  2. Thanks for sharing..great pics. I missed this thread until today. I'll have to make an effort to get to a major show next season.
  3. Hmm...the tires do look a bit odd..I figured the rear was up do to brake dive...
  4. Saw of all things an Olds Firenza 2dr sedan....never knew Olds had that bodystyle--remember 4drs and hatchbacks back in the day. This had flush headlights, front end looked like a smaller Ciera. Must have been a later model.
  5. Hmmm...a picture of a mid '90s Camry braking on a freeway.
  6. IIRC, the last time I looked at CR (last May) the only luxury cars that were consistently above average were, as expected, Lexus models.
  7. reality (as in 'reality is complex', one of my favorite catch phrases)
  8. I think by 'small block' the Reg was referring to the pushrod V8s in the Escalade and CTS-v.
  9. The MKS and Town Car are the only Lincolns I like...the MKS for it's modern style and cabin tech, and the Town Car for it's old school style, and that it's the last of it's kind, Lincoln's equivalent of the '90s FWB. It's wierd, but I really think I'd be happy either w/ a modern lux car like the CTS or with a new-yet-old school one like the Town Car. Both appeal to me for completely different reasons. And comparing the Town Car to the DTS, I'd take the Town Car, no question.
  10. +1. I don't know if the mainstream's confidence in Toyota has really been shaken much...though the true believers probably think it's a government conspiracy against their favorite car maker. Just an informal, specific poll, but I've asked around a number of coworkers and friends that are serial Toyota buyers, they don't seem bothered much by the recalls, though one is looking at the new Kia Sorrento to replace his '05 Highlander. One positive anecdote--a friend's wife had been looking for a few months at the Camry, ES, Avalon, Altima, and Accord to replace her dying '99 Intrepid...I've been emailing her the bad news about Toyota, and suggested she look at the Malibu, Fusion, and Taurus also..heard Saturday that she bought a new Taurus. My friend, her husband,a long time Acura and Nissan fan, is still a bit skeptical about a Ford, but it's her money and decision...
  11. I wouldn't normally compare them because of the size difference (Lincoln is much bigger) and the drivetrain differences (the Lincoln being FWD/AWD). But they are at similar price points and both have powerful V6s. I like the styling of each, have sat in both at the auto show, haven't driven either. I'd give the CTS the edge for RWD and the slicker styling, the Lincoln looks good over all, but it's so tall and slab sided. I like the interiors of both, and they both have ample content and cabin tech. I wouldn't consider the CTS-v in the comparison, as it's in a different league all together..
  12. Reminds me of the early '90s Camaro IROC-Z Type R VTEC I used to see in Denver..wonder if it's still running around...
  13. Saw a silver R8 earlier..only the 3rd one I think I've seen on the road since they came out.
  14. I've been to a few good Ethiopian places in the Denver area, been a couple that were 'meh'. I kind of like it, definitely different. Haven't tried any out here in the Phoenix area. One cuisine I really haven't tried that I want to try soon is Phillipine--there are a couple Filipino restaurants out in Chandler near work. Haven't been for sushi or tempura in a while, going to have to try a couple of the sushi places near work.
  15. terriers aka 'eryth dogges' (my favorite breed group of dog)
  16. Conspiracy theorists online say they were taken out by Big Oil as Tesla poses a threat to them. I think it was probably an accident, something mechanical or perhaps due to pilot inexperience.
  17. 'How do you like me now?' by The Heavy. It's that catchy song from the Kia Sorento Super Bowl ad. Reminds me of a vintage James Brown song.
  18. Hmm..discovery of the day..didn't realize a 'raptor' was a bird of prey, thought it was a type of snake.
  19. I've seen a couple Ford Raptors. Pretty cool looking truck, esp. in the bright blue.
  20. That's pretty funny... I'm 235lbs, 6'0", and can bench...50 lbs? No idea, haven't benched in 15 years or more.
  21. I voted for brands I'd realistically shop in the next few years...brands that have models in the $25-50k range that I find appealing.
  22. For tailgating/picknicking? That's how the 4Runner is promoting theirs..
  23. Good one.
  24. Yes, it looks like the list is US brands built in the US. Import brand US production and non-US NA production would be separate numbers.
  25. The key factoid is those are cars only, trucks aren't included, which would double Chevy's number or more..
