    Chrysler Surprises Dealers With Next-Gen Charger, Barracuda, Grand Cherokee Trailhawk


    • Fiat Chrysler Dealers Are Given A Sneak Peek Into The Future of the Company

    Fiat Chrysler Automobile held their annual dealers meeting in Las Vegas and had some surprises in store for the dealers who attended.

     

    Automotive News learned from several dealers that FCA would possibly be bringing out up to 30 new or refreshed products within the next two years. Some of the products include the next-generation Dodge Charger which will look more like the 1999 concept designed by Tom Gale, and a Dodge Barracuda convertible. Both models will be underpinned by the Alfa Romeo Giulia's platform.

     

    Other models that were shown to dealers include,

    • An Alfa Romeo SUV which is expected to be underpinned by the Giulia's platform
    • The standard and Abarth versions of the Fiat 124 Spyder
    • Next-generation Jeep Wrangler which was described by one dealer as staying "pretty true to its current form'
    • Jeep Grand Wagoneer SUV with seating for eight people
    • Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk

    Well lets see if they get to them in two years. Many of these products have already been pushed back before. With Sergio's goals for units at Alfa and other brands that are at some crazy numbers it could change these plans too. 68K units to 400K units at Alfa by 2018? Not likely.

    I am not sure Jeep and Ram can help fund all the changes he has already planned and these unless he changes his numbers again.

     

    The real issue may be the engines. If the stories on the Jeep web site are correct the Hemi is gone by 2019. That matches the end of the LX too the last I saw. They plan to replace it with a Turbo V6 and Turbo 4 cylinder models. While I have no doubt about there not being a lack of power this will still sting the V8 customer hard. To go from a Hellcat to a V6 that sounds like the Alfa motor that has a school bus sound to it?

     

    I have concerns here.

     

    Not sure even how an plug in Mini Van will do. Minivans are really over anymore and the CUV is where the sales are all going.

    I love that 1999 Charger concept, but that I hope the Giulia platform to house a 1999  Charger concept look-a-like better be a stretched version, because the Giulia looks to be too short for that 1999 Charger...especially if FCA wants to get the right proportions to really make it resemble the 1999 concept. That 1999 concept is a long car....

     

    And Im stoked for the return of a Barracuda. It says convertible...so Im guessing a Dodge Barracuda would be the convertible version of the next generation Challenger?

    Im OK with that...

    The link above states that the Barracuda will be offered in coupe and convertible form and will be smaller than the Challenger....

     

    Im still OK with that.

     

    Im stoked with the new Charger...hopefully it will be as long or longer than the current generation and less bulky...more slender...like the concept...with the same proportions...that 1999 Charger concept is pure Americana...I miss those days when all American cars cars looked more or less like that....sleek and slender long cars with long hoods and short decks....and sometimes long hoods and somewhat short decks...but still technically longish decks...if you know what I mean...

     

     

    About the V8 part...I wish it would be a part of the Mopar mainstream performance card...but the way the automotive industry is going....I wont hold my breath....and if I continue living in Montreal (gas prices are high in Quebec)....I doubt Ill be a customer of a V8 car anytime soon either...

    They already are...the next hemi 5.7 will be released with the trucks and the new SRT V8 will be with the new Charger/Challenger/Durango. Helps when you are part of the dealergroup getting this information.

    As soon as the Giulia hit the ground I said that Mopar would need to ride the crap outta the thing to make it work. Thankfully, they are. GM showed the way with Alpha, and the approach is ready-made for an outfit with a performance rep like Mopar. Good news.

    I see the V8 becoming less an option on the regular models. For SRT no...Ralph has made it clear to us SRT owners and Dealer Networks this is NOT the plan. However...caveat being all plans can change of course.

    HA!  Of course hyperV6 STILL finds issue since he clearly simply hates the brand and WANTS it to fail.  This is all good news, as already predicted so no surprise.  And a refreshed Hemi is already in the works, though I agree it may become less of an option in lower models.

    Also, the Alfa's platform should be flexible like GM's Alpha, allowing different wheelbases and engine and transmission configurations.

    Why would they not be?  Sales have increased every month for what, the last 5 years?  They also beat Ford in retail sales in june, so again, a haeful comment just to be a hateful comment.

