  1. Saw a yellow '77-79 Lincoln Mk V that looks like it had suffered a homemade convertible conversion. Instead of a folding top, it had a grubby tarp.
  2. I like the shape of the '78-81 Malibu and LeMans 2drs...the roofline and general shape reminds me of the '64-65 A-bodies..
  3. I wonder if the ATS-V will weigh around 3450lbs....
  4. Don't think I've ever seen a Lincoln flower car in person of any era. Though I've seen photos of a Mark V-based one.
  5. Speaking of shortbed regular cab trucks, I saw a Ram one the other day..didn't know such a configuration still existed at Ram.
  6. Brian Eno--An Ending (Ascent). So beautifully used in the poignant clip from Top Gear, Season 13. The car, the cinematography, Clarkson's narration..the music. Maybe my favorite clip from the show.
  7. The XTS takes things in a strange direction of short hood, shorter deck. No, take a look at the ass on the XTS in Chris's Cadillac XTS spy video I like the music in that video.

  9. So? RWD proportions are better looking than common, generic FWD... Check out these long hood RWD proportions.... The E-bodies were unusal as they did look like RWD cars, they had no outward styling cues that would indicate FWD. Alas, the Chrysler gives away it's lame transverse engine/ FWD nature with the short wheel to door distance. Short hood and long deck..unpleasant except on a midengined car, IMO. Alas, I doubt if anything like this will happen in the future from an American automaker..
  10. The inline six will provide Mercedes with a new level of BMW-ness, the E350 coupe will have long hood and proper RWD proportions AND no B-pillar for a true hardtop look. This is the only combination possible to build a car better than the Hyundai Sonata. long hood, RWD, hardtop, with straight 6 and V8 versions...that's about as pure good as it gets...
  11. My Jeep got a shopping cart ding the day I bought it....stopped at W-M to buy floor mats. Don't know if it was a careless shopper or the wind.

  13. No one takes the Compass or Patriot seriously as Jeeps, they are just FWD car based cute utes. The bar is set pretty low for their replacement.
  14. Nice..will have to look for that one..I found the pale green '55 Caddy Fleetwood 4dr in this series a while back.
  15. St Louis, I think...there is a thread on here from last week about it..
  16. True. "Long time ago- no one remembers that." Mid 90s is when they switched to pedestrian V6s, IIRC. That's like 6 car leases ago dude! They aren't going to remember that. True... I just drove one this morning to Starbucks...the Merc 3.0 straight 6 is pretty nice ('91 300CE).
  17. Sweet...back when Pontiacs were pointy. I think I like the '76 grille treatment better.
  18. Yes..too many words to type. Another good old term for describing the same backward group is 'square'.
  19. Would be consistent with the strategy Ford and Chrysler are heading towards.. modern world vans for the US and European markets.
  20. Yes..the RWD good stuff and the forgettable FWD models.

  22. So wait... 40% are buying GM vehicles... based on incentives? Like cheap prices? And they're migrating to brands like Hyundai? Hyundai isn't exciting. So I guess Pontiac vehicles don't sell based on EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after all!. But C&G told me that they're the most excitingly exciting exciters that mankind has ever known! Hyundais are cheap and flashy, which the non-exciting Pontiacs tended to be...
  23. don't show a pic of the interior That's when the Bonneville had 20 vents and acres of nasty gray plastic inside?
  24. Hmm..don't recall the SNL skit..thought it was a South Park reference. Gross name for a product.
  25. The saga continues..it seems the cat may have a life or two left?
