a Grand Wagoneer, but this isn't it... -
Chevrolet News:Rumorpile: Is This The 2014 Corvette's Rear End?
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Got to think outside the box... A V6 Corvette, esp. if it's priced lower than the current entry level model, could help Chevy get some Corvette buyers younger than the current model's AARP buyers. -
Wonder what will be new in Detriot this year...
Robert Hall replied to daves87rs's topic in The Lounge
Chevy SS is supposed to debut at the Daytona 500 in February, I've read. -
Cadillac News: Cadillac to unveil the ELR in Detroit
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
Yeah, the VED concept is 3 years old, so that nonsense is in the past.... -
Something like that would make more sense than a 4cyl Camaro IMO as far a small cheap sporty Chevy...
-
A 4cyl Camaro sounds like a very strange idea, but I can see it happening...will give GM a coupe to fit the niche abandoned after the Cobalt coupe, I guess...

Chevrolet News:Rumorpile: Is This The 2014 Corvette's Rear End?

Corvette generations tend to run around 7-9 years at the least...so is the C7 going to be short lived if the C8 is already started? Seems unlikely we will see the C8 until at least 2020.. -
Cadillac News: Cadillac to unveil the ELR in Detroit
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
Of course, the i8 concept is way toned down from the Vision EfficientDynamics concept that preceeded it....the VED had hideous body panels that appeared to hover separate from other parts of the car, the rear end was particularly revolting.. -

I haven't seen the MKZ yet in person...looking forward to seeing one, I like the taillight treatment and other details..wondering where they are going to go w/ the next MKS.. -

The BMW i8 concept seems to be intentionally ugly...I wonder how toned down the production version will be.. -
Chevrolet News:Rumorpile: Is This The 2014 Corvette's Rear End?
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
I can't see the point of functional vents there (on a front engined car)... and GM has a precident of fake grilled vents on various cars (ATS, Malibu, etc). No one said the '14 dash looked like the '05...it was said that it resembled the early '90s dash. Agreed the '63-67 had the best dash design, very sporty...the '68-82 looked similar to the '67-68 F-body dash, the '84-90 digital dash was dreadful, IMO...a blocky mess suitable for a truck. -

Cadillac already has 3 sedans...a 2dr is a good idea for something distinctive. -
Chevrolet News:Rumorpile: Is This The 2014 Corvette's Rear End?
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Since the new car is coming for '14, is there a '13 that is a repeat of 2012? I assume there will be an obligatory 60th anniversary package... -
Chevrolet News:Rumorpile: Is This The 2014 Corvette's Rear End?
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
That rear end is rather cheesy in the details (the fake plastic vents outboard of the taillights, the busy lower panel)...the dash does look like a nod to the early 90s design..and what's up w/ the gauges? Digital? Ugh. trapizoidal taillights? Here's the '94, '97, and '05..and '12 looks a lot like the '05 except they went from a 4 spoke to a 3 spoke wheel. -
The Jeep is doing OK for 140k miles, but I'm thinking of getting something newer w/ under 50k miles for my daily driver in the next few months...
-
They need a clever brand name for the 4.3 to make it successful like Ford has their Ecoboost V6 in the F150.

Had to do a presentation at a client today to wrap up a project that I worked a lot of hours on over the last couple months..realized this morning I didn't have a Mac Mini Display Port to HDMI connector (for the client's conference room projector). Ran to the Apple store at 10 when they opened, got a Belkin connector...for $38. Put it on the company Amex, but still...$38 for a frickin' dongle? Anyhoo, my presentation went very well, the client is happy...home enjoying a good glass of champagne before heading out later to dinner at one of the best Italian places in town, then off to Colorado tomorrow for 5 days offline in the high country...

Lincoln News: Lincoln Sets A Goal Of 18% Increase In Sales
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
An 18 percent increase over 5 or 10 years is probably more realistic. -
or Not sure which you deserve for the dirty bits idea, that is no way to treat the HHR, this auto is way to fugly for a GM model. GM could so build a better version than this thing. In it's own way, it's as ugly as the HHR.

Cadillac News: Cadillac to unveil the ELR in Detroit
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
I wonder when they quit using that...the '80s-90s era W140 platform E class used it, my sister's '91 300CE has it, neat to watch. Speaking of wipers, I noticed the new Fusion has the old school meet-in-the-middle style wipers....IIRC, some GMs in the '80s-90s used that style also--some of the W-bodies and Corvettes IIRC. Anyway, back to the ELR...I'm looking forward to seeing this car, regardless of the drivetrain, if it looks a sharp as the show car it's going to be an interesting model for Cadillac. -
Too bad it's not based on GM dirty bits...put a Chevy badge on it, and it could be an HHR replacement...

Cadillac News: Cadillac to unveil the ELR in Detroit
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
Well, those could be halo cars for Cadillac also...but this is actually going into production...