    Chrysler does have a lot of good names.  Not always great products, but they come up with great names.  Intrepid, Stealth, Barricuda, Charger, Challenger, Imperial, Avenger, Prowler, Viper, etc.  They all sound big, scary or dangerous. 

    Right now they have a lot of great product and have in the past as well.  Everyone has duds, even Mercedes.......

    Stew you had better get a grip and understand I do not hate Chrysler but I do hate Sergio and all that he Is doing as he is a bastard and cares less about the Chrysler cars.

     

    The money he is taking from Jeep should be going to Chrysler not Alfa as this is where his volume is that he needs to survive. Instead he remains to pump it into the odd Alfa that will never meet his goals of 400,000 units by 2018.

     

    Now be honest do you really think Alfa can move from 68,000 cars last year to 400,00o by 2018? If you can honestly think that you would have to be a fool.

    FCA is riding with a major debt and Sergio needs money. He already is robbing Chrysler and now has made claims wants GM. It is all about money to save his F part of the corporation and he is getting desperate now because his plan has fallen flat as the rest of the investment and banking people are not willing to follow along with him.

     

    Right now I fear that while the plans for Chrysler sound promising they are the last roll of the dice. If they do not execute these plans an build class leading cars the will not have the income to continue on beyond them. Just building better cars than you have Is not enough as they need to build better than anyone else right now to make real gains in not just volume but profits.

    Ford and GM can get buy with a little less right now but Chrysler has some real issues. I think their only hope is to lose Sergio and get someone in that is really from the automotive segment.

    Stew you can continue to represent my feelings but you can not change the things and issues that lie ahead. I am in no way looking forward to saying I told you so in the future if this ends up going the way it appears to be going at this time. I pray Sergio is let go in 2018 and not extended to 2020 as he wants. As Peter has pointed out he is nothing but a bag man and he will kill Chrysler in the end to save the Euro brands. He has no love other than their money for them. You had better wake up to this before it is too late.. Only cries from the base market Chrysler lovers may changes this if it is not already too late.

    As Pete has pointed out FCA is one economic down turn from another crisis. With the way Wall St is going that could easily happen again and they will still be years from the new product. The problem this time is there may not be a third bail out as how much money is a politician going to be willing to toss in to this bottomless pit under the present management?

    I hope and pray that a suitable leader arrives in time for Chrysler. God knows we have already lost too many brands today as it is. While Chrysler is not my first choice I in no way want to see their demise. You need to get that through your thick diluted skull. I am on your side with reality playing a part of this. I know you hate to hear the truth but that is all that will save a brand like this from Sergio and he thieving ways.

    Even the folks I know inside are not Sergio fans up in Auburn hills. He talks big but they are not feeling the needed love like they would like unless you are Jeep. Even then the money is not coming back to them at a time they would like to have it. The can just keeps getting kicked down the road on most other products.

    Now stand there and tell us do you really thing Sergio is smart for pumping all of Jeeps profits into Alfa and not Chrysler first? Who has a better shot at increasing volume and profits to the levels he needs faster than Chrysler? He needs to increase Alfa to numbers they can never attain and he needs to find 2.5 Million more FCA units and that is not easy under the most perfect conditions by 2018

    Now can you honestly say that he will attain the goal of 400K Alfa cars and 2.5 million more FCA units by 2018? Now put down the bias Kool-Aid and say it with a straight face?

    This is more than just about selling cars. Everyone can sell cars but it is about making money and the big picture of volume and profits. You can sell a lot of cars but with no profits and models that are just termed better but not even in the same sentence with the top 4 in the segment are not the path to success. This is Why GM went and fixed the Malibu as fast as they did and will work hard to make it the best or one of the best in the segment. The last car was not bad but it fell short of the top cars and that is no way to make money these days. Just be good is no longer good enough. Chrysler is may have some of the best cars they have had in years but that is no longer good enough.

    If Lee was here he would have kicked Sergio's ass back to Italy.

    You and everyone else like me know that Sergio is an Idiot and he is killing Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram all for trying to bring back a dead brand. Money should be used to pump up the 4 American name plates and not Alfa.

    More than anything this is his way of socialism in trying to make jobs for lazy people in Europe at the expense of america.

    What's all the nonsense about Sergio threatening a hostile takeover of GM? I can't see how that would work. GM is a bigger company whose shareholders should be well aware that they would stand to gain nothing from an FCA merger. It would essentially be reforming old GM, complete with dying brands.

