  1. A coworker once said you should just ignore them, like they don't exist...kind of like the homeless..don't make eye contact, don't answer them.
  2. Actually, to be accurate, humans are a species. I was using 'humor' by claiming human as ethnicity.
  3. Yes, it's what the RWD Celica and 240SX were years ago. It's an entry in a category Toyota and Nissan abandoned, as did Honda for the FWD sport compact category (i.e. no Prelude, no Integra, no RSX these days).
  4. I assume only his head is his, and the rest photoshopped..
  5. Yes, and they are clearly in two different categories...one a compact, one a midsize. Balthy of all people, as the oracle of all automotive historical knowledge, should know that the many categories have been around and expanding and contracting for decades...
  6. At one company, I had an optional form to self-identify my ethnicity for EEOC hiring or something...I wrote, 'English-Scottish-Welsh-Scots-Irish-Irish-Native American', which is, based on my research, an accurate description of my ethnicity. On a similar form elsewhere, I wrote, 'human', which is also accurate, I believe.
  7. It's a 2 seat sports car, different category from the 4 seat Genesis.
  8. Well, it is a legal occupation in some countries. 'sex worker' is the general category, like 'knowledge worker' is the category for my thing.
  9. No point in doing that if they are profitable. Plus, many of those brands (like Seat and Skoda) are sold in very few markets... it's not like GM; Porsche and VW Group are actually profitable.
  10. I suppose that is more of a hobby than an occupation. An occupation is something that leads to a paycheck and taxes, usually.
  11. I was joking about the armed robber, but when these guys are on the news, they always seem to be men. I wonder what they put down as 'occupation' on their 1040s... Not sure if it's an occupation, per se, more of a hobby or supplimentary income thing, like selling stuff on ebay. I would assume most armed robbers have a normal job, and do crime occasionally for supplimentary income.
  12. 'Caucasian' is a misnomer also..my ancestors certainly weren't from cental Asia.
  13. People keep missing the point. I've already said it twice. The Genesis is just that latest in the 'sport compact ' market, which had largely died out. They had 4 cylinders and V6s. Anyone remember the Celica or 240SX? Or the Prelude or for that matter, Hyundai's own Tiberon? Different market niche than the Camaro. GM and Ford have tried this market in the past, i.e. with the RWD Monza and Capri in the '70s, to the Probe and Beretta in the '80s-90s.
  14. Very little overlap, though, and many of the brands are premium or ultra premium niche brands.
  15. They can save money also by eliminating the chrome Impala badges. Just have the gold bowtie.
  16. I'm hooked... I've long been a fan of the magazine, and since I first got BBCAmerica on cable a few years ago, I've become hooked on the show, tiVoing every episode..some I've watched several times.
  17. Funny article. The Onion is great... I've long liked their articles, from their 'Area Man...' and 'Local Man..' stories, to their columnists, to their fake man-on-the-street comments. One of my favorite 'columnists' was Herbert Kornfeld, with his tales of his hardcore life in Accounts Recievable at Midstate Office Supply. I also like the Onion News Network videos with Doyle Redland.
  18. You aren't alone, I've known people that thought they were also. Both companies have a related origin in Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, and both companies have had close ties over the years, incl the occasional shared platform (like the Touraeg and Cayenne), and in Europe, the 914 was badged as a VW-Porsche. I remember US market advertising in the '70s for Porsche + Audi, they must have had some joint advertising or US operations then. 10 brands, eh? Seat, Skoda, VW, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti, and truck makers Scania and MAN (which are partially owned by VW Group, I believe).
  19. A friend of mine's wife was a Victoria's Secret salesperson when they met a few years ago. She's in telecom business sales now.
  20. Could be...but there are certainly occupations, though, even today, that are predominantly male (construction worker, armed robber, computer programmer /software engineer (there are certainly women, but it's a tiny percentage), or predominantly female...
  21. They will probably just change the decals to say 'Chevrolet', since the COT turd in NASCAR doesn't resemble anything real.
  22. I believe the first one is D, Justin Hawkins and the second is D, Michael Gambon (who was with Helen Mirren in the movie 'The Thief, The Cook, His Wife, and Her Lover'.
  23. Ah, cupholders.. don't know how I lived w/ out them in my older cars. My '80s Escort, Mustangs, Bronco II, never had them..I always had lame plastic clip on cupholders that stuck on door around the base of the window. My sister's Mercedes doesn't have 'em either...when I drive one of those cars and go to Starbucks I have to request a cup tray or drive home holding a cup in my hand, driving w/ one hand. I'm amazed it took so long for cupholders to become 'mandatory' in cars.
  24. Odd to see CR test these cars...I thought Corollas, Priuses, Civics, and other appliances were more to their taste.
  25. Yes, the GTO was in a different market... there should be room for both largish RWD V8 hefty 'musclecar' style coupes and smaller, RWD 4 cyl/ V6 sports coupes---different markets, different buyers. As I said before, the Genesis is an entry in a market niche Japan, Inc quit a while back..it's like the RWD Celica and 240SX of the past. Or the Prelude or Integra.
