End Game

Recommended Posts

My dad is slipping away minute by minute and taking care of him becomes a bit more difficult each day. My family is on constant call and we have been taking turns dealing with the off-hour care that he needs. It's a truly draining experience and all of us are tired - most of all my dad. The hardest part is how much more difficult it is to communicate with him now and to understand him on the rare occassions when he speaks. He is less present all the time and aware only in a vague way. The experience is even more overwhelming than I had ever thought it would be.

This may sound stupid, but I'm not really looking for sympathy with this post. It's more the need to just "put it out there" that motivates me to write this all out .

So, I have a request.

Please don't comment on this, I know it is hard to resist offering support so if you want to just post a blank acknowlegement - that will be enough.

Words fail sometimes, and just knowing that others are there is somehow better.

Thanks.

Hey Camino, I understand where you're coming from. It was the same way with my Grandmother for a while before she passed in '90. I know you're not looking for any sympathy, but I really do know what kinda boat you're in right now.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my father's house there are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am."

Try to picture it without the fire extinguisher. There had been a Fiero parked next to the El Camino. :)
