  1. My folks had a '69 Marquis 4dr ht and a '73 one..but I was too young to remember the '69, can barely remember the '73.
  2. That Volvo is sweet...can't recall the last time I saw a coupe or wagon P1800...
  3. I think pure hybrids like the Prius will continue to do well, but hybrid versions of regular models will continue to do not so good...people buying hybrids seem to prefer pure hybrids.
  4. I wonder if a CUV or coupe will be the next variation... though a larger Camry sized Prius is rumored also.
  5. It is not so much they did not have any money they just did not have enought to fix all that was wrong. If you have only so much jam you have to spread it thin to cover the piece of toast. Too many models and too many brands wasted the money and just did not provide the return on the dollar spent. Like it or not the truth is the truth and you can just wish it away by not speaking of it. Again GM did not go belly up in the last few years, it took years to do so with failed or weak product that the public just did not want or like. They can't keep using the BR and past mistakes as excuses forever..they have to execute and build a range of world-class competitive models that sell....they do seem to be making progress w/ some models..
  6. Yaris isn't a hybrid. The Prius C is close in size, though.
  7. Anecdotal evidence, of course, but most of the hybrid owners I personally know are still on their first.. I do know a couple 2 Prius couples, and one guy that is on his 3rd (he's had one of each generation, getting a new one every 5 years)...I know another guy that bought an '05 Prius now has a '10 and a '12 Prius V for the wife's family hauler (replaced a GMC Jimmy).
  8. It's definitely a '69. I love that era of big Fords and Mercs...beautiful car.
  9. Wow...nice to see a '49-51 in stock original condition instead of the usual ugly chopped top custom..
  10. The current Scirocco would look better with more rear window slope, IMO...it looks too much like a squished Golf in profile...
  11. Unfortunately, the styling is ruined by the weak transverse engine FWD platform that seems to result in short noses and short wheel to firewall distances. They could put an extra 6 inches between the wheels and firewall, but nooo....the XTS would look a lot better w/ a 117-120 inch wheelbase (more length ahead of the firewall) than a tiny 111 inch wheelbase. I could tolerate FWD vehicles more if it wasn't for the stubby noses. The MKS, LaCrosse, Impala, and countless other FWD models suffer from this design flaw. Weak FWD proportions usually also compromise front legroom. There is no excuse for a largish car to have wheelwell intrusion into the front floor.
  12. 100F at 5pm tonight. AUGGGGGGHHHHHH. It's only April 9...
  13. I like the '70s colors...much more interesting than the limited color palettes and vile gray plastic sh*t interiors of today...
  14. I'll be surprised if anything other than the fascias, grille, hood, taillights will differ from the G8...otherwise it would require a bigger investment.
  15. I doubt if it would the Code 130R--the concept for that was very tiny. I'm assuming it will be the Commodore variation SS that has been rumored for years. Or something unexpected, though it seems unlikely it would be another Alpha this soon.
  16. Wait, GM in the 1980s when they ahd 40% domestic market share, and were the largest corporation in the world, didn't have any money? But Daimler-Benz had over $1 billion to spend on a redesign of the S-class and Toyota had $1 billion to spend on the Lexus LS400? How did they afford it? 'Didn't have any money' has been the standard excuse for GM for decades...time to drop it.
  17. sharp (Speaking of dog bites, I nicknamed this one 'Bitey' because she bites sometimes...)
  18. The Taurus is available w/ AWD. Don't know if the new Avalon or Azera will be though.. And how much is the AWD Taurus? Most AWD Taurus are SHO's and are well over $40K Sticker. If you charge that much for an Impala you may as well get a ATS or even better yet a CTS. The cheapest AWD SEL is approx $31k. As far as Cadillac models, it's a different customer...an Impala customer isn't going to be shopping Cadillacs.
  19. Any word yet on the on-sale date for the ATS or XTS?
  20. The Taurus is available w/ AWD. Don't know if the new Avalon or Azera will be though..
  21. Megacube. Nissan built the one-off Juke GT-R, a Cube GT-R would be interesting also..
  22. At Easter brunch in the restaurant parking lot, saw some interesting cars....a couple Merc CL AMG coupes, a late model Porsche 911 Turbo cabrio, an orange new Camaro SS convertible, a dark blue Bentley Continental GT, and was parked next to a 'murdered out' BMW X6M...
  23. AWD would be a nice option, as the competition does offer it. AWD is no substitute for RWD--even w/ AWD, Epsy Dos is still just a transverse engine FWD platform, which is in no way comparable to RWD. I'd take a Charger or 300 over any of GM or Ford's FWD/AWD big cars (that's just me, though..I know the general public prefers FWD vanilla). As far as the winter driving aspect, nothing wrong w/ AWD...I'd rather have AWD over FWD. But I'd rather have 4WD w/ ground clearance over AWD...and mud and snow tires instead of weak all-season tires..years of driving in Colorado, Michigan and Ohio winters honed those preferences.
  24. Even scarcer are the 4dr fastback Cutlasses and Centuries..can't recall the last time I saw one of those..
