  1. They will have to expand the target demo, though..the 65+ crowd that buys the DTS isn't that down w/ the electronics...
  2. Happy Birthday, Fearless Leader! Keep it real.
  3. Nice El Camino.
  4. A couple obscure Mopars I like--the '78-79 Dodge Magnum and '79-81 Dodge St Regis.
  5. Hmmm..that pic doesn't look like the SRX interior at all...is it getting a redesign? It's a nice dash design. This is the '12 SRX dash from the Caddy website http://www.cadillac....m-1-685x220.jpg
  6. I remember the Sterling..based on the Acura Legend. I liked the 5dr hatchback version. Other odd Euro hatchbacks I liked included the Rover SD1 (sold only in 1980 in the US as the 3500..they sold only 800 here, seen only 1 over the years)...also liked the Merkur Scorpio.
  7. :puke: It's those canted headlights that get Balthy's pulse racing... Never cared for the canted lights....but how about that strange upper grill, maybe that is where Toyota got the idea for the current Tundra's little upper grille... The '60 De Soto had a nicer front end, IMO.
  8. One interesting factoid about the later Canadian Meteors ('62-76) is they basically had a Mercury body w/ Ford-based interiors...like the '69 Meteor LeMoyne looked like a Monterey but w/ a Ford Galaxie dash. The earlier Meteors used a Ford body since they had the Monarch brand also that used Mercury bodies. I've seen one Meteor in the US, years ago saw a '74 Meteor Rideau 500 2dr ht in Florida w/ Ontario plates...
  9. Going back a while, I dented the left rear quarter panel and cracked the bumper cover on my Jeep in '05 by backing into a concrete parking garage pillar whilst on the cell phone. Never got it fixed. Also in '05, swerved into a freeway construction barrel to avoid rear ending a Volvo wagon that cut in front of me at the merge point of a freeway entrance ramp..ripped off the passenger side mirror and broke out the passenger side window. And about 20 years ago, I braked hard on a freeway in Ohio in traffic to avoid a big piece of a truck tire, may have inadvertently caused a 3 car crash behind me...
  10. i do like some older European cars that you would have to be a masochist to own (i.e. cars that are probably breakdown prone money pits)...like the Lotus Esprit, Alfa Romeo Montreal, Jensen Interceptor, Triumph Stag, the late '60s-70s Rolls Royce Corniche coupe and convertible, '80s Bentley Mulsanne...
  11. Have to exclude anything that is retro... As far as purely modern design, I was thinking Citroen also, esp. the DS3 and DS5 and the C6. I like some of the recent Alfas, now out of production like the Brera, Spyder and 159. As far as US market, I like the CTS in it's variations (even the giant-butt coupe). I like the Jaguar XF, like the front end of the XJ but hate the rear and the dash design. I liked the first gen Merc CLS alot, haven't seen a 2nd gen model yet.
  12. This reminds me...a couple years ago I was in Colorado Springs and am pretty sure I saw my '88 Bronco II that I traded in '00. Still had some of the same dents I that I remember putting on it, and the Ohio/MIchigan rust spots..amazing to see it still on the road.
  13. I love the '71 Riv...probably my favorite '70s GM design. But I didn't mention it since I figure it has more than a few fans...
  14. Gas stations that don't have pay-at-the-pump, or do but have a sign that says 'please pay inside'....F that $h!.
  15. Backed out of a parking spot at a Starbucks a few months ago and hit a slammed Jetta that was lurking behind me --couldn't see it through the rear view mirror, should have checked the side mirror. Put a nice wrinkle into his rear wheel arch/rear door...insurance company took care of it. Made a right turn on red and got caught by a camera in a rental car in Colorado back in June..never heard anything from that. . I noticed this morning that my license plate registration sticker had expired in September. Checked on my desk and found the DMV envelope w/ the new registration and sticker....unopened..been busy, I guess.
  16. Interesting..don't see a pedal on the left...w/ that SRX parking brake, it's a push button to set and release it? I see the button on the left..
  17. Hmmm... I put pots in the dishwasher on the pot setting. That usually takes care of them. But the glass lids sometimes take two cycles to get clean.
  18. The problem with the MKS dash is that all those buttons you see are from the Fusion, Taurus, or F-150. The plastic is hollow sounding, kinda like the plastic in a Lucerne. Sure it's all sewn together tightly, but for $63k, there are a lot better choices out there based on interior alone. That photo you posted just looks so dull. Lots of gray plastic with a little bit of matte silver trim. Very bland design.
  19. Yeah, I love those early '70s big Fords. Really like the Boxster and Cayman. For that matter, any Porsche (other than the Panamera and Cayenne). The 2 generations of Acura Legend coupes (really nicely styled for FWD cars, IMO). The last generation of Honda Preludes Acura NSX Honda S2000 also Town Cars, and most big Lincolns from '61 onward... The last few generations of Thunderbirds, even the 2 seater '80-85 Caddy Seville, '92-97 Caddy STS, '98-04 STS, '05-11 STS Many other GM models, but I figure I'm not the only one here that likes them ('71-76, '77-79, '80-85 B/C bodies) Older Mercedes S-classes, SLs AMC Javelins AMC Eagle (like the concept more than the execution) Lotus Esprit
  20. The hatch body has some very interesting character lines...I really like the line that goes from the taillights and wraps around the door handles...like the bright strip at the top of the side windows also.
  21. Enjoying a Rush concert on Palladia...great use of the HDTV and surround sound...bringing back happy memories of seeing them at Red Rocks in Colorado a few years ago...
  22. Must resist temptation. Though I've cruised through the lot of the local Chrysler Dodge Jeep store 3 times in the last week.
  23. Had some beautiful fall weather here today--65 and sunny..went out for a few hours this afternoon rolling around in the '91 Merc 300CE, sunroof open, windows all down for the hardtop effect.... Saw a gorgeous black & red '12 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca, a new Camaro in a dark berry red color I didn't recognize, and not 1 but 3 CTS-Vs.... saw a solid, primered and very rumbly '69 Chevelle.. saw a clean black '69 Impala Custom Coupe. Counted 25 Priuses, 4 Insights, and 1 Leaf..
  24. Love those '65-66 style Galaxies..did you ever see pics of the 4dr ht limos that were built back then? Gorgeous...
