  1. Sounds like severe incompetence..she should have been sterilised after the first 6...a bit absurd to have such large litters today...maybe in third world countries or in ancient times people needed large families, but not in modern America.
  2. By the way, 43 states are currently facing budget shortfalls: CNN Article: Recession has 43 states facing budget shortfalls
  3. And your point? Just tryin' to stir up trouble? A lot of states have budgetary problems right now...
  4. Yeah, nothing to do with the coasts... it's more of why winter sucks in the Rust Belt. Maybe because MA has a coast is why the original poster thought it had anything to do with the 'coasts'. Amusing little story, applicable to many places, but the thread title is wrong. It's more of an argument for the coasts, esp. the areas further south where the winters aren't disgusting.
  5. Got to go where the jobs are, though. Rural places suck for good jobs....have to be close to major metro areas for anything technical (unless you can do your work from home online or deal with a long commute).
  6. Ya, could easily be Ohio or PA or many other places in the Midwest/NE......Ohio has the rolling hills, valleys, fall colours, changing of the seasons, deer, rusty cars, beautiful scenery in the fall and spring...but Oct-March is often disgusting gray, cold, damp and snowy..this has been a particularly brutal winter back home so far.
  7. The first day I drove my Mustang to high school in 1987 I locked the keys in it...so embarrassing.
  8. I'm so used to keyless entry w/ fobs that I often forget and leave the old cars unlocked. Locking and unlocking the doors with a key is something I haven't done regularly for nearly a decade now...
  9. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the 4th gen GC.
  10. The new TL and current US Accord (and RL) have nothing in common visually. Platform sharing, not badge engineering. Not unlike GM and all their Epsilons. Honda/Acura's platform sharing and rebadging strategies are pretty much the same as GMs.
  11. ....likely to be replaced by nothing at all or more boring FWD models...ugh. A sad fate for Pontiac.
  12. This morning I saw an early '70s Ford custom van, very '70s style--pale yellow with green striping, bubble windows on the back sides, slotted mags, chrome side pipes. Groovy!
  13. I've got to go back to Original Pancake House some Saturday...they are an Oregon chain w/ a few stores around the West...great thick bacon, and many types of pancakes, incl.... bacon pancakes. Pancakes w/ bacon bits. Heaven.
  14. There is a really clean late '70s Skylark coupe around here that I see occasionally... within a few blocks of me, there is this car, 2 Novas, 2 Venturas (1 4dr, 1 2dr)....all in really decent shape for 30+ yr old cars.
  15. And Buick Governor. In CalIfornIa, it could be the Buick Governator..
  16. Ooooh...I got a good one, for the older Buick demographic---Buick Viagra.
  17. Hmm..that little turd might make a good small Chevy, below the Aveo. Or a Saturn.
  18. Yeah, I'm trying to think outside the box for something international and futuristic. Diplomat might be a good name if Dodge hadn't used it on such boring cars...it would fit with Accord...diplomacy, statesmanship, etc... Another name that's kind of out there that I like, that connotes quiet luxury is 'Serenity'. Not as comatose sounding as 'Placid'.
  19. LaCrosse. Lucerne. LaDeDa. How about 'Laguna'? Chevy hasn't used it 30+ years. Or Lacuna... something in New Mexico, IIRC. Lucene would have been good, but too close to Lucerne. Or how about Buick Strasse, the 'street'...plays up the Opel connection. For something futuramic sounding, I'd go out on a limb with something very bold, like Buick Zytor, or Buick Zygon. Haven't had any names beginning with 'Zy' that I can think of.
  20. Yeah, wasn't the last Skylark an N car, replaced by the underAchieva? A long time ago, it was a midsize, replaced by the Century in '73. Then a Nova clone. Then an X car..then an N car...
  21. Those people are kickin' it West Virginia style (lard land).
  22. I had 4 slices between a toasted sesame seed bagel for breakfast today. Had 4 slices between a couple pieces of toast a couple days ago, with bacon salt. Was good.
  23. Ideally, a model to compete with the 3-series in size and price. Buick isn't overtly sporty, more the comfort side of entry-lux, like Lincoln and lower-end Lexus. If Buick does bring back the Riviera name, it better be a 2dr...a 4dr Riviera would just be so wrong.
  24. Ah yeah...someone already set up a BlagoBlog to discuss all things Blago
