Linkypoo Haynes manual. Includes ste-by-step overhaul instructions. On something old and RWD (like your GM or my Buick) I imagine the toughest part would be getting the transmission out, unless you happen to have transmission jack and the ability to get your car far enough off the ground to get it out. I'm seriously considered rebuilding mine.

Go drive any car with 1/4 inch wide tires on a sheet of ice and tell me its not exciting.

If you think you can do the work yourself, the rebuild kit for that transmission is about $100 at AutoZone.

I'm incapable of wearing gloves. In fact, I dont own a pair. So going outside when its 7F and the wind is blowing to scrape the ice off my car just killed my hands. I've had the skin break in 3 different places on my right hand and 2 on my left. The woman at Wal-Mart probably thought I have a severe masturbation habit when I came through with just a giant bottle of lotion.
