Pontiac lets Solstice Targa image slip

Recommended Posts

An image of the upcoming Solstice Targa, shown in red alongside the G8 sport truck, surfaced on Pontiac's website earlier today. The image, which includes the text, "SEE THE CARS UNVEILED AT THE NEW YORK AUTO SHOW," has since been removed.

Pontiac is such a simple brand to fix. Not long ago, Pontiac was a joke. Now, Pontiac is becoming relevant again. Give them a G8 coupe/GTO, Alpha sedan and coupe, and watch sales start to take off. Pontiac only needs three vehicles/lines:

Solstice (2-seat coupe/targe and roadster) (cheap Z4)

Alpha Vehicle (sedan, 2+2 coupe, perhaps a convertible, but not necessary depending on added cost) (cheap 3er)

G8 sedan, ST, coupe, and perhaps wagon. (cheap 5er)

There is no need for anything bigger than the G8 as it is already close to the 7er in size, nor anything smaller than the Alpha vehicle, IMO. G8 could even be downsized slightly.

It would seem Pontiac would be one of the cheapest brands to run. The Alpha could share much with the Holden Alpha, the G8 already is a Holden, and the Solstice shares costs with the Sky and GT. Perhaps Saturn is the only brand that will be cheaper to give product to.

Couldn't agree more! That's why the talk of phase out pisses me off so badly.

Pontiac is *almost there* and GM could really reinvent the division with stuff they already have.

They need one SUV, and one compact car. Give them a G8 Sedan, G8 ST, G8 Safari (Wagon), G6 Coupe, G6 Sedan, G6 Drop Top, G5 Coupe/Sedan, Solstice Targa/Rag Top, and a new Torrent based on the new Equinox with unique body-styling and different interior that would sell too.

No point for an SUV with GMC in the same showroom...the Torrent replacement is going to be the GMC Terrain, from what I've read.

It would be the most worthy lineup of all of GM's brands for me. I would be a near-exclusive Pontiac customer as long as this product mix existed. Very little, other than my work truck, would tempt me away.
