Yes. Because the valve train design path has nothing to do with power train refinement. The Corvette can be very quiet and it's actually tuned with a sporting mind. It has active exhaust to make things louder when you're having fun.

The Corvette engine would be absolutely fine no matter what SMK says... it is quiet and refined, even in the Vette.

Learning The Dark Arts Of Driving A Manual Transmission
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Opinion
Didn't GM develop a drop-in replacement for R12 that didn't require a full conversion? It was supposed to be fantastic stuff.... I need to look into that.- 30 replies

The LTS will have an 8-speed.... the CTS has one and the Escalade will too. I've driven the Escalade, I'm not worried about the interior, it's superior to the Range Rover at this point (which I drove the next day)

2014 Nissan Altima (updated) , 2013 Nissan Altima SV
Drew Dowdell replied to regfootball's topic in Reader Reviews
The biggest issue is the 2.5 liter. Fixing that (by a complete replacement) would fix most of your complaints about the powertrain. Nissan should do something like a DI 1.8T with a light turbo on it instead. -
It could be a Bentley Continental rebadged as a Cadillac and SMK would still complain.

The C-Class feels like a baby S-Class in many ways... and "weight and inertia" is one of them. Again, not saying that is a bad thing, but those looking at sporting cars will not likely be satisfied. I happen to like the S-Class feel, so the C-Class appeals to me there. The ATS is still the nimblest dancer of these three. Yes the 3-series sells on reputation alone... but that doesn't mean it is really the best car with it's stale interior design, "will they ever think of something new?" exterior, and huge weight gain/handling feel loss over older years. The Corolla has changed more in 25 years than the 3-series has.

I don't think they even re-engineered it... it's just different snap in pieces that are a more subdued shape and painted body color.

August 2014: Mazda North American Operations
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in 2014 Sales Archive
Indeed. They may pass VW in US sales at some point. If "Red Alert" hasn't been sounded somewhere in VW's headquarters yet, that should do it.- 4 replies

I had my '81 done for $100 and that included the leak test. It didn't need anything but the charge (but hey, you'd need a recharge too after 30 years)- 30 replies

Yeah, but my point was that the AV would some with that body hardware regardless of whether it was a Z71 or not. The WBH Av was a Lutz change that was made starting in mid-2004 for people who didn't like the cladding (he did the same with the Aztek)

I drove the ATS Coupe and 4-series the same day. The differences are largely academic and the only negative I see on the ATS is the fairly plain instrument panel, but the 3/4ths-Series isn't going to be winning any design innovation awards either. The ATS trumps the 4-series in "added-lightness" and feels more nimble in the corners even though the curb weights are about the same. I also prefer the steering feel in the ATS. I drove both the C300 and C400 as well.... fantastic cars, but they've grown in size quite a bit to where they feel 98% of the last CTS in size and don't feel at all sporting. That isn't a bad thing, but when the goal in this segment is "sporting feel", the C-Class doesn't fit that at all. On a long trip, I would prefer the C-Class over the ATS by a hair.... but if I am looking for spirited driving, I'll stick with the MRC in the ATS.

But that was only on the Tahoes I guess... The Avalanche and 'Burban Z71 didn't look any different

Don't convert. R12 can be had cheap. It will never be as cold if you convert.- 30 replies

I drove a $50k ATS 4-cylinder today... And the turbo 4 is a better overall experience due to balance.

Hyundai News:Spying: Next Hyundai Equus Makes Its First Appearance

Why benchmark against a vehicle that feels 20 years old in design? At least use the S-Class as the benchmark, it's the newest of the big guys. -

There are better rebates available on the Sierra depending on your configuration though. I"m trying to decide if I'm going to attempt to do video on the truck or not. It is a time thing since I won't have any assistant with me. -