    I think the merger with GM idea is insane, BUT I see a reason or Alfa.  See that new Charger and Cuda?  They wouldn't have been able to make these without an expensive Alfa to put that platform under.  it makes sense.

      The company, US Specialty Vehicles which has built many a trick auto for movies as well as building special lines to sell to the public just outdid FCA.  In 2015 this company showed off this Rhino XT version which is available for sale with the V6 powertrain on their web site. For the latest Fast and Furious movie, they went out of this world crazy and built this unit with the Hellcat engine. Now the company has informed the public that they too can order up the Rhino XT Hellcat edition and have what has been seen on the silver screen. Yet if a 707 HP wrangler is too much for you and the base V6 is not enough you can always opt for their Supercharger Package on the V6. This takes you from the basic 285 HP by adding roughly 1/3 more power to motivate those 35" tires.
      The V6 edition starts at $80,735. They also have the Sport edition and the premium edition packages.

      Jeep Easter Edition Moab Utah
      The 51st Easter Jeep Safari in Moab Utah is taking place this week and Jeep has a slew of working concepts that will be on the trail all week long for people to drool over according to the story at USA Today!
      To quote the story:
      "Go fast and look good ... and if you're not smiling, get out," said Mark Allen, head of Jeep design, as walked around the hot rod Jeep Quicksand, which was "built for sand dunes."
      The roar from the Quicksand's Mopar 392 Crate Hemi engine with eight-stack injection drew smiles and stares. But one of the cooler features on the Quicksand was ornamental — a clear acrylic gear shifter knob with a Jeep Matchbox suspended inside.
      The other Jeeps were decked out, too.
      Love their Cocktail which was built based on 3 different generations of the wrangler.

      The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has been one of the worst-kept secrets in the past few years. Thanks the numerous spy shots and rumors over the past couple of years, we have gotten a good idea of what's in store. It doesn't hurt that Jeep's CEO Mike Manley confirmed this last year. Before the New York Auto Show kicks off this week, Jeep has finally unveiled the details on what they call "The Most Powerful and Quickest SUV Ever".
      Let's get to the specifications first:
      Supercharged 6.2L V8 - 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque Upgraded Eight-Speed Automatic and all-wheel drive system to handle this immense power (Rumor had it that Jeep's engineers were considering decreasing the power due to worries of the AWD system not being able to cope with the power) Revised suspension with adjustable Bilstein shocks Larger Brembo Brakes (15.75-inch in the front, 13.78-inch for the back) 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds (not bad for a vehicle with a curb weight of 5,363 lbs) Top Speed: 180 mph Max Tow Rating: 7,200 lbs The Trackhawk's exterior stands out from the SRT model with a narrower front grille to make room for vents to help cool the engine.       Powering the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine delivering 707 horsepower and 645 lb.-ft. of torque.
      The breakthrough supercharged engine is designed and manufactured using only the strongest and most durable materials. Its cast iron block features water jackets between the cylinders for optimal cooling. A forged-steel crankshaft with induction-hardened bearing surfaces is so strong it can withstand firing pressures of nearly 1,600 psi (110 bar) – the equivalent of five family sedans standing on each piston, every two revolutions. The unique, specially tuned crankshaft damper has been burst tested to 13,000 rpm.
      High-strength, forged-alloy pistons – developed using advanced telemetry measurement – are coupled to powder-forged connecting rods with high-load-capacity bushings and diamond-like, carbon-coated piston pins.
      Premium grade, heat-treated aluminum-alloy cylinder heads are optimized for superior thermal conductivity. Sodium-cooled exhaust valves feature hollow-stem construction and special steel-alloy heads that stand up to temperatures as high as 1,652 degrees Fahrenheit (900 degrees Celsius).
      The 2,380cc per revolution supercharger includes integral charge-air coolers and an integrated electronic bypass valve to regulate boost pressure to a maximum of 11.6 psi (80 kPa). The twin-screw rotors are specially coated with:
      a proprietary formula of polyimide and other resins nanometer-sized, wear-resistant particles solid lubricants, such as PTFE (Teflon) The coating enables tighter clearance between the rotors. This reduces internal air leakage, delivering improved compressor performance and higher efficiencies. The coating can withstand the temperatures generated by compression, and provides superior corrosion resistance.
      The supercharger is sealed for life with premium synthetic oil, uses a drive ratio of 2.36:1 and has a maximum speed of 14,600 rpm. The supercharger drive system’s one-way clutch de-coupler improves refinement, while allowing for precisely the kind of powerful sound certain to captivate Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk drivers.
      Air sources for the supercharger include a cold-air scoop in the lower front fascia, which replaces the driver’s-side fog lamp and helps to feed the 92mm throttle body.
      The large-nosed crankshaft drives a high-flow gerotor oil pump, which feeds a lubrication circuit that includes eight high-flow piston-cooling jets. A high-capacity oil/air heat exchanger, mounted in the front of the Trackhawk, mitigates oil temperatures when driving conditions are harshest, such as on the track.
      A new low-temperature cooling system, consisting of a pump, reservoir, heat exchanger and lines, help keep the charge air cool during performance driving. This system is designed to keep intake air temperatures below 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius), under extreme ambient conditions, while enabling air flow of up to 30,000 liters per minute.
      A new fuel delivery system, featuring two high-flow, multi-mode pumps, matches the high-performance demands of the engine.
      Upgraded driveline components, durability and refinement result in benchmark off-road performance

