  1. I'm disappointed... I'm a long time Merc fan, love the classic ones from the '50s up through the early '90s.... I like the current S-class, CLS, CLK, ML, the updated SL, but the C and now the new E just don't do it for me...and the GLK--blech!
  2. Ok...people misuse those terms so much that it drives me crazy some days.... but I'm happy today..some new interesting concept car pics to pore over, Barrett-Jackson is in a few days, the sun is shining, it's 65 degrees, watching the Steelers on TV...hope they can pull off a victory. Going to grill up some tandoori chicken later, found some naan at the grocery. Yumm...
  3. Probably didn't want to remind people of the stillborn ST.
  4. The only complaint I have is that I see a lot of Insignia in the front end detailing.
  5. I think a lot of the youth in the country are a bunch of lazy f*ckheads. I blame the parents.
  6. Yes...the body and most exterior detailing looks pretty much production ready, IMHO.
  7. Cool..hopefully, the cars will still be around on display later in week...I'm probably going Friday night or Saturday.
  8. Well, the '09 Ram was a big indication of Chrysler's improved execution, IMHO. Some of the detailing on that truck is very, very nice, IMHO, much nicer looking than the butt-ugly new Ford F150 or the disgusting Super Duty...
  9. Yes...had they executed it right, bold RWD models (add optional AWD for snowbelt whiners) for midsize and fullsize would have been a great differentiator for Mopar...a way to stand out in a world of mediocre FWD genericism.
  10. WOW. I love it..love the wheels, love the proportions... though the grille is too much like the Insignia. And, most important detail to me, RWD in a world of FWD generic mediocrity. 2 words: BUILD IT! Normalise the interior and drivetrain...
  11. Maybe they will do a Voltec version of this.... an electric MPV would be cool.
  12. I suspect GRWD is dead. I just can't see Ford making any more RWD models besides the Mustang.
  13. A friend of mine in grad school lived in our office for a couple semesters--he and I were student teachers i.e. research assistants, and shared an office w/ a couple others in the engineering complex..he would shower at the gym, etc. Since grad students kept weird hours, it wasn't strange to see him asleep on the couch in the office at 3 am. Eventually, he moved into the basement of the house I was renting w/ 3 other grad students. Fun times back in the day.
  14. Meh...same old generican sh*t they've had for a few years now with some trivial nose/tail trim differences. Vanilla as ever.
  15. I like the 'Voltec' name for the propulsion system, Toyota has Hybrid Synergy Drive, Honda has IMA. Voltec fits nicely with GM's Ecotec and Vortec engine naming schemes. As others said, I definitely see some Gallardo in the proportions, with Art & Science styling....pretty slick package. The future is going to be bright, I just hope their is a future for the Detroit 3...
  16. It's not a BADGE JOB, it's PLATFORM SHARING. Two different concepts. When will people ever learn that????
  17. Converj, eh? It's pretty interesting....definitely futuristic. Quite dramatic from behind.
  18. Well, this a small family car in some markets... for a couple with an infant or two. In other parts of the world, families don't buy full size SUVs or minivans to haul around their rug rats.
  19. If gas goes up to $5 or $6/gallon, it might take off...
  20. Short of a convertible being available, I'd have to go for a loaded SS with all the goodies and a manual.
  21. Hmm...Acuras now have the bold shield grille... Buicks have a tri-shield badge. Maybe they could replace the waterfall grille with a giant tri-shield to do battle with Acura..
  22. I'm liking the shape.. in the article it says "Ford lowered the roof and raised the car's shoulder line "...the greenhouse and profile remind me of a sleeker Chrysler 300.
  23. I have yet to make it that far north.... I've been to the UK 5 times since '00, but only in England (mostly London and the SE)...I want to explore Northumbria, Snowdonia and Scotland eventually....I've been watching Top Gear, Rick Steves travel shows, reading Fodors and Frommers guides for my Europe fix lately.. There's an episode of Top Gear on my TiVo from last Spring where Clarkson drives a Jag XK convertible along the coast somewhere in Scotland...incredible scenery. This house in the highlands would make a great vacation home, if I could get broadband, and have a Land Rover Defender...
  24. I'd love be in London, Cardiff, the Welsh countryside, Yorkshire, most anywhere in the UK right now, out of dull-ass Phoenix..
