  1. Sounds good....i-Cam Technology FTW!
  2. Nope... lots of car companies are doing it, esp w/ hybrid and electric cars. Think how cool it would be to cruise up a Leaf and have the sound of a Peterbuilt instead of silence..
  3. Yes..something nebulous like Mazda's 'Skyactiv' could work...tout the efficiency and power of the engines without getting into technical specifics. 'Greenpower'.
  4. IBC like the root beer.. Problem is, the mass market consumer has no idea what a 'block' or 'cam' is.
  5. It'd be interesting looking under the hood, but rather pathetic going silently down the road (despite the 500 lb weight advantage the '57 enjoys). C-57s should rumble & growl. Could add synthesized engine noise as a number of car makers are doing today..green hot rods are going to be a growth industry eventually, I think.
  6. How about a tri-five Chevy w/ a Volt drivetrain..that would be radical...
  7. Looks like Simplicity is still around... http://www.simplicitymfg.com/
  8. That used to be a lawn mower brand, I think
  9. They need to come up w/ a catchy name for marketing it so the masses will find it appealing..something like 'EcoPush technology' ...
  10. Why? They don't seem to have a problem w/ that in Europe. M-B badged semi truck tractors, garbage trucks, Sprinter vans, etc...been that way for many decades.
  11. Well, they could expand Smart, but I'm not sure if they can do it given how dismal Smart has done so far... Chrysler Corp was their other attempt at volume brands, but they didn't manage that very well...
  12. I don't know how he does it..it seems like it would be very expensive to constantly trade cars... maybe renting would be better than leasing, get a different vehicle ever week..
  13. I like the Ford Custom and Mercury Monterey...mostly because I really like the styling of the big Fords of that era.
  14. choice
  15. The Sonic doesn't have a CD player? Strange..
  16. No markets are "requesting" that type of vehicle from mercedees, it's a pure volume grab, nothing more. An unchecked vanity- the same that approved the tagline "In a perfect world, there'd be a mercedes in every driveway". It's mercedees following Cadillac of 1981. And fuel in europe has been notoriously high for years & years; if M-B is just NOW getting around to answering the market, it's already "too late" as the wags say about anything Cadillac proposes. Actually, they aren't 'just NOW responding'...the A-class has been out in Europe for over a decade, the B-class close to it...and why do you always misspell 'Mercedes'? Weird...check your 'facts'.. As far as gas mileage, they have plenty of diesels to offset the low volume AMG models..
  17. Well, the ATS is going to have the 2.5...same displacement as the Iron Duke..
  18. Why not; mercedees is bringing out FWD cars in the $30K price range merely to "sell more". The scary thought is a Caddy derived from the Cruze or Sonic would probably sell well. I hope GM doesn't stoop that low...leave Buick for the FWD entry-lux models.
  19. GM does by and large follow the Toyota playbook, though...offering a wide variety of boring FWD appliances..Ford is on the same plan, unfortunately. Yes they do, the Cruze is mostly boring and geared toward the Civic/Corolla, the Impala is being repositioned to take on the Avalon, which Ford already did with the Taurus. Toyota/Scion has the iQ, and here comes the Chevy Spark to compete. Rav4 and Highlander go unibody crossover, GM SUV's aren't far behind. Lexus has the RX, Cadillac has the SRX. To a large extent, the Toyota playbook works though, that is why others follow. Yes...quality mediocrity sells to the uninformed masses.
  20. GM does by and large follow the Toyota playbook, though...offering a wide variety of boring FWD appliances..Ford is on the same plan, unfortunately. So are BMW and Mercedes. Audi is already on the pulpit. BMW has no BMW-brand FWD vehicles yet, MB just a couple...the vast majority of their cars are superior RWD models, not FWD mediocrity.
  21. A large percentage of those sales are just trucks, though.

  23. Ugh...cheesy aftermarket lighting...I don't get why people put that crap on their vehicles.
  24. This is one of those pointless arguments that will go on to the end of time....like it was 25 years ago w/ carbs vs fuel injection, the vast majority of car makers have moved on from pushrod to OHC...obviously there were reasons for that...even GM and Chrysler have OHC for their 4 and 6 cyl engines. It's a losing argument arguing for pushrod. Get over it and move on..
  25. I wonder what dealers it will be sold at....SRT doesn't have standalone dealers that I know of. It is rather odd that Chrysler uses SRT both as a brand (SRT Viper) and as a trim level (Challenger SRT8, Charger SRT8, etc).. Anyway, it's going to be interesting to see what they do..