      The performance of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is bolstered by various upgraded driveline components engineered to handle the additional torque output from the supercharged engine.
      The standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission delivers improved shift response, quality and consistent performance and drivability. The transmission software takes into account variables such as engine torque gradients, kick-down events, longitudinal and lateral acceleration, grade changes, friction detection and downshift detection to determine the appropriate shift map.
      Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is equipped with the Jeep Quadra-Trac on-demand four-wheel-drive system, which includes an electronic limited-slip rear differential and a single-speed active transfer case. The new, full-time active transfer case uses forged steel chain sprockets and a wider chain for added strength and durability.
      A strengthened rear drive shaft connects to a new, stronger rear axle. The differential features a revised housing design, revised ring-and-pinion tooth geometry and new four-point axle mounting scheme for better load distribution, additional torque capacity and overall durability. Torque is delivered to the rear wheels via new ultra-high-strength 300M low-alloy vacuum melted steel half-shafts with upgraded eight-ball outboard constant velocity joints.
      Standard Launch Control optimizes the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s performance by coordinating the engine, transmission, driveline and suspension for a textbook launch and consistent straight-line acceleration.
      A new standard Torque Reserve system provides improved engine torque response and quicker vehicle acceleration in Launch Control by pre-positioning the supercharger bypass valve to generate boost and minimize manifold filling time, while cutting fueling to individual cylinders and managing spark timing. This generates a reserve of torque that can be instantaneously delivered upon acceleration from a standing stop.
      The Selec-Track system on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk uses performance-tuned software to pre-configure and distinguish the five dynamic modes, including: Auto, Sport, Track, Snow and Tow, enabling drivers to choose a vehicle setting that ideally meets their requirements and ambient conditions. The drive modes separately control the four-wheel-drive system, transmission, paddle shifters, suspension and the electric power steering.
      Dynamic drive mode configurations include:

      The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has been one of the worst-kept secrets in the past few years. Thanks the numerous spy shots and rumors over the past couple of years, we have gotten a good idea of what's in store. It doesn't hurt that Jeep's CEO Mike Manley confirmed this last year. Before the New York Auto Show kicks off this week, Jeep has finally unveiled the details on what they call "The Most Powerful and Quickest SUV Ever".
      Let's get to the specifications first:
      Supercharged 6.2L V8 - 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque Upgraded Eight-Speed Automatic and all-wheel drive system to handle this immense power (Rumor had it that Jeep's engineers were considering decreasing the power due to worries of the AWD system not being able to cope with the power) Revised suspension with adjustable Bilstein shocks Larger Brembo Brakes (15.75-inch in the front, 13.78-inch for the back) 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds (not bad for a vehicle with a curb weight of 5,363 lbs) Top Speed: 180 mph Max Tow Rating: 7,200 lbs The Trackhawk's exterior stands out from the SRT model with a narrower front grille to make room for vents to help cool the engine. You'll also notice the lack of fog lights. These are ducts to help gulp up cool air for the vehicle. Other design changes include a set of 20-inch wheels and quad-tipped exhausts. Inside, there is a new instrument cluster with the tachometer placed in the middle.
      Jeep is keeping quiet on pricing, but we wouldn't be surprised if it starts above $70,000. We'll find out the actual price when the Trackhawk hits dealers in the fourth quarter of this year.

