  1. Camino, I have to say that its one of those things that kidna makes you twitch (in all the wrong ways) when you even think about it.
  2. I know that I'm normally not one to go and post things that would likely turn someone's stomach, but I've got to say this one. On the drive home this afternoon I was witness to an accident. This was a pretty bad one, Peterbilt 379 vs new Mustang. I've had basic first-responder training, and it happened about 30 seconds before I really arrived on scene but it was still bad. Looks like the Mustang ran the light, or was the last car in the line to turn and thought she could make it, but either way you slice it, 80,000-lb Pete doing 55mph through the green broadside into a new 'stang isn't going to be just a fender patch and move on. The truck driver was pretty badly frazzled nerves-wise, so I kinda left him alone. The problem came when the Mustang caught fire. The woman driving was trapped inside, all I could really do was talk to her and try to keep her calm and from going into shock. While others called for help I did my best to find a way into the car. Needless to say you guys can imagine what happened....car on fire, occupant trapped inside, EMS and fire at least 10 minutes away and the fire extinguisher in the Pete didn't do a damned bit of good. I've never seen something like that happen before and I don't think I'd ever want to see something like that again. Y'all, I've normally got a rock-solid stomach, but when this was all over, I had to go over to the side of the road and just hurl.....it was pretty gruesome. And I don't really blame myself, there was nothing I could do, I couldn't get into the car, and I didn't have anything to put the fire out...but I just feel like I could have done something more...
  3. mak, I guess you could say that I'm a bit weird when I say, yeah, I would pay 220 for a blender, if my needs called for it, but since I have no reason to need a blender, I don't actually own one.
  4. Lynyrd Skynyrd "Freebird" *finds a lighter a flicks it*
  5. dwight I was arguin the civility of the engine. I know that the engines can easily be made smooth no matter how many cylinders you put into the block, just as your other data suggests, I'm just saying that he Cobalt seems a little too big/heavy for a 3 cylinder. The Aveo would be a better candidate for such a powerplant, but again, that's just my thought process and sometimes its flawed (can't help it, I'm human).
  6. Oooooh, and a classic Bob Seger "Like A Rock" *can hear announcer guy in his head "The Longest Lasting, Most Dependable Trucks...Chevrolet"*
  7. Beautiful cars, I have to admit that the older Chrysler stylings are absolutely great.
  8. eh, I don't flip them off, I cut them off, simply because I know that new Tundras ESP isn't going to work, or hell if I'm behind them, the camshaft or U-joint might fail unexpectantly and then my Impala will get Toyota cooties all over it. Its good to see the GM outsold them, and it doesn't matter if it was by just one car or truck, its still the win.
  9. I can't either, but you know, fuzzy math fixes everything.
  10. Hmm, so its the driver's fault....yeah, I don't really see that being true since they've used this particular bend countless times before and not had this problem. How about its jst your shoddy damned product.
  11. This really doesn't surprise me, Opel has had a longer tradition in racing then Lexus has ever, so why not steal one, and reskin it. Like Olds said, Lexus is pursuing Opel

  13. Yes, they do, but lets admit it, if they did, it would be too much like right.
  14. Yeah, try to take my guns from me....
  15. Well, I enjoyed reading that bit of news. I still say that it is sad that there will be no Zeta-based Impala, but that is one horse that has already been beaten, and beaten, and beaten, so I won't go any futher. Thanks for the info!
  16. It would probably be a good idea for those to whom a lease would be attractive. One of the main reasons for a lease is for those people who want something new often. Kinda like the wife, she's got a Cobalt, its got like two years left on the lease and once its over with, she's going to want something new, and it'll probably be a lease too simply because she doesn't want a long-term vehicle purchase. Meanwhile I'm the opposite, I tend to buy a vehicle for the long term. I still say it'd be a good idea to bring more people into the GM fold as long as the used car isn't a lemon and put a bad taste in someone's mouth.
  17. well, I've thought for a long time that we should have term limits on those in congress and legislature and people laugh at me, but look at those members of government that have essentially been there since they were in daipers. C'mon, if we can only have a president for two terms, then why not have the other elected members of government be pu to the same standard. I try my absolute best to buy American even if the product is $10.00 more, I really don't care, I'd rather buy it from an American company. That's why I buy GM cars and trucks, and stuff like New Balance shoes, because they are American (and quite frankly, they last a hell of a lot longer). I don't go around and call people names at the gas pumps when I see them pull up in their Japanese, Korean, or European import. Give them a dirty look, yeah, I've been know to, but outright call them names, no. I know that people have a choice to buy whatever they want, but sheesh, I just wish that people would put a little more thought into the long-term when it comes to what they buy. Consider this, you buy an imported product, say it cost you $15,000.00, and you also had the choice to buy a like American product for 15,650.00, which one would you buy? Most people are cheapskates which means they'll pocket the $650 and go for the imported product. What they don't see is that when it comes time to repair/replace said product, then they're going to spend more, and sooner. Or I guess consider this personal experience, I buy New Balance shoes, I've bought others, but I prefer NBs. Why? They last longer, and they're made here. I can take a pair of Nikes, or anything else, hell even a cheap pair of Wal-Mart shoes, and they'll be EXTREMELY lucky to last me a year. Meanwhile I buy a pair of NBs and I've not had them last me LESS than 3 years, they cost damn near the same, I wear them the same, so which one do you think I'll be buying again? Same thing goes with other purchases, people should look at the long-term costs associated with their purchases rather than what they're paying on the front side.
