  1. Really and truly I'd love to see lots of vehicles built off the Zeta platform.
  2. I'm thinking of getting a Lab, or maybe a Retriever once we get our remodel in order and get a place on the land set up for a dog (22.5 acres of mostly woods and no real fence lines are not dog-friendly), and I have no intention of going to a pet store for one. The pound is bound to have one for me, or the local rescue shelters...I just don't agree with pet stores selling dogs....too much can happen behind the scenes with them. Now if I get something like a goldfish, then I'll probably hit the local pet store, but they are a completely diffrent story.
  3. I would have to agree with everyone else. If you want something that will more than likely give you more trouble than its worth, then the Jag will be for you. I wouldn't drive one simply because of the electrical issues that are well known with all Jags. Kinda like a lot of Caddys from the 90s, I wouldn't own one simply because of the electrical gremlins. I'd take a '60s-80s full-size GM all day long, without a single complaint, and in fact the only reason I haven't is because I haven't found one in the price range I'm looking for and the shape I'm looking for. 90% of the ones around here that I'd be even remotely interested in buying have already been dicked up from one end to the other and I wouldn't have the time to put into it to make it up to my qualifications. I'm all about older cars, especially when I see them, kinda like the 64-ish Pontiac Grand Prix that's down the street from my parents, only reason I haven't put my hard earned money down on it is simply because no one lives on the property, and I wouldn't feel 100% right about coming in there in the middle of the night and hauling it off (besides, if it were my luck.....I'd get caught).
  4. I wouldn't say I'm complaining. I know that the G8 would more than satisfy my requirements for a good family ride. I just wanna see the other stuff that's exciting too, aside from the excellent things like the Camaro, G8, CTS coupe, ect..... I want to see EVERYTHING from GM be exciting like it used to be.
  5. yeah, you basically pull off the seat bottom (normally just will pull out) and the battery will be pretty much just sitting there, fat and happy.
  6. I have to agree with Camino, and FOG, and everyone else here. I'm an enthusiast, I want something that will meet my specs, and I want it from GM. If that means that I'll have to buy old and restore, then that's what I have to do, but I'd much prefer to buy something new from them. I'm pretty simple to please, I want something that is RWD, has a V8 powerplant available, a manual transmission also available, and be able to seat me and the family if I want. I know that the G8 will meet most of those requirements, but I also want to see other things from GM, I don't want cookie cutter. I know that right now I can be considered a hypocrite since I currently own both a w-body and a Cobalt (can't remember the architecture she's built on), but that's simply because that's all I could find at the time to choose from that wouldn't have ruined the parking book.
  7. I have to say that I'm glad that I haven't had to work on anything that requires removing a tire to gain access to someting as mundane as the battery or oil filter. I mean pulling the tire to get to the altenator, or some other engine component, yeah, but not to just change the damned oil. Kinda like the biggest complaint about the motorcycle I'm going to get is that I'll have to pull one of the exhaust pipes off to change the oil, but at the same time, if I'm changing the oil, I might as well clean it up too, which means with the pipe off I can clean and polish it better, so I guess that it isnt' such a bad thing.
  8. I know that going to a funeral might mean a lot to mom and dad, but so should those tests and if you have to make up as much as you say you do, then you are going to have to study your tail off.
  9. hey if we wanna talk about the dream hangar. I've got a list that you could gawk at a while... I'll just narrow it down to a few for right now. P-47D Thunderbolt P-38L Lightning F-4E Phantom II F-15E Strike Eagle A-10A Thunderbolt II (or as almost everyone knows it, the Warthog) B-52H Stratofortress B-1B Lancer AH-64D Longbow Apache UH-1N Iroquois (aka the Huey) that'd about sum the dream hangar up. Oh yeah, and a Cessna 182RG
  10. a tire just shouldn't go under the hood unless its an old bug...
  11. Sounds like a good buy, although you could just find the brake pad sensors and put them on the existing pads, if they aren't worn too bad.
  12. I really gotta agree with KC on this one. If it was just an aquaintance, then a card and some flowers would be appropriate, even if your parents want you there. You've got tests to study for and a good education to get, and if they care about it, then they'll let you hang back
  13. Well keep us informed on what it is, or what decision comes from it.
  14. Hey lookit, I was wrong!!!
  15. I've got a disinfecting spray at work that's purported to kill HIV, shall I bring it and allow it to be used?
  16. ahh, after a night of tornadoes, bad wind, and thunderstorms all's clear down here on the southern front, although being out on the front deck when the tornado siren goes off literally right across the street from you still kinda leaves the ears ringing.