      Powering the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine delivering 707 horsepower and 645 lb.-ft. of torque.
      The breakthrough supercharged engine is designed and manufactured using only the strongest and most durable materials. Its cast iron block features water jackets between the cylinders for optimal cooling. A forged-steel crankshaft with induction-hardened bearing surfaces is so strong it can withstand firing pressures of nearly 1,600 psi (110 bar) – the equivalent of five family sedans standing on each piston, every two revolutions. The unique, specially tuned crankshaft damper has been burst tested to 13,000 rpm.
      High-strength, forged-alloy pistons – developed using advanced telemetry measurement – are coupled to powder-forged connecting rods with high-load-capacity bushings and diamond-like, carbon-coated piston pins.
      Premium grade, heat-treated aluminum-alloy cylinder heads are optimized for superior thermal conductivity. Sodium-cooled exhaust valves feature hollow-stem construction and special steel-alloy heads that stand up to temperatures as high as 1,652 degrees Fahrenheit (900 degrees Celsius).
      The 2,380cc per revolution supercharger includes integral charge-air coolers and an integrated electronic bypass valve to regulate boost pressure to a maximum of 11.6 psi (80 kPa). The twin-screw rotors are specially coated with:
      a proprietary formula of polyimide and other resins nanometer-sized, wear-resistant particles solid lubricants, such as PTFE (Teflon) The coating enables tighter clearance between the rotors. This reduces internal air leakage, delivering improved compressor performance and higher efficiencies. The coating can withstand the temperatures generated by compression, and provides superior corrosion resistance.
      The supercharger is sealed for life with premium synthetic oil, uses a drive ratio of 2.36:1 and has a maximum speed of 14,600 rpm. The supercharger drive system’s one-way clutch de-coupler improves refinement, while allowing for precisely the kind of powerful sound certain to captivate Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk drivers.
      Air sources for the supercharger include a cold-air scoop in the lower front fascia, which replaces the driver’s-side fog lamp and helps to feed the 92mm throttle body.
      The large-nosed crankshaft drives a high-flow gerotor oil pump, which feeds a lubrication circuit that includes eight high-flow piston-cooling jets. A high-capacity oil/air heat exchanger, mounted in the front of the Trackhawk, mitigates oil temperatures when driving conditions are harshest, such as on the track.
      A new low-temperature cooling system, consisting of a pump, reservoir, heat exchanger and lines, help keep the charge air cool during performance driving. This system is designed to keep intake air temperatures below 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius), under extreme ambient conditions, while enabling air flow of up to 30,000 liters per minute.
      A new fuel delivery system, featuring two high-flow, multi-mode pumps, matches the high-performance demands of the engine.
      Upgraded driveline components, durability and refinement result in benchmark off-road performance

      The performance of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is bolstered by various upgraded driveline components engineered to handle the additional torque output from the supercharged engine.
      The standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission delivers improved shift response, quality and consistent performance and drivability. The transmission software takes into account variables such as engine torque gradients, kick-down events, longitudinal and lateral acceleration, grade changes, friction detection and downshift detection to determine the appropriate shift map.
      Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is equipped with the Jeep Quadra-Trac on-demand four-wheel-drive system, which includes an electronic limited-slip rear differential and a single-speed active transfer case. The new, full-time active transfer case uses forged steel chain sprockets and a wider chain for added strength and durability.
      A strengthened rear drive shaft connects to a new, stronger rear axle. The differential features a revised housing design, revised ring-and-pinion tooth geometry and new four-point axle mounting scheme for better load distribution, additional torque capacity and overall durability. Torque is delivered to the rear wheels via new ultra-high-strength 300M low-alloy vacuum melted steel half-shafts with upgraded eight-ball outboard constant velocity joints.
      Standard Launch Control optimizes the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s performance by coordinating the engine, transmission, driveline and suspension for a textbook launch and consistent straight-line acceleration.
      A new standard Torque Reserve system provides improved engine torque response and quicker vehicle acceleration in Launch Control by pre-positioning the supercharger bypass valve to generate boost and minimize manifold filling time, while cutting fueling to individual cylinders and managing spark timing. This generates a reserve of torque that can be instantaneously delivered upon acceleration from a standing stop.
      The Selec-Track system on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk uses performance-tuned software to pre-configure and distinguish the five dynamic modes, including: Auto, Sport, Track, Snow and Tow, enabling drivers to choose a vehicle setting that ideally meets their requirements and ambient conditions.       Dodge brand sales up 10 percent; four Dodge brand vehicles post sales gains Ram Truck brand sales up 6 percent; Ram pickup sales increase 6 percent year over year Jeep® Grand Cherokee sales increase 22 percent compared with same month a year ago Fiat 500 sales up 12 percent for the month April 3, 2017 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC today reported U.S. sales of 190,254 units, a 5 percent decrease compared with sales in March 2016 (199,467 units).
       
