I just finished watching the Edmunds video comparing the Porsche Cayman and the Chevy Corvette. You can find it here: http://chevy-tail-light-tint.blogspot.com/2013/10/chevy-corvette-versus-porsche-cayman.html I was really surprised to see that the Corvette spanked the Porsche on almost all points. Thoughts anyone?

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 27, 2012 Remember the 2007 Volt concept? It was a muscular, bold, and imposing electric vehicle. Compare it to the production Volt and the two almost have nothing to share, aside from name, powertrain, and some design ideas. Recently at a event in San Francisco. John Cafaro, Director of Exterior Design for Chevrolet gave some indications and clues as to what to expect in the next-gen Volt. Cafaro mentioned how the guys at Chevrolet were impressed with what Opel did to the Ampera to make more aggressive. "We're going to do some things with the Volt down the road, make it a little more monochromatic, a little mo…

If you have a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray sitting in your garage and wished it had some of performance found on the hot Corvette Z06, then we have some good news for you. This week at the SEMA show, Chevrolet announced a new series of performance parts derived from the Z06. The parts include new brakes, chassis components, cooling components, and suspension. They can be added to any Corvette Stingray, even those without the Z51 Performance Package. "No one has spent more time developing Corvette performance parts than Chevrolet and this new range of components is the result of countless hours of testing that aftermarket companies can't match. You can mix and match…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com October 3, 2013 Earlier this year, famed corvette tuner Callaway showed a design study for a Corvette Stingray shooting brake called the AeroWagon. The AeroWagon takes a standard Corvette Stingray and replaces the back end with a new wagon-shaped back end made out of carbon fiber. At the time, Callaway said if demand was great, the company would produce the AeroWagon. Jump forward to this week and Callaway announces that will put it the AeroWagon into production, with models arriving in January. Pricing for the AeroWagon will start at $15,000 for the shooting brake tail end in carbon fiber and $16,500 for the shooting br…

The Chevrolet Spark EV is no more, ending a three-year run for the bowtie brand. The Detroit News learned that production of the Spark EV ended last summer as a part of a move by Chevrolet to get ready with selling the Bolt EV. Another reason not listed in the story is that the Spark EV was based on the previous-generation model, not the all-new model. When Chevrolet revealed the Bolt EV back in 2015, GM executives said the Bolt would likely not replace the Spark EV. Chevrolet spokesman Fred Ligouri said Chevrolet sold about 7,400 Spark EVs during its three-year run from 2013 to 2016. The model was only sold in California, Maryland, and Oregon. Source:…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com January 5, 2012 Today, General Motors announced structural and cooling system "safety enhancements" for the Chevrolet Volt to better protect the batteries in a crash. The enhancements include strengthening a portion of the Volt's vehicle safety structure, add a sensor in the battery coolant system reservoir, and add tamper-resistant bracket to the battery coolant reservoir. GM North America President Mark Reuss said that GM is treating this as a voluntary customer satisfaction issue, and therefor it's not a recall. But it feels like a recall due to the process to fix the roughly 12,000 Volts either at dealers or with…

With a supercharged 6.2L V8 producing 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 looks to be giving a number of sports car a run for their money. But getting into one will cost you a fair penny. Chevrolet has announced the Camaro ZL1 will begin at $62,135 for the coupe and $69,135 for the convertible. Both prices include destination. “The Camaro ZL1 offers supercar performance with daily-driver refinement, a combination that stacks up against any other sports coupe – at any price – around the world,” said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet marketing. If that is a bit too much, Chevrolet has the 1LE package available for the LT and…

The 2015 Corvette Z06 packs 650 horsepower and 650 foot-pounds of torque and is Chevy’s most powerful Corvette in its 62-year history. Earlier this year, officials said limited quantities of the sports car would be available late this year. “The 2015 Corvette Z06’s performance and technical capabilities place it in the elite fraternity of supercars,” Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager, said in a statement. “Very few cars in the world deliver 650 horsepower.” GM debuted the 2015 Corvette Z06 this year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 2013 Corvette Z06 started at $77,590 and generated 505 horsepower and 470 foot-pounds of…

For those into Corvettes, this might be of interest. I came across these UK magazine test times. I think they show what a showroom car can do. Since they were export cars, it's unlikely they were enhanced for magazine testing. Cruze Diesel Review by Green Car http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1109762_2017-chevrolet-cruze-diesel-first-drive Came across this review of the cruze diesel and have to say I was impressed by the writeup, pictures and found the following two quotes to be very telling of just how well Cheverolet nailed the new Diesel Cruze. Quote 1 Driving the Prius for mileage was an annoying affair, requiring me to putter away from stoplights and hang out in the slow lane on the freeway as other cars passed, just so I could come up short on the EPA-estimated freeway figure. It was tiring and tedious. Quote While the diesel engine deserves a lot of prais…

The performance off-road mid-size pickup truck war has turned into a hot war in 2023. Ford has recently released their 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, and Toyota introduced an all-new 2024 Tacoma with an incredibly capable Tacoma TRD Off Road. Back in 2018, Chevrolet teamed up with American Expedition Vehicles to the 2019 Chevy Colorado Bison ZR2 to the Colorado lineup. About a year ago, the all-new 2023 Colorado was released, and while there was a ZR2, the Bison was not part of the announcement. Today, Chevy remedied that by announcing a new Chevrolet Colorado Bison ZR2 for 2024. The Bison starts with the ZR2's longer wheelbase and high-output 2.7L turbo producing…

Too bad and a huge shame it is an American car. I wonder how much more it is going to cost Americans to buy this thing now that Trump has put 25% tariffs on CANADIAN aluminium and steel? (effective on March 12) Because I do NOT doubt one iota that Chevrolet uses CANADIAN raw materials for its supercar... Oh well, this PROUD CANADIAN is a lot less proud of this American sportscar now. If I had boat loads of CANADIAN looneys. Yeah...that's right! CANADIAN CASH, BABY!!! to buy me a sportscar, Id buy myself a Porsche now that my country NEEDS me to boycot ANYTHING American... Id also be spendin' my CANADIAN looneys visiting…
