  1. I feel really old...I remember those ads. Ah, the excitement of an '80 Tercel.
  2. I have no idea what that pic represents...innards of an engine? Looks like camshafts, chains, and goo...
  3. Cool...
  4. Cool...my phone interview went well, probably will have an in-person w/ them next week. Hope to get a few more interviews in motion over the next couple of weeks. Update: later in the afternoon, confirmed the in-person interview for Monday afternoon. Got emails from other recruiters about 2 other positions..
  5. With my current client, I either have a job for A) 4 more hours, B) 1 week, C) 1 month, or D) unknown. My current contract was originally thru the end of March. But then two weeks ago, they told me that they had no more budget and that my contract would wind down this week. The same day, my contracting house emailed me that it had been extended until July 1. The next day, they came back and said through the end of February. Last week, they revised that to through today. Yesterday, the project manager said through the end of February. Who knows. The pay keeps getting direct deposited every Friday though.
  6. I've got a phone interview this afternoon... my current contract is winding down, back on the hunt again. Hope to get another gig going by April 1 or so.
  7. Or they will pat you on the back...as I've seen firsthand, there is tremendous peer pressure out there to buy Toyotas.
  8. Looks like the Tool dude--Maynard James Keenan-- who, like me, is from Ohio and lives now in Arizona.
  9. Mmmmm...ribbed for your pleasure and excitement. My car has gray ribbed cladding on the lower body, but a giant trapazoidal grille and a 3 pointed star hood ornament. 4800lbs, 121 inch wheelbase, 177k miles of gas guzzling V8 Teutonic commuter car...
  10. All this talk of Pontiacs really makes me want to own one... I'd love to have the garage space for a G8 GXP and a '71-72 Grand Prix...
  11. Whoa!!! What is that?? Never seen of one of those...tt's a Canadian version of the Chevy Spectrum? I was familiar with the Firefly and Tempest, but not this...incredible!
  12. Yes, sometimes, it can be a nice red brown, with the color and texture quite similar to the spicy curry I ate a few minutes previously.. or it can look like brown chocolate syrup, sprayed all over the walls and the ceiling of a restaurant bathroom. (Immodium usually prevents this, though). I never get tired of poo jokes, just watched the classic 'Brown Noise' episode of South Park again earlier in the week... (Alas, having a puppy and two older semi-housebroken dogs at home means I see a lot of poo).
  13. +1. Two Japanese hotties in an LS460hL with tinted windows. Or in a Century with the window blinds.
  14. Fun car...I've ridden a couple of them, one stock and one totally F&F style, w/ 600+ hp supposedly...fun, even with a neon green wiper. About the only Toyotas I've ever really liked were the original Supras, the angular '82-86 Supras, the last Supras, and a few Lexuses--the original SC and 2nd gen GS, in particular. I do like 4Runners and old Land Cruisers also.
  15. Heh-heh. I do think, though, that one of the reasons much of the world hates the US is poo envy--because of the typical American diet, we have the biggest and most explosive BMs of any country on average...
  16. Ah, Pontiac. The Excitement Brand <tm>.
  17. Only been one of those. The SRT-8 is pretty cool. I like the Overland trim also.
  18. Taken is on my to-see list. I usually like Besson's movies, and have always liked Liam Neeson.
  19. I've only seen two new movies in the theatre so far this year--'Gran Torino' and 'The International'. I've been a Clint fan since I was a kid in the late '70s watching his old Westerns w/ my Dad (and later the Dirty Harry movies). Gran Torino was very good, very well done, IMHO. Clint still is a powerful presence, even at 78. The International was a decent spy-type thriller, some good locations, Clive Owen as an Interpol agent up against a corrupt Swiss bank. Some upcoming movies I'm looking forward to are 'Watchmen', 'Duplicity', 'State of Play' (I liked the UK TV version, and this version has the always excellent Russell Crowe), and 'Angels and Demons' (I loved the book, and liked the 'DeVinci Code' adaptation)... As far as recent movies out on DVD, I've seen 'Lakeview Terrace' (Samuel L Jackson as the cop w/ issues next door), 'Body of Lies' (decent Middle East spy thriller w/ Leo DeCaprio and Russell Crowe) and 'Rocknrolla' (Guy Ritchie back w/ London gangsters, pretty good) in the last couple of weeks.
  20. <sarcasm> Well, Toyota doesn't do performance cars..and the public loves Toyota, and GM wants to emulate them... </sarcasm>
  21. Who knows, they could be Cherys!
  22. Interesting. This article gets me thinking of Saturn's old tag line: 'Saturn. A different kind of company. A different kind of car."
  23. I like it a lot also...looking forward to seeing it in person.
  24. So? It's wider..a Cadillac should be wider than a Chevy. What is your point??? The CTS was never intended to be a 3-series sized compact. It's price competitive with the 3, not size competitive. The CTS is a midsize, not remotely a 'large' car.