      In March, fleet sales of 43,992 units were down 15 percent year over year as FCA US continues its strategy of reducing its sales to the daily rental segment. Fleet sales represented 23 percent of total FCA US sales in March. FCA US retail sales of 146,262 units were down 1 percent for the month, and represented 77 percent of total March sales.
       
      Dodge brand and Ram Truck brand sales increased year over year in March. Dodge brand sales were up 10 percent, led by the 100 percent increase in Dodge Journey crossover sales. Ram Truck brand sales were up 6 percent in March as the Ram pickup and Ram ProMaster van each posted year-over-year sales gains. Sales of the Jeep® Grand Cherokee – the Jeep brand’s volume leader in March – were up 22 percent compared with the same month in 2016. Sales of the Fiat 500 and the all-new Chrysler Pacifica minivan increased year over year as well in the month.
      Dodge Brand
      Four Dodge brand vehicles posted year-over-year sales increases in March, led by the Dodge Journey crossover’s 100 percent sales gain. Sales of the Dodge Challenger were up 17 percent in March. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – the Dodge brand’s new ultimate performance halo car – will be unveiled this month during the 2017 New York International Auto Show week. The Dodge Grand Caravan minivan and the Dodge Viper also turned in year-over-year sales gains for the month. Dodge brand sales were up 10 percent compared with the same month in 2016.
       
      Ram Truck Brand
      Ram pickup truck sales increased 6 percent in March, compared with the same month a year ago. In addition, sales of the Ram ProMaster van were up 24 percent for the month. Ram Truck brand sales, which include the pickup, ProMaster and ProMaster City, were up 6 percent in March. The brand last month unveiled a new exterior color shade for its luxurious and capable Laramie Longhorn line of pickup trucks. RV Match Walnut Brown will serve as the model’s new two-tone contrast color, replacing White Gold. The Ram Laramie Longhorn is the Texas Auto Writers Association’s Luxury Truck of Texas.
       
      FIAT Brand
      Sales of the Fiat 500 increased 12 percent in March, compared with the same month a year ago. Fiat 124 Spider sales were up 39 percent compared with the previous month of February. Experts at Cars.com consider the all-new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider best in its segment, naming it the “Best New Convertible” of 2017.
       
      Jeep® Brand
      The Jeep Grand Cherokee – the brand’s volume leader for the month – recorded a 22 percent year-over-year sales increase in March for its best sales month this year. The all-new 2017 Jeep Compass – the most capable compact SUV ever with the most advanced 4x4 systems in its class – began shipping to Jeep dealerships in March. The new Compass expands the Jeep brand’s global reach with an unmatched combination of attributes that includes legendary and best-in-class 4x4 off-road capability, advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, premium and authentic Jeep design, superior on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom, and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology offerings.
       
      Chrysler Brand
      Sales of the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica – the most awarded minivan of 2016 and 2017 – were up in its third month of year-over-year comparisons, and increased 3 percent compared with sales in the previous month of February. March also was the Pacifica’s best sales month so far this year. The Pacifica continues to earn a plethora of awards and accolades in 2017, landing on Kelley Blue Book’s list of the “12 Best Family Cars of 2017” in the best minivans category, and “2017 North American Utility of the Year.”
       
      Alfa Romeo Brand
      Alfa Romeo brand sales of 555 units were up 1,191 percent compared with the same month a year ago.
       
      Maserati Brand
      Maserati brand sales of 1,312 units were up 32 percent compared with the same month in 2016.
