BMW 5-series GT: Don't call this concept an MPV
I meant the 6 hatch, not the 3.

BMW 5-series GT: Don't call this concept an MPV
Yeah, it could have been interesting if it had been lower and sleeker. For example, even though they were known for crapalicious build quality and reliability, I thought the Sterling 5dr hatchback was great looking. The Mazda6 5dr hatchback (which looks quite different from the Mazda6 wagon) looks great also, IMHO.

Noooo..the window part of the hatch is all slopey/slanty, much more so than the Magnum. 3dr or 5dr hatchbacks often have rooflines that could be called 'fastbacks' to use the '60s vernacular. Some hatchbacks, though, like the Golf, Mazda3, Focus, etc have more vertical hatches, but have less rear bodywork than a wagon/estate. Now a 3dr wagon (or shooting brake), is another animal all together.

Wagon. Just like there is a Golf 5dr and a Golf (Jetta) wagon. Wagons usually have a longer rear, and are more squared off than a hatchback. A hatchback version of the Magnum would be cool, though (with a slanted rear hatch and triangular quarter windows, something like the back of a Rover SD1).

Yes, but a 5dr hatchback has always been considered a distinct bodystyle from a wagon...wagons have a more vertical rear window and a longer roof, while a hatchback has a longer, more sloped rear window. Think of the 5dr Vectra vs a Vectra wagon. or a Focus 5dr vs. a Focus wagon. (I've never heard of anyone confusing wagons with hatchbacks)

The vertical part of the hatch sort of looks like the tailgate of the 1st gen X5... it would look sexy if it were a few inches lower and sleeker...but this is intentionally tall and practical...they are doing the same high H point thing Ford did with the Five Hundred, Taurus, etc.

Yeah, but those are wagons. This is a 5dr hatchback. Like the old Rover SD1. Or Ford Sierra (Merkur Scorpio).

Chicago 2009: Dodge Ram 3500HD
Of the current HD models, I like this Ram HD styling and the Sierra HD. The Silverado HD would look better without the strange bumper with huge chrome blocks on the corners. the Super Duty front end is hideous, IMHO, and the rest of it looks like a slight update of the '99 version.

Wow.... a RWD luxury 5dr hatchback. When was the last time something like that was built?

EYE CANDY
Speaking of Model As, there is a two-tone green 5-window coupe parked in fenced in lot downtown w/ a For Sale sign that I see everyday on the way home.

Therein lies the problem...if the Nano is a hit in India, the demand for oil will go up...

Testing the Most Significant Automobile of 21st Century
It's the Model T of this century, for mobilising India. If they could federalise it with airbags, etc this could be an entry level $5k car in the US. Could sell it here at Wal-Mart, as the Wal-Mart Sam's Choice or at Costco as the Costco Kirkland Generica.

VW MMS Official Sketch
The front fascia has strong '97 Camry cues IMHO, with a VW badge. Also some '10 Taurus also.

Too expensive in NA to be that, apparently

EYE CANDY
Went down a different street on the way downtown to work this AM...saw a small used car lot with a clean black '79-80 Pinto and a white AMC Eagle wagon. Turned the corner, and saw the greenhouse of a white early '50s stepdown Hudson in a fenced in lot behind a body shop..

W00t!

Officially Official: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO!
Yes..I'm wondering exactly what it will be... a variation of the next gen European model (not sure when that is due out) is what I'm assuming...

OK OK OK OK OK. We get it. We know Sixty Eight doesn't like FWD. That's established. End of story. DO YOU HAVE TO BLATHER ON ABOUT IT ALL THE D*MN TIME? It's as if you have Asperger's and run on and on about something all the time, repeating the same tired story. Or one of those crackpot conspiracy theorists that run around repeating the same thing over and over and over and over again. Please, for the sake of this community, and all humanity, give it a rest! North Dakota
So true..that's a big part of why I left the Midwest---it seemed to have no future when I graduated from college..very few people I went to school with stayed there, the Akron/Canton/Cleveland area was a decaying, dying wasteland of hopelessness in the mid '90s...that's why I love metro areas in the West, especially the Denver/Boulder areas--they embraced high tech in a big way, and the tech job market is still good there. Phoenix/Scottsdale is good also, but to a lesser extent...it's an area with potential for tech, but they have focused on real estate, golfing, etc for too long. Hot summers in AZ are one thing, but the winters in the Dakotas and upper Midwest are a whole 'nother level of disgusting and brutal... I couldn't imagine living there, Michigan and Ohio winters were bad enough.

Officially Official: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO!
Yeah, people have really dumbed down in the last 25-30 years. When I was a kid in the Rust Belt, probably 90% of the cars on the road were RWD. People didn't need FWD, they had snow tires and knew how to drive in the snow.

The truth about the 2004-2006 GTO
Spartan-Mask is a good description. On a similar theme, the current HD Silverado front end reminds me of Magneto's helmet (the bumper) and the Audi Q7 front end kind of reminds me of an 'Alien' head.. wierd how those things just jump out at you..

4 more BPG dealers close
4 Bay Area BPG Dealers close 4 GMC Pontiac Buick dealerships close Four GMC Pontiac Buick dealerships — in San Jose, Dublin, Newark and Colma — have abruptly closed their doors, as a fresh wave of shutdowns and consolidations roils the ranks of Bay Area auto dealers in the new year. About 100 employees lost their jobs because of the closing of Dublin Buick Pontiac GMC in Dublin and the shutdown of Fremont Pontiac GMC in Newark. Those East Bay operations closed Jan. 29. An unknown number of employees were affected by the shutdown of Colma Buick Pontiac GMC in Colma and the closing of Capital Buick Pontiac GMC in San Jose. All four dealerships were owned by the same group, led by retail entrepreneur Ken Okenquist. From San Jose Mercury News

Opel what?
My Jeep is pretty small though, only 4500lbs or so. It's ok.
