  1. rust (as in 'Rusty Cage')
  2. Maybe they are going to use both fascias--one for the regular Orlando, and one for the Orlando Volt (a compact MPV seems like a natural application for the Volt powertrain)...they've done that before with some production hybrid and fuel cell prototypes--unique fascias (the Equinox and Tahoe come to mind). Rob
  3. hoard
  4. I've thought before about a Fox ragtop to go with my '87 GT hatchback, if I had the garage space. I looked at a clean '86 GT convertible about 10 years ago... I do want a Mustang GT convertible sooner or later, most likely an '05-09 or the '10+... Rob
  5. Happy Birthday!
  6. Very sharp...I like the lines, nice and curvy. And nice RWD proportions. Great interior.
  7. Yeah, go figure. 1234 pounds in 5 vehicles (an '07 Nissan 'station wagon' had 459 pounds) over an 8hr period along I-19 (from Mexico border north). Rob
  8. I'm surprised it didn't start an underhood fire
  9. There are at least two '80s B-body Caprices at my office, saw both in the lot at the same time today, parked side by side...a very clean lt yellow w/ tan interior '81-85 Caprice 2dr, very clean and an '87-90 4dr--white w/ blue interior, very clean also. Nice to see boxy '80s cars amidst contemporary generica. They look huge. Also saw a derelict '87-88 Cutlass Supreme coupe, in prime C4C condition--a goldish tan, faded/oxidized, with half the grille missing, the left headlight housing bent down, bent front bumper, shredded 1/2 vinyl top, a rolling wreck.
  10. Very cool..love this kind of artifacts.
  11. 1234 pounds of pot seized in Az in an 8 hr period, incl. this LeSabre. I guess they wanted to keep their pot nice and warm.. AZ Republic article on pot busts
  12. Funny... I don't have the link handy, but has anyone seen the 30-second versions of movies done as cartoons w/ bunnies? On 'Funny or DIe' maybe...pretty funny stuff.. R
  13. Yeah, A Regal or LaCrosse with a manual would probably achieve 0.000000005 percent of sales. Not my type of car, but it should be very competitive in its class. It's a well-designed, well-finished and well-equipped product. In the entry-lux space, I'd gravitate towards the CTS, but having different choices for different buyers is a good thing. Rob
  14. Another thing... I'd like to hang out in the pits of one of the C6-R teams for the weekend at LeMans. Maybe catch a ride in one during the race for an hour or so also.. R
  15. A one week 'package' tour including a guided tour through the Heritage Collection, a tour of an engineering center, a tour of a design center, drinks w/ Bob Lutz, a tour of the Milford Proving Ground and a drive around a track in a ZR-1, a tour of the Camaro plant (Oshawa) and the Corvette plant (Boweling Green). Not too much.. R
  16. I've been using Open Office for a while, really like it. Back when I was in grad school, I used LaTeX, which makes Word look like notepad as far as typesetting, formatting, etc capabilities. But it's brutally complex to use...
  17. Meh...it would just be an average FWD CUV with a V8 stuffed in, horrible handling from being nose heavy. What is the point? I'm sure someone with enough tools and time could stuff a V8 into a Cobalt. Again, what's the point? Just a waste of effort. It would still be a sow's ear, so to speak. Look at the V8 W-bodies...adding a V8 to a mediocre platform doesn't make it any less mediocre. On the other hand, the V8 Trailblazer SS was pretty nicely done since it was designed for the engine, let down by the cheapo interior. Rob
  18. Looks like a minor MCE. Autoblog '10 Lexus ES
  19. Well, Epsilon vs. Epsilon II. Where's the substantive difference? Both FWD platforms of similar size.
  20. Fascinating.. when I bought a battery for my Jeep about 5 months ago, I got a 2 year warranty w/ it--that was the longest available from the shop I went to. People I've talked with say they replace them every 12-16 months here. My sister replaces hers every 2-2 1/2 years, but she only drives each car 2000 miles a year at most. I'm driving 1000 miles a month or more.. Hopefully I won't be here long enough to find out how long mine lasts.. 16 months here so far. Rob
  21. Maybe more like 5% of the quality... you ever seen the interior of a Cayenne? Worlds nicer than the Torrent. Delusional thinking at best... it's a FWD/transverse V6 model, you can't just 'drop in a V8'... Now if Caddy had done an SRX-v (1st gen SRX), that would have been a sweet Cayenne competitor.
  22. "Hey nineteen"
  23. Sept 1 is when PCS starts at GM, I believe. Or it's beginning of the end. Or the end of days. Or the final reckoning. Rob
  24. Looks like a beautiful place...I have a couple friends in Denver that are from Montana (Billings, Missoula). I'll have to make it up there sometime...as well as the Canadian Rockies. Speaking of Helena and consultants, my sister is looking at gigs in Helena, Richmond, Va and Washington, DC for the next thing after her current Sacramento gig. There is nothing in Phoenix for her thing (large ERP project management). Rob