  17. You know, I have the perfect vehicle to tow something like that with. Its 31 years old, makes lots of power, and well...it won't ever have the tailgate deform, the u-joint fail unexpectedly, OR the camshaft snap...
  18. You know, its kinda scary, no one commented on the fact that part of my garage would contain the second largest cargo aircraft on the face of the planet....
  19. good to know that they're going to be here soon, so at least I can keep my eyes open for the parents. As far as things are concerned, right now they're at a standstill. My mom slipped down the steps on wednesday morning and broke her knee (or at least a bone in it, along with some other damage), so she's going to have to have surgery (this'll be slice and dice #3 on this knee) on wednesday (day after tomorrow). So any an all car hunting for them is out. As far as colors, either the Jewel Red tintcoat, or the Midnight Blue (I think). Interior is probably going to be the Titanium cloth (parents are NOT leather seat people). Only real options that have been said to me is the lumbar adjustment for my dad (his back isn't in the best shape), the 40/20/40 split bench, and the color selections. I haven't see him build any more options into the car that would warrant me mentioning (except for the hypothetical ones). Overall, my mom and dad are pretty simple to shop for vehicle-wise, although the sales guy at the dealership here seemed to think that I didn't know what my parents wanted even though I practically had a handwritten list from them as far as what options and colors and like that they wanted. I'll do my best to keep this updated as new information comes in. I'm definitely going to be looking for a G8 once they hit the market officially, because I know that my dad would love to have a RWD car again, and I"m thinking that the G8 will be a perfect opporitunity for him to get that wish. If not, then I know that they will be happy with the Buick also.
  20. Now, that is one I haven't heard of before.
  21. I'm in no way hating on the car. I like the G-body and I could find one that wasn't either beat beyond recognition or gangsta-fied, believe me, there'd be one in the driveway right now. I have more affection for the B-body cars, but if I could find a good G-body, I damned sure wouldn't pass one up. I wouldn't offer 20-grand for it, but I wouldn't pass it up.
  22. I know that the wife's Cobalt has the battery located in the trunk. My batter in the Impala is still under the hood, but I'm fairly certain that the next ride I have won't have the battery there.
  23. Well, the stories in here bring back a memor from college. Friend of mine in the dorms owned a '72 SS350 Chevelle, I of course own the blue beast in my signature. We also have a mutual friend whom brews certain products containing a high concentration of alcohol for "medicinal purposes". Any way we slice it, you take the 20-gallon fuel tank of my truck, add 3/4 of the tank full of 'shine, the rest gas, and the same concentration for the Chevelle. After making sure that everything was kosher, we head out and do the normal goof off routine for a saturday night in college (go cruise the strip, hit the bowling alley, play a little poker, call it a night). Well we get up to the light, I'm in the far right lane, Jeff (friend with the Chevelle) is in the far left lane, and Mr. Rice himself pulls into the center. By rice, I mean we're looking at a 1997-ish Honda Accord with full body kit, underglow, interior glow, rims tires, twin fart cannons hanging out the tail, all that jazz. So we're waiting for the light and he revs his 2.2 in the Accord. No big deal, me and Jeff slam the throttles down in our rides (both 350 powered, both cammed, carbed, and ready to race) and when we let off, both of our rides are boiling blue and white flames from the exhaust. Light changes, little Accord pulls out ahead for about a fender length. The Chevelle and my truck come into our powerbands and we blow by him like he was in reverse, white flames shooting from the exhaust and the sound of sixteen cylinders bellowing from four exhaust pipes. Later in the evening we get to the bowling alley. Mr Rice is there with his girlfriend (whom was in the car, but we didn't know). Once she see's Jeff pull up in the 'Velle, she immediately ditches Mr. Rice and becomes a permenant show piece for him. I just laughed and preceded to wipe the floor with Mr. Rice after he gave me a none to friendly shove.
  24. Main reason is that so brain-damaged individual can take it, jack it up, and put the biggest donks he can on it... that's the only reason why someone would even want it for down here. And with the factory rims and tires on it like yours has, it would free up the possibility for someone to raise it the proper way (other than slapping spring stiffeners in it).
  25. Another reason batteries have started to be moved into the passenger compartment and trunk is that you have less of a chance for the battery to get cooked by underhood temps (which heat is the biggest enemy to a battery's life anyway), and it also helps cut down on limitations posed by not exactly huge underhood space. Just make sure that any battery that IS under a seat has any and all vents to the outside free and clear. The last thing you want is to have the battery vent into the passenger compartment.
