VW News: Volkswagen Still Committed to Diesel
Drew Dowdell replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Volkswagen
It's a 2.0T... that's the size of diesel they've been running for years. The way they got it this clean was by putting two scrubbers in instead of just one. Yes, it uses DEF. I hope they do too.... I like variety in the car market.- 8 replies

Indeed.. sometimes Denali is just some extra chrome and embroidery. I don't think it needs the full ZR2 treatment, but at least everything on All-Terrain plus a little lift kit and some recovery hooks. I wonder what they'll do for Yukon. I can't see them lifting that. Terrain I expect to be just a sticker and blackout package.

Lincoln News: Pair of EVs Spells Death For Continental
Drew Dowdell replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Lincoln
I hope they just keep building it in China and importing it here... mostly in the more premium trims. -
This isn't a family hauler... this is more Airport Shuttle / Hotel Shuttle. One hour recharge to 80% is good for these.

Actually, you're right.... but it's primarily because they don't offer the diesel in a single cab classic. (All configurations FCA??) Pricing for the Ram 1500 Classic EcoDiesel (Crew Cab 4x2) starts at $39,140, plus destination. which is about $3k more than a Tradesman with an EcoDiesel.
-
It's not even all that cheap, but its cheaper than the new Ram 1500.
-
I'm sure there was no extra development cost. The previous version of the engine was already in the Classic Ram anyway. They're selling the classic for an indefinite period, so it could be 2 or 4 more years before it finally gets retired.

There's not much to show of it, but GMC announce that the GMC Canyon AT4 would be coming in early 2020 at an event in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The AT4 package is a ruggedized look that falls between the SLT and Denali in GMC's lineup. Right now, AT4 is only available on the GMC Sierra 1500, Sierra HD, and the 2020 GMC Acadia. On the Acadia, the AT4 package is simply an appearance package. On the Sierra, it actually adds a 2-inch lift kit in and red recovery hooks. GMC has promised that every vehicle in the lineup will get an AT4 package (though we doubt that is true for the Savana), leaving the Terrain, Canyon, and Yukon as the holdouts. The AT4 package on the Canyon is interesting because GMC already offers the All-Terrain package which adds an off-road suspension, transfer case shield, hill descent control, and all-terrain tires among the visual updates. For 2020, the All-Terrain package will be dropped and replaced with AT4. The Chevy Colorado offers an off-road version in the ZR2 trim, but there is no equivalent for the GMC. It could be that GMC is planning the AT4 to be more than the current All-Terrain, but not quite to the level of a ZR2. View full article

Following the Concept EQV at the Geneva Auto Show back in March, Mercedes-Benz has pulled the wraps off the production version ahead of the Frankfurt Auto Show coming up in September. The Mercedes says that the EQV will have a range of about 250 miles and rapid charging from 10 percent to 80 percent of the 100 kWh battery in less than one hour. Interior space is not compromised as the battery is stored under the floor of the vehicle. Drivers can control the recuperation levels with paddles behind the steering wheel, with the strongest setting being akin to braking allowing single pedal operation. The drive unit is a 204 horsepower / 267 lb-ft of torque motor that drives the front wheels. Top speed is said to be 99 mph. Passengers can expect a lounge like interior with EQ specific décor and the MBUX infotainment system. Two wheelbases will be available. Sales in the US are an unknown at this time, but with the threat of tariffs looming, we highly doubt it. The only EV that Daimler offered in the US is the Smart Fourtwo, but that model and brand will be departing the US for China after 2019. View full article
