Those old Internationals are neat..I used to see a crew cab pickup one in that green back in Colorado Springs. The Lonestar is pretty cool..the grille is supposed to be evocative of a '30s International truck. Reminds me of the PT Cruiser front end scaled up.

Hmmm..the clues in the 2nd email lead me to think Hyundai Genesis coupe, but it's not available w/ a V8. Unless this is sometime in the past, not 2010.

On the afternoon commute I saw an 'Avalade'--a black current gen Avalanche that had had all the regular badging removed, Cadillac wreath & crests and 'Escalade' badging added, and a faux-Escalade chrome grille added. Strange.

Sales of subcompacts is very dependent on gas prices..gas is cheap now, if it goes back up to $4/gallon this summer, watch sales of subcompacts take off...

Too bad the 6 isn't doing better..it's a really good looking car...saw one the other day..don't see them often. But it's sales numbers are pretty tiny compared to the Accord, Camry, Altima, Fusion, Malibu...

This morning on the commute saw a sharp dark blue w/ white top '68 Impala convertible and a white '70-72 Camaro SS w/ black stripes...saw them ahead of me at the same time, in parallel lanes. Nice to see some oldies out and about amidst the usual FWD generica, trucks, and SUVs of the morning freeway slog.

Also saw a really clean silver blue w/ blue top and dark blue interior mid '90s Fleetwood Brougham. Still see a few of those beasties around.

Unnecessary congestion was a big problem in Colorado Springs when I lived there '97-02. Almost 400k people, but no decent cross town freeway or beltline, just one N/S freeway. A study named it the most congested city in the US w/ under 1/2 mil back in the late '90s. They've done a lot of freeway widening and construction since then, better now, I think. I was down there visiting last year, but wasn't there at rush hour..

Pizza Hut delivery guy tonight was driving a late model Chevy Silverado HD diesel 4x4 crew cab long bed, dark blue, lifted on 35 inch tires on black & chrome wheels, big custom bull bar on the front, 1/2 dozen extra lights...

Lots of cars have back up cameras now, maybe they can start installing cameras or mirrors to see around the A-pillars..

Yeah, well, it's just the volume FWD Lexus on the Camry platform, so they are comparable. It's not like they are comparing an Epsilon to one of the RWD models.

They did, until 1976. With the introduction of the Tacoma in '95, the Hilux and Tacoma diverged. Today's Tacoma is bigger than today's Hilux, which is still pretty compact. Here in AZ I see Mexico-plated Hiluxes occasionally.

SR-5 was a trim level, they used that for a long time. IIRC, the Corolla and maybe the Celica also used SR-5 at different times.

With the dry, salt-free climates, I still see older 4Runners and pickups running around in Arizona and Colorado. Still see the '70s Hilux campers occasionally.

Interesting factoid--in some markets in the '90s, the Hilux was sold as the VW Taro! Never knew VW ever rebadged Toyotas..VW apparently built them in Germany for several years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Taro

Reminds me of when I moved out of an apartment some years ago--dropped my mattress and boxspring off a 3rd floor balcony, along w/ the sofa (elevator was out of order, didn't want to try and get them down the stairs), tossed a broken printer off the balcony also. Was listening to the mellow music of Powerman 5000, Static X and NIN then, IIRC. As far as the thread goes, I think I'm going to listen to some Rush, Nickelback, Neil Young and Robbie Robertson tonight in honour of this afternoon's hockey result...
